Leggere Rimbaud ci condanna a metterci in marcia. La vita del poeta delle Illuminazioni e di Una stagione all'inferno è scandita dal movimento. Rimbaud scappa dalle Ardenne, corre nella notte parigina, insegue l'amore in Belgio, passeggia per Londra e infine si butta anima e corpo sulle piste africane. Viaggia - a piedi - senza sosta, cambia punto di vista. L'uomo "dalle suole di vento", come l'ha definito l'amico-amante Verlaine, ha un progetto: trasformare il mondo attraverso le parole. Le sue poesie sono proiettili che colpiscono ancora, a più di centocinquant'anni di distanza. La poesia è il movimento delle cose. Come la vita. Fermarsi significa morire: non l'abbiamo forse vissuta in prima persona la morte da paralisi inflittaci dal Covid-19 che ci ha costretti in casa, davanti a uno schermo, del cellulare, del computer, del televisore?
Sylvain Tesson, viaggiatore instancabile, proprio durante la pandemia ha infilato nello zaino le poesie di Rimbaud e ha deciso di ripercorrere - a piedi - una delle prime "fughe" del poeta, quella che nell'ottobre 1870 lo portò da Charleville-Mézières, sua città natale, a Bruxelles via Charleroi. "I luoghi scolpiscono l'uomo" scrive Tesson, che in questo libro s'immerge nel paesaggio dell'infanzia rimbaudiana, punto di partenza di un autentico "raid sulla poesia": "Due raccolte come un'esplosione, un silenzio assordante, una vita vissuta con la rapidità di un fulmine e la morte a trentasette anni con una gamba amputata e un nodo alla gola". Perché camminare - stato supremo della poesia - è, con la letteratura, l'antidoto alla noia.
