Sully. This book was great! It was different from the movie. The book never mentions that Sully and his co-pilot were accused of not returning to an airport because there was only one engine out. Clearly from the book, both engines were inoperable.

AMAZING. This is an amazing book about an amazing man. It was a great read I couldn't put it down, finished it in one day. I love airplanes, unfortunately I am terrified of flying. I would fly with this man any day.'

Highest calling. Fabulous story of airmanship and courage. As a private pilot, I can appreciate the dedication to the pursuit of air safety. I wonder if the simulators are using his flight and would other pilots make the same decisions?

The life of a pilot. Not a hero- just prepared.. I like many others witnessed the ditching of flight 1549 in the Hudson on tv, and like many others the intial though was that whoever did this was a hero. No longer. Captain Sullenburger and his crew had a job to do, and this did it. Professionally, and to the best of their abilities. As a result, 155 people lived. This book is not only the story of that flight, but also of a life time of training that led to that moment. An inspiration story of someone who, despite taking pay cuts and losing benefits, came to work to do the right thing. I would throughly recommend this book to anyone, aviation enthusiast such as myself or not, as a story of what can be done when it must be done, and being prepared to do it.

Ok the better book is Miracle on the Hudson. You have to admire the man, just as you would be excused from not liking his book. Read the two big books on this subject back to back. This one "Highest Duty" and the "Miracle on the Hudson". Miracle tells it better. Maybe because Captain Sully is just one man in this incredible story, and to hear it from his point of view only is to miss out on the perspectives of a great many other people who also played a part. I gladly gave my purchase price to Captain Sully and his publisher. For the full story read the other book too.

Why we all must excel.... As an airline pilot, and as an everyday person, this book speaks to me from both sides. As I sit in this coffee shop, nobody knows the low lying fog i have flown in this week. Or the excessive wind that I had to approach and land in recently. As such, this book shows why pilots are so important, the training you must go through, and more importantly, the amount of life spent on your dime honing your knowledge and skill. When in the flight deck it's a different world, and this book shows how fast your experience must be drawn on to save the day when the unthinkable becomes evident. This book shows to it's readers what someone can do when they have pushed themselves in their industry, as loving their job means it doesn't feel like work, and hence they learn even when not being paid to. This book is an amazing read, and emotional when you put yourself in the position these guys and girls were in. We could all do with appreciating that pilots and crew are there for your safety. Our companies don't treat us with the respect they used to. As such it's so important to remember how hard you could be called on to save the day with the right crew and to work as a team. It's peoples own resolve in life that maintains the standard in this industry, and this applies to all industries. It's reminds you why you should push to be the best you can be. Enjoy!

Highest Duty. A book full of facts of life as a pilot with a family and how complex things can get in the cockpit environment when things go pear shaped. Truly admire Captain Sullenburger's determination and will, to live life to it's fullest taking into account all his previous experiences, both family and flying, laid out in this book which led him to successfully ditching the Airbus in the Hudson. A great read especially for all pilots out there!

Sully. I really enjoyed this book, in fact, more than the movie which I saw very recently.

Just amazing. I remember clearly when this incident occurred , I was at work , watching live tv just after the landing was captured on tv . I've been an avid fan of flying all my life , not a pilot until I started learning in 2010 . After now 3 years of flying and also going through my own forced landing from engine failure 8 months ago , reading this story really does give you faith . As Sully explains in detail of his up bringing and many challenges during his life , he has a wonderful sense of being . I get this when reading this book . I almost feel like I know him now too . The book was well told , such a great successful person , pilot . Husband , father . This book works through such experiences which only so many would have . Living through the eyes of a man who saved all those lives , not forgetting the crew on the flight also help save those on board . Well done !! Dave Carroll
