Great Period Excitement. This book was an exciting read for almost teen to early teens in the 50's and early 60's. I remember reading it late 50's to early 60's and was fascinated by the action and scientific principles I learned. Would probably be a good read for late 10's to early teens today (2017) if they have progressed into 4-6 or higher reading levels. Would be a fun read at bed-time by a parent to a kid. The parent just might learn some science! This author was a fine writer of science with the ability to explain lofty scientific ideas in a way kids and their parents could understand....much like Carl Sagan in the next generation. My highest child's book rating the story of which stands up well over time. It teaches AND entertains.

Classic. I am in my mid-50s now and I read this book for the first time when I was approximately 13 to 14 years old. it’s just a great action adventure that does take a few liberties as far as Martians and Venusians etc. As the years went by I began to understand that this story was a very good analogy of the relations between capitalism versus communism. I just read it again a few days ago and it’s just as good as the first time.
