Asfixia by Chuck Palahniuk Book Summary

Victor Mancini, un estudiante de medicina fracasado, ha diseñado un complejo plan para cubrir los gastos de la atención médica de su madre. Fingir que se asfixia con un pedazo de comida en un restaurante para que la persona que acuda a «salvarlo» se sienta responsable de él durante el resto de su vida. Y le pase un cheque. Si se practica en varios centenares de restaurantes, la lluvia de dinero está garantizada.
Entre una actuación y otra en los restaurantes, Victor también se gana la vida representando el papel de un campesino miserable en un parque temático dedicado a la América colonial del siglo XVIII, acude a un grupo de terapia para adictos al sexo (la mejor manera de conocer mujeres) y visita a su madre, cuya vena anárquica hizo de la infancia de Victor una auténtica locura.
Un antihéroe en tiempos de insania, y una novela que confirma a Palahniuk, autor de El club de la lucha, como una de las voces más frescas y desopilantes de la narrativa norteamericana.
