Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi Book Summary

Fighting to survive in a ravaged world, a Dweller and a Savage form an unlikely alliance in New York Times bestselling author Veronica Rossi's "unforgettable dystopian masterpiece" (Examiner.com).

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—known as The Death Shop—are slim. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild—a savage—and her only hope of staying alive. A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile—everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption.

In alternating chapters told in Aria's and Perry's voices, Under the Never Sky subtly and powerfully captures the evolving relationship between these characters and sweeps readers away to a harsh but often beautiful world. Continuing with Through the Ever Night and concluding with Into the Still Blue, the Under the Never Sky trilogy has already been embraced by readers in twenty-six countries and been optioned for film by Warner Bros.

I loved it!. So well written, a beautiful story!!!! I could not put it down, now I'm on to the second book!! <3

Awesome!!. This book plot is so new!! It was really sci-fi, I have never thought about that option before!! It was weird and confusing in the beginning, but it gets way better!!!! I loved Perry and Aria!! The book was fast paced, funny, awesome, and romantic!! It made me laugh that Perry and Aria hated each other at first, but then fell in love!! The new world was well developed and interesting!!!! It was very cute! It's a short and fun read!! It was a perfect ending!! You will be wanting more right away!!

Cool Premise But Not Dystopian: Barely Post-Apocalyptic. #1 Issue- It’s supposed to be the future after a big unexplained catastrophic event, but 90% of the setting takes place in tribal huts in the woods, and then migrates to a weird castle fortress, which really messed up my perception of the time period. There’s no real mention of pollution or abandoned cities to make it feel post-apocalyptic. If you’re into that kind of thing, this is the book for you, but I went into this expecting sci-fi elements, and all I got were VR contacts and an evil councilman. Most definitely NOT dystopian. Also, what the heck is Aether? #2) Plot: It’s got some action, but I feel the second book is better. #3) While the characters themselves weren’t groundbreaking in their uniqueness, I found their relationships to be the best part of the book because they were more layered than I expected. I enjoyed the romance: Aria and Perry were both flawed, but I think they (Aria especially) developed nicely throughout the story, and their relationship was sweet. •Overall, not what I expected, but I’m invested enough in their relationships to keep reading.

Get it.. Read it all today. It kept me entranced the whole time. The beginning is a little bit confusing at first but then comes action/adventure/romance. Definitely just get it. You won't regret it!

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi. Veronica Rossi's Under the Never Sky is one of the latest "trendy" dystopian books to be hitting the YA market these days, but don't let that dissuade you from trying it out. It has all the familiar flavors: beautiful girl (Aria) discovers that even though her world is literally falling apart around her, there may be more to what she believes as the norm; she finds herself in a situation that pits her against the reigning governmental body; enter the hot guy (Perry) that will help her, reluctantly in this case, overcome all her obstacles; she may or may not fall hard for said hot guy, in the middle of trying to save the world/her family/herself; vague, cliffhanger-ish ending. What Rossi does do is whip all these familiar ingredients into something that, to me at least, felt fresh and new. Aria's world is split into two distinct locales. There are the enclosed domes where Aria lives, where everything is controlled and there are no diseases and everyone is plugged into the Realms, virtual reality worlds that are supposedly more real than reality. Then there is the outside, where nature runs its course, and people live off the land and where some people have even developed more heightened senses to help them survive. When Aria finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, she is exiled into the outside, or Death Shop, where she expects to die instantly from any number of diseases that she has been protected from by living in the dome. When she doesn't die from exposure, she is sure that she will die from the unpredictable, wild electrical storms that ravage the land, but is rescued by Perry. After they are thrust into a situation where they reluctantly need each others help, they begin to learn more about each other and begin to realize that they may have more in common than they ever expected. I really liked the back and forth point of view shifts from Aria and Perry. Each chapter was told from one of their perspectives, and that made it nice to see the world as each of them saw it, and also how they looked at and thought about each other. I think this is one of the things that helps this book; so many of these books are told from just the female protagonists point of view lately, it was actually a fresh take to see it come from his point of view as well. Rossi's worldbuilding, I felt, was strong enough to not require a lot of unnecessary explanation. The only thing that is more or less left for the reader to just accept as is are the electrical storms and aether. There isn't much in the way of any explanation as to what either these storms are or what they are composed of; however, I think this will probably be something that will be explained in one of the later books, as this is the first part of another trilogy. This is actually the only drawback for me on this book. Enough of the trilogies already! I'm on series overload. I'd really like one of these recent YA stories to be nothing more than a nice, little self-contained story, thankyouverymuch. That aside, Rossi is a strong storyteller and of course I'll be there, picking up the next book in the series when it is released next year.

Excellent trilogy, not Children’s Fiction!. Have listened to the audio trilogy twice and the world created by Veronica Rossi is awesome, more real and visceral than the Divergent or the Hunger Games trilogies. Perry, Aria, Roar and a full colorful cast come alive in the reading/listening. Totally awesome, didn’t want it to end! However, there is more sensuality in this trilogy than in some YA fiction and this is definitely mis-categorized as Children’s Fiction on iTunes!!!!!

Consumed my life. I never take the time to write reviews, EVER. After reading this, I had to. Best book I have read in a very long time. Do yourself a favor and read this now!! So sad it's over. What to do with my life now...

Good. Waiting for the next one!

I've re-read it multiple times and I don't usually do that.. Wonderful book. I've re-read it multiple times and I don't usually do that. I found both the characters and the world well made. Aria's character goes from being a part of her very tiny and unrealistic world to the terrified girl she is and then excels. I love when a character can not only bounce back, but turn around and conquer their problems. Perry is an excellent combination of teen and adult in a world where he's not really either. I think that if this hadn't been written from both character's POVs that it would have suffered. This was an excellent choice by Rossi. We find out just enough of the world to know that no part of it's perfect and that we want to know more about how it came to be. The storyline progresses a little fast for me at certain points. I found the acceleration of of Aria and Perry's friendship to be a tad bit unrealistic, but that's not unusual for me. Just a personal pet peeve.

Boring. I like the premise but I don't care about the characters

Amazing!!! :) :D. One of the best books! A must read for instance Divergent or the Hunger Games. Dystopian Novels are great! Stayed up till midnight to read!!

Love. One of the best series I've ever read. Veronica Rossi is so poetic in the way she writes.

OMIGOSH.. I love this book! If you liked the hunger games series or are a fan of the genre u will LOVE this book! Wow. It took me a few days to finish this, I was so glued to the pages! SPOILER: the ending was a little confusing to if she was dreaming or if it was actually happening, but hey, it's kind of romantic<333 if ur thinking about getting this, do it it is SO worth your money!!!!!! Can't wait for the next one!

Start promising, ends disappointing. This book started well enough. It was intriguing, and I really liked the concept. And let it be known, I like a dystopian romance as much as the next girl. But this one didn't do it for me, I just didn't believe in this love story. One minute they're snarling at eachother in the wilderness and the next she's losing her virginity to him in a banged up treehouse in the woods. The perspective of the narrative doesn't work, I don't believe they really care for eachother. He is intoxicated by her smell, and she's carried away by his rugged looks, that's all I'm getting. The hyper sense of smell plus this weird circumstance of the "rendering" (never explained well) smacks of Twilight. *shudders* If you're into this genre read the Article 5 series, very well done-and truly romantic at that.

Great Debut!. Great first novel! Definitely a must read in 2012 for any fan of this genre - it's refreshing to find a novel with actual character development and a quick moving plot. I can't wait for the sequel!
