Cats and fun. The right mix of fun, emotion, adventure and swearing. Plus it has cats … what more need be said. Loved it!

Ridiculous padding!. I loved the book. I loved all Scalzi’s books. The padding, not so much. Through the ebook version there are about 20 blank pages. However each of these pages are numbered, bringing the total number of pages 20 or so more than written. Weird

A lighthearted look into the heart of darkness. Quick and laugh-out-loud repartee with a nimble plot (validating for us cat lovers, too)

Starter Villain. Another fantastic read from John Scalzi. He does a great job telling a tale, and I truly appreciate his efforts to take my mind on a journey that I would never be able to go on otherwise. Thanks John!

Just brilliant! (The you can’t put it down kind). Yet again, Mr Scalzi delights his readers with pace, story and imagination. And all of it delivered in a brilliant style that facilitates a 3 night read for this reader. Great story, great characters, even the non-human ones, and a thrilling twist ending. Well done sir, well done…

Scalzi’s best, again. Best Scalzi is a high bar, but he keeps doing it. I felt Redshirts was his best to date (for my tastes). Kaiju Preservation Society less goofy and less treacly but maybe better, again ymmv. For me, this is best. Best Scalzi. Solid. Twisty. Engrossing. Funny. Swiftly brutal. Satisfying. 5/5 would preorder again

Very Enjoyable Read. Starter Villain is constantly interesting and engrossing. It was unpredictable and I had no idea how it was going to end, until the final chapters. Scalzi’s books are all like that and all full of surprises. Not to mention some very creative premises.

Good but not Red Shirts good. Felt a little forced at times. But still a good read.
