Tense, suspenseful mystery!. The day Freya and Jack move in to their new fixer upper home, their neighbor Emily greets them with a bottle of champagne. They meet her adorable daughter Thea and her somewhat unpleasant husband Michael. Freya and Emily become fast friends for five months. Then Emily and Thea disappear. Freya is frantic. She doesn’t think that the police are following all leads so she creates a website and spends most of her time working on it. Of course, she is convinced that Michael is responsible. Freya’s concern slowly drifts into obsession. The police and Jack think she needs psychiatric help. Could they be right? Or is Freya? Freya is a totally unreliable narrator for many reasons. But is that true? You’ll have to work that out for yourself as you read this tense, suspenseful mystery. It’s well written, character driven and hard to put down. 5 stars. Thank you to Net Galley, Bookouture and Chris Merritt for this ARC.

Good. Great read

Predictable. The entire book !

Not good. Predicted all the twists. I hate that! Also hate misspelled words!

Boring. Too much description of everything 🤦🏼‍♀️boring and far fetched , don’t waste your money and time

The new home. I read it all in a few hours and thoroughly enjoyed it . Unexpected twists and a well written novel , definitely will recommend.

The New Home!!!! I. Read this one over 4 nights before bed. Took me into the early hours as I couldn’t put it down. That’s says it all really, good plot, great story and a brilliant twist at the end. Nice to read a story so close to home…. I mean the location, not anything else!! 😝

Good read. Liked this story an original plot full of “keep you guessing” chapters and held my attention from start to finish.

Great read. This book kept me guessing the whole way through! Very well written. My first read by this author, I’m already looking for more!

The New Home. Brilliant .. keeps you guessing until the very end

The new home. Good ending not a bad story and a decent read

Not great. I guessed the ‘twist’/who would be the villain, very early in the book. It was not a shock nor a particularly interesting reveal either. It was all wrapped up very quickly and conveniently, sort of rushed at the end and then they all lived happily ever after.

Easy to read. This is a lovely book and easy to read. Kept me guessing the whole way ! Loved the twists and turns. The only reason I am giving it 4 starts instead of 5 is because it’s a bit long winded and so it was a bit frustrating sometimes. Could have been made a bit shorter ..

Blurgh. Overall, found it boring! Nothing interesting happened besides two points in the book!!

Addictive. This book is filled with twist after twist, I couldn’t call what was going to happen at all. Albeit a little far fetched in some places but overall I really enjoyed the book.

Completely unbelievable. Promising start but an unbelievable main storyline, side plots and ending. The final chapter is laughable in the attempt to quickly round-up with a ‘happy-ending’… where two murderers who killed, dis-membered, and burned to ash one of the couples former counsellor (who whilst it was quickly established was also an evil stalker, had spent most of the story being developed as a sexy, kind and caring potential lover) sit around eating quiche and homemade cake, talking about how much effort they have put into their pruning. Ludicrous.

New Home. Took me a while to get going. But would never have guessed the ending

Very good read. Extremely addictive. Interesting characters with lots of mystery. Would definitely recommend!

Surprising Gripping Read. Started reading and thought it may be a bit run of the mill, how wrong was I? Lots of twists and turns, my head went down lots of paths! Great gripping read.

Unputdownable!!!!. Fantastic from start to finish. Couldn’t put it down. Love the twist at the end!!

Predictable. Sorry didn’t like this much, main character was to unrealistic, everything was predictable. Don’t wAste your time

Good read. Interesting plot, well worth a read

Interesting. The title actually gives nothing away about the drama inside this book. Enjoyable and quite unusual.

A weak thriller. Silly premise really- predictable and weak Had to read it til the end but could have been so much better

Could not put it down!. Absolutely amazing book, it had me hooked from the first chapter! Would highly recommend.

Great read, predictable ending. As the review title! Very good read and hard to put down but the ending was predictable.

The new home. Excellent!!

meh. i read the reviews so i bought it. i didn’t enjoy it at all. ended up skipping pages. glad to be done.

Had to keep reading!. Twists and turns to the very end! Did not see any of it coming, great read.

The New Home. Started off promisingly enough, but soon became silly and the resolution too silly for words.

Not possible to do anything but read. A fab psychological thriller

A great read!. Spent much time trying to guess who the threat was but didn’t nail it!

the new home. so so good i couldn’t put the book down!!

Enjoyable. Really enjoyed this book. Imaginary many possible endings as I ran through the book. Great read.

Interesting read. Kept me turning the pages.

So so good. Really loved this, couldn’t put it down!

The New Home. This book was so good it was all about a person who bought a house and started renovating an looking for neighbours.

Love this book. I love everything about this book , it was my first book read of Chris. I’m sure I’ll keep reading his books

Terribly written. One of the worst books I’ve ever read. Childish writing. Vapid characters. Agonisingly over explanatory. No depth. Unlikely plot.

Good read!. It’s been a while since I have picked up a book and was completely obsessed by it. Definitely a page turner with some good twists!

Loved it!. “You never know what’s happening behind closed doors…” I am huge fan of Chris Merritt’s crime thrillers so when I heard he was going to be penning a book in my favourite psychological thriller genre, I couldn’t wait to read it. So how do I think he did after I finished reading The New Home? Read on to find out! Freya is excited to have so quickly made a wonderful new friend in Emily, after moving next door to her. Freya is then left reeling when Emily and her daughter Thea suddenly disappear. Does this beautiful leafy quite street hide a shocking secret that will shake not only Freya but the reader to their very core! As always Chris Merritt delivers a clever, well thought out and executed plot, which expertly draws the reader into the story and holds you hostage. I couldn’t flick the pages on my Kindle fast enough, desperate to know what happened to Emily and Thea that I could not stop reading until I found out, which when I did, left me as shook as Freya! So to loop back to the beginning of my review, how do I think Chris Merritt did with his first foray into the psychological thriller genre? I think he nailed it! I absolutely loved this book. A strong plot, an unreliable narrator which are my favourite kind and a outcome I didn’t see coming, this book is the whole package. A very enjoyable and entertaining read which i highly recommend.

Fantastic. Was a great story, I hadn’t heard of Chris Merrit before, but now I have, I’ll be definitely reading more of him. I hope to see more psychological thrillers.

Good read. Intriguing story line with plenty of twists. A little predictable at the end. Enjoyed it.
