Worth reading!. A bit lengthy at the beginning but it gets much better later on, the plot twists are like 3.5/5 for me. Took me around 4 ish hours to read, not bad, worth the reading time 👍

I Heard You Scream. I didn’t stop reading this book until the end. I couldn’t put it down. In the beginning, I was confused about who was who, but the more I read, the more I understood. You can’t predict the outcome of this story. That’s why I read it one swoop!

A Page Turning Thriller!. Five can keep a secret if four are dead. Wow! Where to even begin with this book! I absolutely loved O’Briens writing. It drew me in quickly and kept my attention throughout the entire book as I wanted to know what was going to happen.The story is told in dual timelines. The past shows Chelsea finding four of her friends dead from a brutal stabbing, while the present follows the present where she is still dealing with being the only witness to the crime. Her ability to write a thriller that keeps you in suspense throughout the entire book is amazing. I love thrillers where you are learning of secrets and lies little by little and you spend the entire book figuring out who you can trust! Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a fast paced thriller! I know that I will be working my way through her backlist of books!

“I Heard You Scream” Review *Spoiler in the second paragraph; 5th sentence*. “I Heard You Scream” by Emerald O’Brien is a captivating psychological thriller that perfectly blends mystery and tension. O’Brien’s intriguing novel created a sense of tension that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The plot twists, uncovering dark secrets and surprising connections, was a page-turner. “I Heard You Scream,” is about four friends who died in a small Canadian town on a cold fall night, stabbed in a revenge attack. Chelsea, the only surviving witness, spends the next five years trying to cope with the trauma. I gave it a 3 out of 5 because there were many characters appearing unexpectedly. Additionally, it wasn't clear in the book whether she was a teacher or a guidance counselor, or maybe it mentioned it, and I might have overlooked it. Chelsea's treatment of Cam, her fiancé, made me dislike her. Considering how Morgan treated Chelsea, the lack of fairness was surprising. Chelsea's own experiences should have made her more empathetic,(which she was but wasn’t). The revelation of Austin as the "biggest secret" was unexpected. I had anticipated a darker secret related to the killings, perhaps involving Chelsea herself. Turning the suspicion towards Cam being the killer when it was actually Kellan was a clever twist, especially her jealousy of Steven’s love for Morgan. I had initially thought the story would revolve around the friends keeping a dark secret, but the actual plot took a different and intriguing turn. I'd suggest this book for those just beginning to read or individuals who enjoy a fast pace in their books.

“To learn the truth, I had to tell mine.”. Chelsea was the lone survivor of a mass killing at her friend's beach house. Was she a hero or a witness to something she couldn’t comprehend? The beach house held many secrets for Chelsea and her friends, along with fun times until tragedy struck one dark night that changed their lives forever. The house where the murders occurred, along with the beach, were an integral part of the storyline; a character to analyze, a safe haven for the friends, and a prison at the end. I wasn’t quite sure where the storyline was going until all of Chelsea’s lies were exposed. She definitely wasn’t the person everyone thought she was. Chelsea had knowledge of certain events that directly resulted in the tragedy at the beach which turned her into someone she didn’t even recognize. Chelsea wished she could just close her eyes and make all the nightmares go away, but it was too late. She was living in her own nightmare that was making her paranoid and causing her to constantly look over her shoulder. Was there anyone Chelsea could trust with her secrets or was everyone close to her a potential suspect? Will the secrets of the beach house remain hidden; washed away at the next high tide? Ms. O’Brien definitely made me take a step back so I could line up my clues and dissect them, before I could completely understand what had transpired. I was shocked by an ending that I never saw coming, which is exactly what I expected from this thought-provoking psychological thriller!!
