Hamburg, in der Zukunft. Die 37-jährige Mathilda lebt in einer Diktatur. Sie beendet ihre ungewollte Schwangerschaft heimlich mit einem Kleiderbügel – obwohl auf Abtreibungen in Deutschland eine lebenslange Haftstrafe steht. Das Gesetz hat die SfDD (Sieg für Deutschland und die Deutschen) unmittelbar nach ihrer Machtübernahme erlassen. Mit diesem drastischen Schritt beginnt Mathildas innere Rebellion gegen ein Regime, das sie zur Gebärmaschine degradieren will. Mathilda verrät ihrem Mann Finn nichts und spricht auch sonst mit niemandem, um ihr Verbrechen geheim zu halten. Doch dann entzünden sich ihre inneren Verletzungen.
"Wir doch nicht" erzählt die Geschichte von Mathilda, beschreibt den Alltag in einer Diktatur, in der Frauen unterdrückt werden, und wie eine freie Demokratie zu einem totalitären Regime geworden ist.
