Amb ella s'endinsarà en la nit berlinesa, poblada de personatges que volen viure al màxim en les escletxes del III Reich, sigui en clubs clandestins o en festes oficials. Es diverteixen junts i s'enamoren. Però un dia rep la visita de Kristin, tota plena de ferides i contusions —potser torturada—, i ella ha de confessar que no li ha explicat tota la veritat.
