One Little Indiscretion. The story was so enthralling that I quickly read this. I kept turning the pages so quickly that I'm surprised my e-reader is still working. This is a wonderful start to a new series. A group of autocratic men form a group. When they were younger, they were thieves (interesting). They all bought into the military and fought against the French. Unfortunately not all of them made it home. Carew Harcourt (Duke of Edenthorpe) escapes death during the war when his friend, Emanuel pushes him out of the way of a ball (they loaded their pistols with balls back then not bullets). He promises his dying friend to look after his younger sister, Leah, and make sure she marries a "good" man. Harcourt is riddled with guilt. He doesn't contact Leah because of the guilt. Fast forward, ten years, Leah approaches Harcourt less than two weeks before his wedding to ask for a favor. She needs a thief to steal back her mother's tiara from a despicable man. Leah is a bright spot in Harcourt's life. Leah was also his friend along with her brother. As the two go about their mission, things really heat up between them. Their attraction grows but both are conflicted since his pending wedding is moving closer and closer. Harcourt feels nothing for his fiancee. He has been betrothed since childhood. Harcourt knows his duty to his family but what of his happiness? What the author put these two through again had me on an emotional roller-coaster. A word of warning, tissues are needed! There is some sexy scenes that may offend some so a word of warning there as well.

Complications. Leah wishes to retrieve, then sell, her mother’s stolen tiara for the money they need to live on. She turns to her brother’s friend, the Duke of Edenthorpe, for help. Harcourt has a little experience with theft. As they plan and work together, they fall for each other. Their possible romance is complicated by his previous engagement (betrothed since childhood, neither her nor his fiancée desire the match). Will these two be able to get the tiara without getting caught, or worse? Will Harcourt be able to break the engagement so that he and Leah can be together? An interesting story with a complex plot filled with intrigue, action, and danger. The characters are great. There is an evil unpredictable (actually crazy) Marquess, a desperate young heroine, and an honorable hero. I love Leah and Harcourt. Theirs is a slow-burn, for a while uncertain romance, but things have a way of working out as they should. This is a wonderful beginning for a new series. I look forward to more.
