La comprensión de los textos del Nuevo Testamento requiere situarlos en su contexto sociocultural, que es bien lejano del nuestro. Ser conscientes de esta distancia y de esta diferencia es defender al texto del lector moderno (evitando lecturas etnocéntricas y anacrónicas) y también defender al lector actual del texto (no obligándole a aceptar una visión del mundo que le resulta ajena y, quizá, inasumible). En este libro se presentan, de forma breve y sencilla, varios ejemplos de lecturas de textos del Nuevo Testamento en su contexto cultural. Solo cuando se ha comprendido adecuadamente un texto en su originario contexto histórico y cultural se puede reinterpretarlo hermenéuticamente, es decir, preguntarse por el sentido que puede tener en la actualidad.
