Three-Inch Teeth by C. J. Box Book Summary

Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett faces two different kinds of rampaging beasts—one animal, one human—in this riveting new novel from #1 New York Times bestseller C.J. Box.

A rogue grizzly bear has gone on a rampage—killing, among others, the potential fiancé of Joe’s daughter. At the same time, Dallas Cates, who Joe helped lock up years ago, is released from prison with a special list tattooed on his skin. He wants revenge on the people who sent him away: the six people he blames for the deaths of his entire family and the loss of his reputation and property.

Using the grizzly attacks as cover, Cates sets out to methodically check off his list. The problem is, both Nate Romanowski and Joe Pickett are on it.

Not up to usual. Forgot to add Nate freeing his birds before he left……didn’t seem ‘finished’.

So many questions…. Ended rather abruptly with a lot of loose ends.

Half a book?. Set up for next book but feel like ending was rushed and incomplete. Love this series but please flesh out next book more.

Ick. I’ll never read another of his books.

Disappointing. I’ve enjoyed a great many of the Joe Pickett novels, but I’m afraid that I found Three Inch Teeth to be just too much of a stretch, with far too much unneeded death and gore. Very disappointing.

So Much Death!. Warning Spoiler Alert! Why introduce Joe’s mother in the book and then kill her off before Joe even has the chance to meet her? What a waste. Why bring her into the storyline at all? I guess CJ needed some filler to meet his page quota.

Three inch teeth.. It kept me reading, but it was a bit unrealistic. CJ Box is a great author and I will continue to read his books.

Lame Ending. Preposterous plot. Incomplete ending.

Thanks!. CJ has not lost a step. Great read, tied a lot of previous books together. Thanks a lot Mr. Box.

Good read. Love this collection. Only problem is I read them to fast. Can not put down

Disappointing. I’ve read a lot of his books and this seemed to have a borderline ridiculous storyline. It seemed very forced as if he came up w a crazy idea and after awhile realized how implausible it was but continued bc he had already started

Wanted to love it. My least favorite of his books and I’ve read them all. Had a hard time getting through it. The basic plot was okay but Cates method of revenge was half past ridiculous and dinner parties at the Picketts are going to be pretty quiet with most everyone they know killed off or disappeared.

Cliff hanger. A very short book with way too many unknowns. I feel like I got ripped off.

Great book. Box can keep you intrigued through the whole book. This one is among his best.

Can’t Stop. Once I start a C. J. Box book, I can’t stop. This one was first chair on the roller-coaster.

Almost other-worldly. incredible yarn that had me almost breathless. Very different feel from the rest of his books but most enjoyable.

Three Inch Teeth. My wife and I are huge CJ Box fans!We have read all of his books, many of them twice. This book started out great but then became more and more violent and dark! Extremely so! I thought it was so unnecessary to kill off 2 of the long term and important characters! At the end of the book, it just left me sad and disappointed. My wife quit reading it about two thirds of the way through. WYMTFAN

Far-fetched and Far from Box’s Best. I hope this book isn’t the Jump the Shark (Bear?) moment for the Joe Pickett series. The author should have put more energy into fleshing out and editing the book before releasing it. The plot is unbelievable and the ending is rushed. Wyoming’s LEOs (County, State, forensics and Corrections) are depicted as completely inept. An interesting new storyline is introduced and summarily discarded. I am disappointed because I have very much enjoyed previous installments of this series.

Joe Pickett. Love all the Joe Pickett Books. Mr.Box certainly has a talent for writing.

Not what they used to be!. I’ve read all the Pickett novels by CJ Box. Each successive novel gets sillier and sillier to the point that it’s sucking the joy out of reading it. Have no interest in spoiling this for anyone so I will say that the means by which the antagonist attacks his victims is maybe the silliest thing I’ve read in years. Hard to stomach in a single novel, and even harder to see a pretty solid series slide hard into silliness. Pickett is a likable character in an awesome state. Shouldn’t have to work this hard to blow a great series. I know it’s not easy, I can’t imagine writing a book a year, but I think Box can do better. He has in many of the earlier books in the series.

3 inch teeth. Great book as always but give it an ending. I’ll buy your next book but don’t make me feel I need to.

Wow. What a major disappointment.. I have loved every single book of this series, even read them twice. But Mr. Box should be ashamed of this one. I’m even wondering if he actually wrote it. The dialog starts off terrible and gets worse from there. The story is so unbelievable that it seems like a bad horror movie. If this is the direction of future Joe Pickett stories, then I’d be sorry to say that I’m done with them. Everything was just awful, and I don’t know how else to say it. I plowed through until the very anti-climatic and utterly predictable, boring ending, and said out loud to myself, “That’s it?? Are you kidding me?” Dang. I’m sorry I wasted my money on this one. Don’t waste yours, even if you are a fan. You will be very disappointed. C’mon, Mr. Box. You completely mailed this one in. If there IS a next book in this series, it has to be up to your previous standards, or I’m afraid I will have to say farewell to my good friend Joe Pickett, and that would be a very sad thing.

It was a good read, I just wish it was longer!. .

Wonderful.. I so enjoyed the well written book.

3 inch teeth. This was a fast-moving adventure full of surprises. I’ve read the earlier books and didn’t think C.J. Box could do it again, but he definitely did.

Rare disappointment. Hopefully this isn’t the first Joe Pickett novel you chose to start with.. go back to the Start of the series and skip this one. Sorry CJ -

Box on track. Pretty good book. Plot a bit farfetched but action is well paced. A few unresolved plot lines at the end but, no doubt will appear in a sequel.

Three Inch Teeth. Great book but certainly left several issues unresolved. I get it: the matters are being saved for the next book!

So much chaos!!. I was very surprised at how long it took for Joe and Marybeth to figure this one out!!! It was very suspenseful and I loved the book. Felt badly that Joe’s mother never got to meet his family!! What’s next and how soon??

Three-Inch Teeth novel. Another great book about Joe Picket. I love these Novels. Cannot wait for the next one?

C J Box. One of his best ever Netherlands Pickett series!

Best Book Yet. I really enjoyed this book but DO NOT follow the series expecting to view a recreation of the Joe Pickett series on your TV. Unfortunately, Box and the writes dubbed the animals with AI & characters are now more diversity, equity and inclusion. I hate Cj Box was a sell out and deviated from the characters he originally created and kept me turning page after page. If he’d stuck to his guns on Nate, for instance, he wouldn’t have lost a die heart fan.

A bit of a stretch. I realize this a work of fiction, but I always felt there was a bit more realism in C.J. Box’s books. This was a little far fetched.

Not up to par. This was not up to par for CJ Box. The book was very short with a lot left unfinished. Is Box starting to phone it in?

Not one of his best.. I usually finish his books the same day I start to read it. But not this one.

Three inch teeth. I love these books and hope more are coming.Hope Nate will be back! Liz 32905

Three- Inch Teeth C.J. Box. A man named Clay Hutmacher was fishing in the Twelve Sleep River when he was attacked and killed by a grizzly bear. His father later discovers parts of his mutilated body and contacts Game Warden Joe Pickett. At the same time an inmate named Dallas Cates is released from the Wyoming State Penitentiary. He was incarcerated for crimes committed against the Pickett family. He is now seeking revenge against the Pickett family and anyone else he feels has wronged him. With the help of two people who have created a machine that mimics bear attacks his quest for revenge is set in motion. Another outstanding, stupendous read in this series!!! My highest recommendation!!

Very good read. Really like the style of writing, hard to put down and easy and exciting to read , well done!

Another Great Book. Unfortunately it keeps you turning the pages and the next thing you know, you’re at the end!! Can’t wait for the next one, plenty of pieces to follow up on.

Not like the old stories. He’s taken a dive off into being a pervert writer. Cut out the garbage and get back to the good old story writing.

A disappointing read. Been a fan for years but surely this isn’t the same author from a decade ago. The plot’s a stretch and too many errors to ignore - Chapter 18 depicts a full moon early morning pre-sunrise, yet that same evening (Chapter 25) the moon is merely a ‘fingernail slice’ in the sky. Hope CJ gets rid of the ghostwriters and gets it together…

3 Inch Teeth. A better effort by Box than some of his recent books. And a nice set up going forward for a new novel.

Hokey story line. The. Whole storyline is foolish. Sorry I bought this part of the series.

A good series goes too far. I’ve read all of the Joe Pickett novels and have always enjoyed the characters and their story arcs over the length of the series. This book, however, stretches credibility beyond any reasonable limit. If you’re a Joe Pickett fan, do yourself a favor and skip this one. There is no pleasure in it, only a convoluted story of revenge that makes little sense and makes me wonder if there’s any reason to read any future books. The unresolved elements at the end suggest the next installment could be equally dark and pointless. Mr Box, please don’t force Cassie Dewell to jump the shark like you’ve done with Joe and his family.
