Reconnecting again. This was an interesting story of a woman leaving her home and job because of a stalker to return to her small hometown. She starts a new job and runs into a man from her past. But they keep getting thrown together but the past keeps popping up! What now? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Love, healing and danger.. I loved William and Lucy’s second chance healing romantic suspense tale. The story had a good blend of sweet moments, spice, laughs, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, secrets, a bit of danger, and all the love. The slow ratcheting up of the tension that accompanies the glimpses of the bad guy is an added dimension to the romance storyline. Lucy is working as a news producer in small town Confluence while hiding from a dangerous stalker. William is back home in Confluence to take over his family’s media empire while continuing to rehab his tarnished public image. Lucy and William met almost a decade ago when she was an awkward lowly production assistant and he was a popular reality tv star. She remembers him but he does not remember her. On top of being very attracted to each other and being neighbors, things get even more complicated when they go undercover as newly married couple to investigate a local resort. There is a lot of baggage unpacking and a lot of healing required to get to their HEA but it was an exciting and emotional but enjoyable journey. This well written story was a great read and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline.

Endearing and fun!. The Honeymoon Trap Confessions (ARC) by Christina Hovland: 5 stars. William/Lucy go “undercover” as honeymooners, so fake marriage, etc. The ring - hysterical!! Fishing and a twitching rod LOL! And pothole(s). Omg! Add in a crazy/deadly stalker, some secrets, past pains, and a love story. So much goodness in this book… This is a very entertaining and enjoyable story with a perfect HEA. —PTators

Rom-Com With a Healthy Dose of Suspense. 3.5 Stars This book was previously as The Honeymoon Trap back in 2018 and has since been updated and released in March 2024. A workplace, forced proximity, fake relationship, rom-com with a healthy helping of suspense. There were some nice plot twists, good banter, and I loved the secondary and tertiary characters and the parts they played to move the story forward. Overall, I really enjoyed Lucy and William's story and how it all played out; however, I didn't understand the newly wed aspect. They never really acted like newly weds and because of that I kept expecting it to be called out in some way to add to the comedic elements. Note: The festival about the chicken, while the name is slightly different, it's actually legit. Right before I started this book, I saw something on TV about this chicken.

So good!. I thoroughly enjoyed this read! It had bits of all the things I enjoy in a romance. The banter and all the character interactions were top notch. Then Ms. Hovland added just enough suspense in the storyline which felt plausible. Thank you to the author for gifting this wonderful read. I look forward to read more!

Fun romcom with a twist. This is a fun RomCom with a bit of a suspenseful element. Lucy Campbell is starting her life over in Confluence, Colorado. She had been on her way up in the news business as a reporter, but after a incident with a stalker, she needs to hide out behind the camera, and this small town station was a perfect place to do that. William Covington is working as a consumer reporter at the station, but will be inheriting it when he turns 30. Of course, at one point, Lucy and William have to go undercover as a honeymoon couple, so you have the “fake relationship”, and “one bed” tropes, then throw in her stalker, and you have a really enjoyable read. This book is a bit of a departure from the author’s usual RomComs, and though there is no Babushka (who is in a lot of her series), you do have a shotgun toting granny landlord for some comic relief. Overall, a fun book. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.

A suspenseful & fun read!. As always, when you jump into a Christina Hovland book, it’s an adventure. Filled with laughs (always wanted, needed and appreciated), some danger, and an extra helping of feels, this second chance romance (with a dab of suspense) will have you loving it the first time around!
