So try The Black Cauldron and trust me you won’t regret buying it.

You try the appetizer; now, begin the feast!. If The Book of Three was the appetizer in a five-course meal, The Black Cauldron is the heartier second course. I never read these books as a kid, so I'm trying to let my twelve-year-old self come out to visit so he can enjoy the experience. This book is much more mature than its predecessor, involving heavier themes, darker characters, and a good deal less deus ex machina. I had seen the Disney film and was pretty sure I knew how this story would end. I won't spoil anything but to say ... I was wrong. And the book is much better for it. Even if you disagree with my review of Book of Three, do check out this sequel. You might find it was just that the appetizer was juuuuuuuust a bit too light and fluffy for your taste.
