Stealing the Groom by Sonya Weiss Book Summary

Chad Walker may be a take-no-chances man with a plan, but there's no way Amelia Snyder is going to let her best bud marry Mean Girl #1—even if the wedding is solely so he can secure the controlling shares in his family's company. But free-spirited Amelia's at-the-altar groomnapping scheme takes a surprising turn when she ends up as the blushing bride instead.

Suddenly, with Amelia living in her handsome husband's home—in his bedroom, no less—she starts to reconsider their strictly platonic arrangement. But Chad's always been strictly anti-risk and definitely anti-love, and betting a lifetime of best friendship on the chance at forever might be the biggest gamble of all.

Each book in the Stealing the Heart series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

Fn, lighthearted romance. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book is how a marriage of convenience gets derailed by a "fly by the seat of her pants" best friend, Amelia, who promised Chad, the groom, at 8 yrs. old they would only marry for love. She can't stand the idea of Chad married to "the mean girl" Claire, and what ensues is a twisty tale of how these two wind up together. Amelia is impetuous and Chad plans everything with lists. His upbringing has him a non-believer in love, hence the intended marriage to Claire, as a business decision. While Amelia is an adventurous person and a bit of a daredevil, I didn't find her to be a truly memorable female character. I guess I also tend to like Alpha males, and Chad didn't strike me as that. I would recommend this book as a fun, lighthearted read, and most certainly a bargain @ .99 price.

Charmed the pants off me. Someone needs to sit on me before I float away on a cloud of sappy giddiness. I’ve read quite a few books with the “marriage of convenience” trope, but none of them left the impression this one did. I laughed until the tears came. Fast-paced, well-written, witty dialogue and comical situations made this a wonderful read. Chad and Amelia had been best friends since childhood. Personal tragedies bonded them but also made them grow up as adults so opposite, it was a wonder their friendship had never suffered. But the impulsive act of Amelia kidnapping Chad on his wedding day could change their relationship forever. For the better or for the worse? Amelia always lived life to the fullest–taking risks and flying by the seat of her pants. Her job as a freelance photographer kept her on the move, just the way she liked it. She called it being independent and enjoying freedom. Her friends and family, however, called it running. Chad had watched his father both drink himself to death and die of a broken heart when Chad’s mother had left them for another man. With a little manipulation from Chad’s grandfather, the responsibility to save the family business rested on his shoulders. Chad didn’t believe in love and fought the idea tooth and nail. The glimpses of their entire history through anecdotes and memories painted a very solid picture of who their characters were. I understood their fears and why they were so reluctant to cross a line that could change their friendship. Despite there being nothing racier than steamy kisses and sexual innuendos, I enjoyed everything else about them too much to be bothered about not seeing them give in to their desires.
