Timeless. Such a great read! Started reading and couldn't put it down until I was done! Amazing love story.

Wonderful writer, awesome love story!!!. I NEVER write reviews, but this book is so good, and this writer so new I felt like everyone who likes well written romance needs to know about her. I read all four of her published books in three days!! Needless to say, I was hooked. All four were good, but this one "His Captive Bride," was by far the best, and my favorite. Thacker is an awesome author. Her stories make sense, and even when they feature super natural elements, the characters are always well developed and believable. The dialogue is witty and intelligent. And her love scenes and both tender and steamy at the same time. Her story pacing is perfect. I never find myself bored, and skipping through pages to get to the "good parts" ( which I frequently do in most other books). Her writing keeps me hooked from beginning to end. She is a very sensual writer, meaning she focuses on appealing to the readers senses...whether that's a journey through a forest, or her characters' more intimate pursuits... Ms. Thacker makes you feel as if you are experiencing it yourself. Her characters are sweet and tender, and they always fall in love. If you like bad boys, or dark brooding characters, her books don't exactly fill that bill. But like I said, her characters feel like real people falling in love. The only criticism I have (if it's a criticism at all...) is that it seems like in all her books that the characters pretty much all fall in live within a couple of days... That part seems a little fast... But still great. Can't wait to read her books coming out in 2014. Enjoy!!!

His Captive Bride. I just wanted to recommend to everybody this book if they are into a love and history romance, I didn't know about the author but I will definitely buy another book.

This is a keeper. I rarely keep a book and read it a second time but I can see myself picking this one up again at some point. I read it in record time and enjoyed every last second of this story. I loved all the secondary characters as well and look forward to reading about their stories in future books (I hope!).This book had an element of magic which I adored and the romance was perfect!

His Captive Bride. This has to be the absolute best novel I have EVER read! Non-stop action, exquisitely written romance and emotionally draining. I couldn't put it down. I started in the morning and kept reading til the wee hours until I was done. Wonderful book, highly recommend it! Only wish I had a Hauk too! 💕

Couldn't stop reading!. I don't usually write reviews but I really think this book and author deserved one. The book was well written and the storyline was well thought out. I loved the leading man and woman and the magical plot made the book vastly more interesting than many romance novels I have read. The details really helped set the scenes as well. I wish it didn't end. Would highly recommend!

A great read. I read this book in a day and a half. Really enjoyed it! Loved that it was set in a magical land and that the heroine was strong willed and intelligent but also vulnerable and loving. If you like steamy but tender romance, you'll enjoy this book. I would love to read more about the secondary characters' lives - hope the author does more stories about the people of Asgard.

Didn't Want It to End. I didn't realize until I began reading "His Captive Bride" that it wasn't a historical romance, but a paranormal romance, an unfamiliar genre to me. However, I enjoyed it very much. In particular, I liked how the author described the intimacy between the H/h, the action, and the characters. My only criticism would be that it ended too soon. In fact, I didn't want it to end.

Wonderful!. It made me cry it was very bittersweet. It had love, action and romance. I don't usually write reviews but this book is definitely worth it.

Timeless. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters touched your heart. You can feel connection between the characters, Avril and Hauk and want them to get together forever.

sweet. It was a sweet tale with a hint of magic, true love, and fate. While I knew that true love would win, what kind of romance would it be otherwise, the ending was unexpected. The bad guys were bad guys and good guys were good and all of the characters were very transparent in the story. I enjoyed the reading but doubt that this book will make it into my pile to read again.

One of my new favorite books!. Loved this book! Had me hooked since the first chapter & it just kept getting better & better. Loved all the twists & everything about it. It was so funny, sweet & romantic. My type of book! If you want a great read, this is the book for you!

One of the Best!. This 3rd book in her 'Stolen Bride Series' is another of my favorites. Even when she is writing about supernatural things/occurences she makes you believe it is possible and you are there right along side her in the story rooting along for the characters to be together through all the trials and tribulations. Another great work Shelly.

Wow... Great read!! 4 and a 1/2 stars. This story was just the perfect romance and i loved every ounce of it. Though it takes a bit long to get into the story, (however less than most novels) it is worth every inch of time reading! Such a beautiful story and very well written, at a comprehensive but grammatically correct English. My only regret is the fact that we didn't get to dig deeper into the characters' personalities earlier in the story, and didn't get to become attached to them earlier on. But it was a wonderful read which brought tears to my eyes. Good job to the author, and I wish the story continued!!

Must read!!. Absolutely loved this book!! Great story, great characters. I only wish there was an epilogue, I would love to know how many children they had, and how they grew old together......other than that, it's a great book!

Awesome. I didn't expect much when I started reading this but I realized that it's well written, with a plot, instead of the usual "let's write a story around the sex" books. I liked it.

Loved it!. Such a well written and intriguing love story. It grabs you from the beginning and never let's go. The premise of this story was captivating.

Meh.... Fantasy isn't usually my fav when it comes to historical romance, but I gave it a shot. Way too many references to Asgard's "secret" throughout the book, especially when it was pretty clear from the beginning what made the island unique. The ending was completely rushed to the point that it felt that I had wasted my time reading everything up to that point.

His Captive Bride. Time travel books have never been my choice of genre until I found this one. Shelly Thacker has managed to find a formula that just works. It is a love story but for Avril and Hauk to find love everlasting they need to accept a different meaning for 'everlasting' and then overcome the connected obstacles. It is a great story with a twist that makes it a special romance. I loved the concept of eternal life as created by this author so much I intend to read the whole series. The writing style makes this so easy to read. This book was unputdownable. The best compliment I can give.

His captive bride. I was so involved with this book just wanted to be on the Island with them. Keep writing another further plot with Avril and Haulk.

A joyful experience. Shelly is a very talented storyteller. The characters in this story jumped off the page and into my heart. The plot is fascinating and well paced. I shed a tear on my bus journey to work, so will be careful to only read her romances at home in future!
