Slllooooooowwwwww. Incredibly difficult to read due to slow plot line and rambling.

5 stars. Very witty social commentary, loads of humor, and loveable characters. This period romance truly stands out from most others!

Slow, wordy, predictable.. Not at all intriguing. Perfectly predictable.

All you need is a duke. Laughed so hard,I cried. My Hubby wanted in on the hilarity. Plus, it was a good story—not the usual formulaic romance. It does need a good editor, tho I’ve seen worse.

Poor editing. Great plot, poor execution.

DNF. Yet. This is a sweet story. Jasper is amazingly perfect in all ways.. he’s too perfect. He comes across as the best girlfriend any woman would die to have.

Time passer read. This book was ok, it had some funny- ridiculous moments but failed to bring out much emotion towards the couple as a pair. Probably would not re-read

Your “American” is showing…. At the beginning of the story, a slight contempt for the time period is shown, which I find with some writers who write from a current world view and not one from the time and space it is set, and from a different cultural background. For all our modernism, people a 50/100 years from now will have a similar contempt for us, too. It shows a lack of understanding. Within the first half page the word “tycoon” appears, which is 30 years too early for the time set, and the wrong context - it was created for the Japanese economists in the 1850/60’s. Words like these are sprinkled through the text, making me want to quote “You keep using this word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” Words like lackadaisical. And magnate. Maybe it’s tongue in cheek? But it’s jarring to be pulled from a nice flow by having to reread something that doesn’t fit. Overall, it’s a sweet story much in the same vein as Georgette Heyer. And some parts are incredibly witty. I won’t stop reading further stories by Bianca Blythe, but the above writing problems don’t immerse me fully into the story. Which don’t make me love it.
