La historia comienza en el futuro y trata de drogas cibernéticas, insectos monstruosos, mafias androides, hackeo de cuerpos y viajes intramunicipales en el tiempo (para cumplir la burocracia), y aún puede sentirse bastante cercana a nuestra realidad.
Ceres de José Miguel Martínez intercala distintos relatos para crear un gran arco sobre la vida en ese planeta lejano que la humanidad colonizó desde el comienzo del tercer milenio, entregándonos su patética historia alrededor del Cinturón de Asteroides, donde queda preguntar cuál fue su destino.
Con carácter experimentador y delirante, explorando diversos tonos y atmósferas de la ciencia ficción, el autor resuelve una crítica a diferentes síntomas de nuestra sociedad, proyectando un futuro aún más complejo frente a temas como la tecnología, la ecología o la decadencia moral; pero también alcanza el horizonte más íntimo de la vinculación afectiva o el extrañamiento ante a uno mismo. En Ceres el autor rescata uno de los aspectos más elementales de la ciencia ficción: sin importar cuán lejos creamos llegar, siempre nos encontraremos con la misma naturaleza anhelante.
Ceres cuenta con una banda sonora de rock espacial, compuesta por el músico Tomás Arriagada. Estos temas están disponibles vía streaming y se puede acceder a ellos escaneando los códigos QR que acompañan a cada uno de los relatos.
