Very creepy, very thrilling, very, very good!. The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig Available Now The Book of Accidents is one of the creepiest, thrilling, and twisted novels I’ve read in quite some time. After the death of his abusive father, Nate and his family see inheriting the house in the country as a fresh start, be it very reluctantly on Nate’s part. As his wife Maddie settles into her new space with grand plans for an art studio, flashes from her past intertwine with disturbing occurrences that leave her unsettled and questioning her own sanity. Their son Oliver, sensitive and strongly empathetic to those around him, finally finds a group of friends at his new high school, only to find himself the focus of the school bully. When Oliver is saved from a violent encounter by a dark and disturbing teen named Jake, Oliver finds the two of them beginning an unsettling but close friendship. Meanwhile, Nate is encountering his own mysterious events out in the woods as the newest game warden. As the family tries to settle new roots, a dark force that has plagued the area for years has settled on them to be it’s latest victims and will stop at nothing to get what it wants. Wendig has crafted an intricate story that delves into the darkest traumas of its characters, while also remaining hopeful about the power of love. The Book of Accidents combines the very best of horror: the dark history of an abusive family, a mysterious power intent on domination, characters with strange and unexplainable powers, and a magical book. Oh, how I love a magical book that can threaten all of mankind. Wendig’s masterful writing seamlessly blends horror, science fiction, and fantastical elements into a layered and complex story that will pull you in and keep you immersed until the very last page. I absolutely loved this book and went on to rave shamelessly about it to all that would listen. This should be on the radar for all horror and science fiction lovers. A Wild Ride. Wendig hooked me with this one! Loved the tight focus on a relatively small cast of characters juxtaposed with the truly cosmic importance of their choices. Great storytelling.

Awesome!. This book was amazing! It’s one of those books that has you so wrapped up, you stay up way too late reading. It’s the modern version of The Dark Tower and I wish there was more!

Great Story. Stephen King vibes.

Best book I’ve read in a long time. I picked this book up, intrigued by the title and started reading. After only a few pages, I realized it would be coming home with me. This book has everything - action, suspense, creepy characters and a really perfect ending. I was sad when it ended. Do yourself a favor and buy this book!

Another great book by Chuck Wendig!. After really enjoying the masterpiece that is WANDERERS, I was hoping for something just as good with THE BOOK OF ACCIDENTS. And I was not disappointed. Nathan inherits a house from his estranged father. He watches his father die, and at that moment he's visited by a vision of his father as a younger man, holding a gun. The way the book opened like that, I was expecting this to end up being a ghost story or a haunted house tale. But things quickly take a turn and it becomes a different kind of book entirely. There so many moving parts here: time travel, portals to alternate worlds, serial killers, demons, magic, all woven together in a wild ride of a story. The writing here is solid, like all of Wendig's other work is, but I felt like he was trying (and succeeding) to channel Stephen King as much as possible. In fact, if I had read this without knowing who wrote it, I'd have sworn it was a King novel. Perhaps it's meant to be an homage, I'm not sure. Whatever it is, it works for me. If you're a fan of King's work, you'll likely enjoy it, too. 5/5 stars, would recommend! A Twisted Roller Coaster Ride. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the digital ARC of The Book of Accidents. I loved this book and it has been awhile since I have said that. The book starts off with a creepy haunted house vibe as Nathan returns to his childhood home after the death of his father with his wife Maddie and son, Oliver. Nathan had an abuse filled childhood and in returning to this house, things seem to start off with more of a haunted houe vibe. However, the author, Chuck Wendig, does a masterful job of making it so much more than that with the introduction of Jake, a strange boy who seems out of place and befriends Oliver but with dark intentions. I don't want to spoil but I will say that the twists and layering that the author does in this book is masterful and reminds me so much of an engrossing Stephen King read. Really loved this one. Five Stars!

Phenomenal!!!. I can’t begin to say enough great things about this book! Nothing is what it seems. But the author manages to make everything fall into place. Superb character development. Incredibly original story. I will definitely be reading this one again! Don’t hesitate and get this book. It’s 100% worth it!
