Swoon. As usual from Tanya, an amazing story I couldn’t inhale fast enough!

Hello Mr. Blackmane. Huge thanks to Tanya Byrd for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. First can we have a moment of silence to admire this cover... Wow, still stuns every time. Onto the review. This story follows our heroine Isabel Maddock as she prepares herself to marry the arrogant and abusive Lord Hodge. In the meantime, our hero, Defender Ryder Blackmane has been assigned to escort and guard Lord Hodge to his "work farm" in another city. When he sees what is going on between the future newly weds, his need to save is too strong to handle. Is it love at first sight or is it the need to defend others? I really love Tanya Byrds writing and this book didn't disappoint. This story reintroduced some old characters that I didn't realize I missed until I was entering their lives again. We were also introduced to some new character that I immediately fell in love with. There's talk of these characters having their own story and I really hope they do. The heroine very much plays the damsel in distress in this one which complimented our hero well. On the flip side, I do have to say Mr. Ryder Blackmane has stolen my heart both on and off the battlefield. Give me a fictitious man who dominates with a sword and I'm all in. We are introduced to the rebel groups as well which was exciting and this made for an exciting plot. The world building was whole and kept me interested in the outcome of the story. Overall this was a solid story which did not disappoint. I gave this story 4.5 stars. I had some issues with the main heroine in this one (this is completely a personal preference) but it didn't turn me off enough to keep me from reading or wanting to recommend this book. Pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

Must Read!. Absolutely wonderful! I picked this book up and did not leave it until finished. The characters are well developed and the setting’s exquisitely detailed. The dynamic interactions drew this reader into each scene, anticipating each page turn. Highly recommended!

Bit rushed but enjoyable. Tanya can’t write a bad story. She is an amazing author and I love her humor. This story is no different. It delivers on all the feels. This story does feel a bit rushed in comparison to her other stories but still an enjoyable read.

A good read. Truly enjoyed this book, loved that there wasn't any cursing or sexual scenes.

Exhilarating, action-packed, with some love thrown in. I’m an avid fan of Tanya’s. The way she writes is my favorite (if you read a lot of books, you know😉). She writes about love and loss in the same sentence and you feel every bit of it! Particularly, this book was witty, full of love, action packed, kept me on my toes with twists and turns. You want to read this, trust me! Do yourself a favor, get it! And get the other Kingdom of Walls books too! My favorite series! You will not regret it. Anything by Tanya Bird is a HIT!

Five Stars. Kingdom of Chains captures you from the very first chapter! I love every one of Tanya Birds books and the characters she brings to life! It leaves you thinking about the book long after your done wishing for more!

Superb as always. Another brilliant story from Tanya. I love everything about her writing. A bit of everything in there with great humour as well. My favourite author for sure!!!

Inauthentic. I mean, I get why the author set it in medieval times, because it made her entire plot plausible. But then followed it up with a lot of language that just would have never been used in those times. And things like wire were in her story which was definitely not invented way back then. I lost interest half way through.
