Burning Up by Tara Wyatt Book Summary

We have to burn to rise from the ashes.

Nearly two years after her divorce, Felicity Hawthorne is ready to date again. At least, she thinks she would be, if the idea of dating wasn't so freaking terrifying. But then she wins a date with sexy, swoony firefighter Noah Prescott at a charity bachelor auction, and everything changes.

FDNY captain Noah isn't looking for a relationship. Since losing his father as a teenager, he's spent the past twenty years shouldering heavy responsibilities, and he knows he doesn't have the time or energy to be anyone's boyfriend. But one date with sweet, charming Felicity has him wanting things he shouldn't want.

Which is why Noah suggests Felicity practice her budding dating skills with him. He wants more of her, and practice dates are as close as he can come to having her in his life without hurting her. But then dating practice turns into practice of another kind—the kind that involves moans and sighs and orgasms—and Noah knows he's going to fall. Hard.

Combustible. Burning Up, the sixth book in The Prescotts series by Tara Wyatt, is passionate on a whole different level. Noah is without a doubt a selfless man of courage in the truest sense of the world…more so for the responsibilities he carries out of quilt than as a Firefighter. Noah and Felicity’s chemistry is palpable, literally surging off the pages…and yet what was more breath stealing about the couple was his understanding for and tenderness towards her. Each story in the series has been remarkable in its own way, yet Noah and Felicity’s captured my heart on such a heart wrenching level that they have remained with me long after their story has ended. The level of their intimacies was heart pounding, their honesty inspired, and Noah’s care and concern that Felicity re-establish her own self worth was endearing. An emotional attachment was easily established with the couple…one that will sorely be missed as the series winds down to one remaining book. This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the author. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Burning Up. Fantastic book with wonderful characters that’s a must read. I enjoyed this marvelous book. ❤️👍

The Heat. Noah and Felicity were burning up the pages! Hot Firefighter with guilt a mile long saves hot, divorcée teacher from a stuck elevator. The moment they touch is sparks flying everywhere. Oh well, she’ll never see him again. FF a few days later, charity auction, rescued teacher is at a fundraiser with her girlfriends and who’s a bachelor on the block…hot Noah! Oh her friends have got to be the best friends ever because they drop 7 large on Captain Noah Prescott of the FDNY. Their date turns out magical. He can see a Felicity she doesn’t see, and she can dissect Noah so well it scares and intrigues him. Noah isn’t “relationship material” because he has too many responsibilities. Well those self imposed responsibilities may have him missing the woman that was made just for him. If you haven’t read any of the Prescott men by Tara Wyatt, you can start here, but go back to the beginning too. These fellas really keep you reading and then women who are in their lives are amazing. 4.5⭐️ 3.75🔥

Hot and Sweet. This is a fun, yet emotional read. Both Noah and Felicity are carrying a lot of personal baggage, but somehow manage to find happiness with each other. I really enjoyed the concept of “practice dating” as Felicity was getting back into the game. Noah seemed to be such a kind and caring guy…until he wasn’t. His baggage seemed a little too heavy for how long he’d been carrying it, which made me raise my eyebrows once or twice at the continual heaviness of his load and his willingness to continue to carry it. Felicity was delight as she learned how to re-navigate (okay, that’s not really a word) the dating world. I enjoyed the slow build of their attraction that took off like an inferno. An enjoyable read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my freely given, honest review.

Felicity & Noah. Felicity is a divorced high school English teacher who gets stuck in an elevator at school. NYFD is called and she is rescued by workaholic firefighter, Noah. They both feel an attraction but don’t act on their feelings then. The following evening Felicity’s friends help her win a date with Noah at a fundraiser bachelor auction. Felicity hasn’t dated since her divorce 18 months ago and lacks self confidence and handsome Noah has been too busy to date. Noah doesn’t want a relationship but offers to “practice date” with Felicity so she will become more confident. Will they develop feelings for one another or will Noah’s need to take care of everyone else tear them apart? I enjoyed this story where the hero fireman saves the girl and they become involved and give it 4.5 stars. The author did a great job showing how both Felicity and Noah continue to be effected by events from their pasts. Felicity was still upset that her husband had cheated on her and Noah was on a quest to save everyone.

Can he change his thinking?. Noah thinks that he has to take care of those in his family and the ones he loves. He does this to the expense of his own happiness. He meets Felicity and they have an instant attraction. She’s divorced and just wants a man to love her and be with her. Noah loves being with her but he’s feeling like he’s being selfish as he’s doing this for himself! If he backs off will he realize that he’ll be doing something that will hurt him forever? Or will he realize that it’s his life and he gets to live it his way? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Noah freaking Prescott. This was one hot story! I enjoyed from beginning to end. Felicity, a high school teacher, recently divorced, unsure about dating again. Noah, Captain of the FDNY, hot, single and doesn’t do relationships. Always looking out for everyone else and taking care of them, Noah doesn’t have time to date or do anything really for himself. Having only been with one man, Felicity has a few insecurities about herself and whether she is good enough. Their friendship and feelings blossom for each other, until something happens and takes a bit of a turn for them. I recommend this story about Noah and Felicity. It is a guaranteed HEA! I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

From a smolder to a blaze. Felicity and Noah take it from a smolder to a full on blaze. Felicity Hawthorne (best book name) is a teacher who meets Noah when he rescues her from being trapped in an elevator. Noah Prescott (another winner of a book name) is just as smitten with Felicity at first sight but that’s going nowhere, right? One auction later, things are heating up, but Noah has responsibilities and Felicity is gun shy. Plenty of sparks for these two. Recommend.

Hot. Felicity is a divorced teacher, she meets Nathan when she is trapped in an elevator at the school. Nathan is a Captain at Fire Department. After they go on “practice” dates and end up falling for each other. Nathan accepting her despite her hang ups was so sweet.

Tender and Sweet. Touching read and I love the parallel that a group of female friends meeting and discussing books, food, and their lives versus romance novels. I found the story of sexy hot firefighter Noah and English teacher slash drama teacher Felicity’s story sweet and tender. Definite worth reading. The author had some pronoun confusions that can be remedied with proofread or update fix.

Loved Noah’s Story. This is the sixth book in the Prescott series. You don't have to read the previous books but they are all connected. I love these Prescott cousins. While Noah's cousin Lucien’s story is still number one in my heart, I think Noah’s is a very close second. If you've read book five (Levi's story) you've already gotten a good look at the way Noah considers himself responsible for everyone he loves and cares for. He takes care of them at the expense of his own happiness but when he meets Felicity, he starts wanting to be with her because she makes him happy which also makes him feel selfish for wanting something for himself. Felicity is divorced and just wants a man who will put her first for once. These two are so hot together but will Noah make the changes in this life to make their relationship work? The characters feel real, flaws and all. They are face fanning hot together. Can't wait to get my hands on Hudson’s story next. It's the last of the Prescotts series.

Favorite couple in the series. The only thing wrong with this book is that I wanted more! More trash talk, more quiet moments between Noah and Felicity. More Prescott brother/cousin/significant others hang outs. Otherwise, I adored it. And those aren’t complaints…just wishes! Noah was the brother I wanted to know most about. The oldest, the firefighter following in his deceased dad’s footsteps. The protector of those around him, as well as protecting his own heart. The grump with the heart of gold. I got all that and more. Felicity brought lightness to his darkness, a bit of naughty that I didn’t see coming…but adored. In a series full of great characters, these two might be my favorite. I’m going to be sad when Hudson’s story is over, because then the series ends. But I’ll be happy that I’ve spent time with these men and the women who love them, and can enjoy their stories over and over again.

Phoenix from the ashes. I was jealously of Felicity, not because of Noah (well, this may not true), but her friendship with the girls. I have never had this kind of friendship in my life. I meant, like her friend would contribute a fortune in order to help her get the man of her dream. As a person who used to put all others burdens on my own shoulders, I completely understood the responsibilities that Noah felt, and the wish to pleased and helped others, put others needs before himself, also the guilty you would fell if you failed them. However, like Noah, I was glad that finally I broke free from the prison I had built for myself, and learnt that I was not supposed to responsible for others burdens and lives. Everybody should look after and take care of their own lives and decisions. Phoenix from the ashes, the tattoo Noah asked his brother to design for him, was the symbol of the transformation in both Noah and Felicity that connected with the life changing incident that changed Noah, which led him to admit and accept his true feeling and needs, and recognised that he had the right to live a happy life. A good read. I like this book.

Learning To Love Together. Noah had given up on relationships, as he was dealing with a serious case of unwarranted guilt and felt he had to only concentrate on his job and his family. Felicity swore of men after her divorce, as she didn’t want to go through pain she suffered in her past. However, things changed for both of them after the bachelor auction date. Unfortunately, just as they acknowledge their feelings for each other, Noah’s unresolved issues return and nearly cost them their happily ever after. The author’s use of a true life incident as the backstory to Noah’s unwarranted guilt issue, made the story much more realistic and interesting. The emotional roller-coaster these two go through will have you rooting for them to get their forever happiness. I have no doubts that you will love reading this as much as I did. This is a book worth recommending. I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Burning Up. Amazing story! So touching and heartwarming a real tear jerker. Tara’s writing is captivating and emotionally felt. I enjoyed reading this book so much that I read it in one day. Beautiful story about survival guilt, grief, sacrifice, unconditional love and so much more. A definite read 🥰!

4 1/2 Stars for this sweet romance!. I loved Felicity and Noah. Felicity is just so down to earth, but didn't see herself as being enough for anyone. And Noah ... who wouldn't love him? He's a hunk with a heart of gold, a protector and he loves his family unconditionally. Even though it was a dire situation, I loved the way they met ... Noah rescuing her from a stalled elevator. Ms. Wyatt has a realistic style of writing from the banter between the characters to the situations that take place. I felt like I was a bystander in the story with them. This is a great addition to the series and I can't wait for Hudson's story. Felicity's ex cheated on her and now she feels that she was the problem, that she'll never be enough for anyone. Noah feels responsible for his father's death and that he has to make it up to his family by always being there for them or to help in any way he can. He doesn't have time for a relationship ... and he feels he doesn't deserve to find happiness. Their worlds will never be the same after their eyes meet. I received an early copy courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.

enticing and exciting. BURNING UP is the sixth instalment in Tara Wyatt’s contemporary, adult THE PRESCOTTS erotic, first responder, romances series. This is thirty-two year old, high school English teacher Felicity Hawthorne, and thirty-five year old firefighter Captain Noah Prescott’s story line. BURNING UP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Tod from dual third person perspectives (Noah and Felicity) BURNING UP follows the building romance and relationship between thirty-two year old, high school English teacher Felicity Hawthorne, and thirty-five year old firefighter Noah Prescott. Trapped in a school elevator, Felicity would be rescued by FDNY Captain Noah Prescott. A few days later, Felicity would come face to face with her hero at the local charity auction, where she and her friends would buy a date with Noah Prescott. One thing leads to another, and Felicity and Noah agree to another date, a practice date for both in the face of months without an actual relationship, a practice date that quickly turns into something more. Noah’s schedule is often filled days and weeks at a time, and finding time for the woman with whom he will fall in love is a struggle, a struggle that will threaten the future between our story line couple. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Noah and Felicity, and the potential fall-out as Noah battles years of guilt, guilt that will be compounded when Noah blames himself for an accident that hurt someone else. Noah Prescott continues to battle his demons since the death of his father over twenty years earlier. Always placing his family and friends before anything else, Noah struggles to find time for Felicity Hawthorne, a struggle that continues with his day to day life. Felicity Hawthorne has loved and lost having witnessed the demise of her marriage in the face of her ex-husband’s betrayal and affair. Thinking she has found a potential future with Noah Prescott, Felicity is blindsided when Noah pushes her out of his life, to focus on family and friendships, instead. The relationship between Noah and Felicity is one of instant attraction but neither one expected to ever act on their first encounter. Noah struggles to find the time in his relationship with Felicity, and their relationship will suffer when when Noah’s ongoing guilt continues to pull him under. The $ex scenes are intimate erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including fellow first responders, Noah’s brother Hudson, and Felicity’s friends who are all about supporting their bestie when her life spirals out of control. BURNING UP is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; of sacrifice and guilt, acceptance and understanding. The character driven premise is enticing and exciting; the romance is seductive and steamy; the characters are fun and flirty.

Burning Up by Tara Wyatt. “Burning Up” was smoking’ HOT!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Noah & Felicity’s instant attraction was flamed with help of a charity auction & her friends, however their hearts are what keeps them together. I have loved every single member of The Prescott’s and Tara Wyatt never disappoints the readers. Her book description (& covers) are enough to grab your attention. 📖 🚒🧯🔥 If you love an author that can juggle so many personalities, create believable storylines, add humour & challenges, draws you into the emotions and make you wish you were part of this family of genuinely amazing siblings/ cousins… start reading them. It’s the 6th out of 7 in Prescott series.
