Das folgende Werk ist das Resultat eines Versuches, die Grundlehren des Theophrastus Paracelsus in Bezug auf die Heilkunde und Heilkunst in einer der modernen Auffassungsweise entsprechenden Form deutschen Lesern, welche ein Verständnis dafür besitzen, vorzulegen, und dadurch der wahren medizinischen Wissenschaft einen Dienst zu erweisen. Hierzu wurde der Verfasser besonders dadurch ermutigt, dass ein von ihm in englischer Sprache verfasstes ähnliches Werk in England und Amerika großen Beifall gefunden hat. Die Originalwerke von Paracelsus sind nicht nur sehr umfangreich und erfordern ein jahrelanges Studium zu ihrem Verständnisse, sondern auch in Form und Ausdrucksweise den modernen Ansprüchen nicht angemessen, und wem es mehr um den Kern der Sache selbst, als um die äußere Schale zu tun ist, dem dürfte dieser Grundriss willkommen sein, der zugleich auch als ein zweiter Band zur Ergänzung zu dem bereits erschienenen Werke über die Lehren des Paracelsus über Kosmologie, Anthropologie, Pneumatologie, usw., zu dienen bestimmt ist.
