Meh.. I'm just astonished that 26 years later, people still find this book remarkable. It's not. It wasn't.

Thought Provoking. I had to read this book for school and I wasn't sure what to expect from it. I usually do not find the assigned reading to be particularly interesting, but this book is nothing like anything i've ever read before. This book explores complex ideas in a way that will surely make you sit back and think about what he is really trying to say. Great read!

Paradigm shift. "Ishmael," as well as Quinn's "Story of B," will completely change the way you view civilization, religion, "nature," humans, and culture. If you are looking to get a big picture of the state of the world, read this book. I have since re-read "Ishmael" and "Story of B" a couple times each. Quinn's books are even more relevant today than when he wrote them, which is more than most books can say.

Ishmael. This was a brilliantly moving novel. Please read if you want to learn a valuable lesson about how best to save the world. Or at least enter a mindset that this endeavor is well within our grasp. A truly timeless piece of literature. Thank you, Daniel Quinn, for writing this book.

One of the best books I've ever had the pleasure of reading!. This books makes you look at the world in a completely different way. It makes you wonder and it just opens your mind to a different way of thinking. I would recommend this book to anyone!

You should read it. It’s eye-opening and explanatory and pretty interesting, but, although it’s only 288 pages, it feels very long and can be incredibly boring at times. It is a good book and I think everyone should read it at least once, but be prepared for some confusing paragraphs and hard-to-understand words. Read the book, though! If it seems annoying and you want to stop, DON’T. Again, everyone should read it at least once. It is a life changing book.

Greatness. This is one of my top5 books of all time. A good majority of my friends have read it and we all reference pieces as we grow older. I suggest it to anyone under 25 entering the world.

Pretty shallow. The overall message of the book isn’t bad, but the writing is terrible and the entire plot feels like a weird straw man argument where author gets to regurgitate his views to a idiotic protagonist while hiding it behind a gorilla. Might be a good read for middle school kids

This Book Actually Changed My Life. Quinn knocked it out of the park with this one, it is beautifully written and makes you reevaluate your outlook on life. I read it for a class and have been hooked ever since. The beauty of the book is it uses simple themes to deliver a profound message. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
