Finding Pride (Jill Sanders) Book Reviews

OkDecent read to pass the time. Jumps into things a little fast without any explanation or build-up. A TON of mistakes, which was cause for only 3 stars. The main character is Megan and her friend is Lacey, but most of the time the author has said Lacey when she means Megan. So Far So GoodI'm halfway through the book and so far it's ok. A bit slow and there are quite a few typos and repeated sentences. Ehhhhhhh...........It was very catchy to begin with. I wanted to learn more about the characters and their past and so on. The story itself held little promise. The pace at sometimes was too wordy and slow. I felt the character's confession of love for each other too rushed and empty. There was LITTLE TO NO DIALOGUE especially between the leads. Its hard to believe 2 people would fall in love if we can't read their talks. And even if there was dialogue, their characters fell flat. You wouldn't be able to understand the supposed "passion" between them. It was a pretty disappointing read. The story held promise, but the lack of dialogue, editing, and mention of the struggle to accept the brother's death (which would have been a good opportunity to evoke emotion) held this book back..Score: 2/5

It starts off so sad I have to admit that it got to me and had me crying at the beginning. I was drawn in and invited my own emotions in the the outcome of this little town in the people in it. It was just okLet me start off with what's good... The family of Todd, Lacey and Iian is really well written. One gets the family vibe and they are likable characters. Apparently though, the author often gets Lacey and the main character Megan confused and interchanges the names, writing Lacey when clearly it should have been Megan, making for a confusing read in spots. The fairly graphic sex goes on too a little too long and too often, and rather than sounding romantic it reminds one of hearing a drunk friend recount too much information that makes you want to cover your ears. I'm also confused that an abused woman who understandably is afraid to accept a marriage proposal allows the same man to move in with her on practically the same page. There are some spelling & grammar errors here and there that need tightening up too. Overall the writing came off as a bit juvenile and a tad boring.
