Cyborg Boss. Illumina is on the run from her abusive/murderous ex. When she finds a clandestine job in a hidden location she thinks it will be the perfect hiding spot. Dale Homme, the cyborg owner of the ship building business, instantly knows Illumina is lying but he also knows she’s in trouble. As an ex Cy Ops member he is highly qualified and immediately wants to protect her. Illumina is scared to trust at first but learns to believe in Dale. Fantastic Story!. This is a fantastic story! I couldn't put it down. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. Dale is a Cyborg who runs a secret chop shop. he has a slight problem with the spaceship that they have built. Illumina Smith comes looking for a job but her history has a lot of holes in it. Dale hires her but he knows that he needs to find out more about her. Illumina has been on the run for a while now. Her bonded mate cut off her wings and now is trying to kill her. She knows that she needs to keep moving but hopefully this secret place will give her time to recover some more. Dale and Illumina are drawn to her. When he discovers her secret, he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Will they find a way to happiness together? It's okay. I have r e ad this author before and enjoyed those books but this one did not hit the mark for me. Sometimes I am a mood reader and maybe that's hit. Lots of great plot though. Fun. Illumina, a Faria, was running from her ex, Alonio, who had beat her and cut off her wings. Dale, an ex cyborg secret operative, owned a secret chop shop on a hidden planet. When Illumina came for a job Dale hired her even though he had reservations because he desired her. On the journey to love, Illumina and Dale faced doubts, sabotage, danger, spies and a deeper connection than either thought possible to obtain their HEA. Great book. I hadn’t read any of the other books in this series but this was great as a stand-alone. There were a few things that I thought I was missing background on. Illumina was on the run and went to the one place she thought she would be safe. One thing she didn’t factor in was some bad parts of human nature. Adrenaline rush. Action. Villainous intentions and dangerous ambassador using his connections for find his target. The good guys need to win they just don’t know it yet. The new hire is hiding in plan site but not for long. Did you know ther is a chop shop for alien spacecrafts? No cliffhanger . Dale protects those who have found a safe haven working for him.... Dale understands that life doesn’t give everyone a fair shake, it doesn’t make everyone’s dreams come true. His business skates the edge of legal, and out of necessity operates not just in the shadows, but in a well-concealed and protected location. Most of the people working for him are simply looking for somewhere to be accepted and given a chance, but the moment Illumina appears applying for a job, he knows she’s running from something, and his gut says not only should he help her, despite her lies, but there’s no safer place for her to be than his hidden shop. Two people who have been beaten up by life, and betrayed by someone they thought they could trust struggle to not just trust one another, but create a safe life together. It doesn’t hurt that Dale has friends who will do anything for a brother.

Action and Romance. This story is part of the Men of Mettle series, where the cyborg guys face danger and the ladies are fierce enough to save themselves. Illumina and Dale’s relationship starts off shaky, but their ending is just so absolutely perfect for them. My heart was in my throat during the fight scenes, they were so tense. This story was a blast, now I’m off to mind myself another Man of Mettle!

Love and suspense. I have read this book previously and happily re-read it. It is a story filled with suspense and action as well as a very sweet love story between a Faria (Illumina) who is running from her psychotic ex-husband and Dale, a cyborg who hires and then protects her. Technological quirk. This was an enjoyable story watch unfold. Dale as the Cyborg boss together with Illumina and her unique skills and situation made for a great pair. I liked the touch of suspense and path taken for it to be resolved. Seeing several of the characters healed better than before and many plot details addressed made for a satisfying HFN ending.
