*NOW A NETFLIX FILM STARRING MILA KUNIS*

Fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train will thrill at this “perfect page-turner” (People)—that Reese Witherspoon describes as “one of those reads you just can’t put down!” This “dark, twisty” (Entertainment Weekly), instant New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling novel follows an unforgettable young woman striving to create the perfect life—until a violent incident from her past threatens to unravel everything and expose her most shocking secret.

HER PERFECT LIFE IS A PERFECT LIE

As a teenager at the prestigious Bradley School, Ani FaNelli endured a shocking, public humiliation that left her desperate to reinvent herself. Now, with a glamorous job, expensive wardrobe, and handsome blue blood fiancé, she’s this close to living the perfect life she’s worked so hard to achieve.

But Ani has a secret.

There’s something else buried in her past that still haunts her, something private and painful that threatens to bubble to the surface and destroy everything.

With a singular voice and twists you won’t see coming, Luckiest Girl Alive explores the unbearable pressure that so many women feel to “have it all” and introduces a heroine whose sharp edges and cutthroat ambition have been protecting a scandalous truth, and a heart that's bigger than it first appears.

The question remains: will breaking her silence destroy all that she has worked for—or, will it at long last, set Ani free?

Weak Writing. Nothing close to a Gone Girl a poor imitation. I was disappointed and bored by the end. Terrible transitions throughout the story make it hard to read.

This is no Gone Girl. Don't be fooled by comparisons to Gone Girl, this book doesn't even come close. It wasn't a terrible book, but I did feel like there was a lot of build up that only led to a disappointing ending. Not sure if I would recommend it.

Eh. A solid just okay. Started off great and interesting. I love reading time-hop fiction and this one did fairly well with that. The story went flat immediately after the big climax; the main character grew annoying. The rest was uneventful and predictable. The ending was a disappointment.

Should come with trigger warnings. Great read. Definitely better than the movie. I could see how it could be easily triggering, however.

Not my favorite. It was ok, some chapters were boring

Luckiest Girl Alive. So tired of books with unsympathetic, agendized characters. Formulaic, herd-like mentality. Couldn’t even make past a quarter of the book. Not original.

Publishers Weekly review gives the Plot twist away!. Careful when reading the Publisher Weekly Review. I’m so glad that I read this book before reading the review on this site that gives the plot twist away!! This site may want to remove the “documentary” part out of the review. On a happier note, really enjoyed the book. Love how it hit many genres through the book. Didn’t see the twist coming.

Meh. Hated the narrative and characters but wanted to see what the big secret event was so I googled the ending. Couldn't finish reading it.

Badly Advertised. Do NOT listen to the description comparing this to Gone Girl and Girl on the Train.. there are so similarities. I kept reading expecting there to be a shocking twist or even just a plain ole plot twist.. it never came. This is NOT a thriller or a mystery novel. It’s about a girl trying to deal with her past.

Good Read. I loved the complexity of her viewpoint and inner thoughts. Didn’t want to put it down. Spot on.

Excellent details. This was a very well-written book. You can feel the conflict of Ani. You can see how she is struggling with her 14-year old self, and the woman she is today. I really enjoyed reading this book, but the ending was slightly anticlimactic for me. For as detailed as everything else in the book was, the ending fell a little flat - like being dropped off a cliff. I would highly consider reading more from this author. I enjoyed her style!

Luckiest Girl Alive. Excellent book! Complex and intriguing multiple story lines that are cleverly tied together. Creative author who paints the story as vividly as Stephen King with just the right mix of humor and sarcasm. Well done.

Ending sucked. Started great and all of sudden I felt the story was over halfway through. Def not gone girl

3.5 outta 5. The beginning was a little hard to follow and didn’t get me hooked at first. But about 1/3 of the way through I couldn’t put it down. Had a wonderful ending and good message for woman to be true to themselves and find someone that loves them for who they truly are.

Not original. A book that received a wonderful review from a famous author and left me not loving the plot and even having a harder time liking the main character. I tried.

Slow start, great climax. This book was pretty good overall. However, my attention was not grasp until I was 5 chapters in.

So intense and well written I couldn’t put it down. I saw the Netflix movie first but couldn’t stop thinking about the story line. I’m so glad I picked up this book. So intense and beautiful. The details helping me to better understand the story that’s stuck with me all this time.

Eh. Though this book had an okay storyline, I felt the author rambled on quite a bit and confused you by jumping through too many past references all at once. I lost interest towards the end. I also felt that the main character was not as like-able as I would of hoped.

An enjoyable frivolous tale. I personally found this to be a great book with lots of twists and turns. It is certainly no war and peace, but it kept me entertained throughout which is why I read.

Interesting - But NO Gone Girl. While it held my attention, I think it did so in hopes for an exciting twist or new development. The ending left too many open questions and many of the characters didn't really have a purpose to the story.

Amazing read.. An amazing book. Real and raw, I couldn't put it down. Filled with darkness with touches of whim and humor, it tickled my senses. Highly recommended.

Thrilling. Cannot wait for the Netflix movie

Unlikable protagonist. Setting: New York It was a quick read. Kept my interest. Wanted to know more. None of the characters were likable. Especially the protagonist Ani. She was a psychopath. She had lived through the most unimaginable experiences as a teenager yet I almost never felt sorry for her. Yet she didn’t deserve all that had happened. I feel like that was the authors point in making her such an unlikable character. Good read. But the ending kind of left you hanging.

Good reading, but missing the grand The End. The story is great, so much potential on what is to come next, however there is no wow factor at the end, like the idea went to a different direction. Overall entertaining reading.

What. Could not put it down. That doesn't happen often enough.

Real and Raw. I stumbled upon this movie not expecting that watching it would be the one thing that’s ever brought me comfort from my own experiences from my teenage years. I bought this book about 3 minutes after finishing the movie and couldn’t put it down. It’s not a fun plot line, dramatic page-turning mystery novel, or an inspiring coming of age story. While the exact contents and characters are fiction, it’s a book that all the Ani’s of the world find truth and some bit of comfort in, knowing that they aren’t alone. The details of the healing process the main character goes through are painfully accurate. Some parts aren’t easy to read, but it’s a raw and uncensored representation of life. I can see why this book might not be for everyone, but I’m certainly glad to have come across it.

Great book!. This was a very good book and a fast read. It was suspenseful and a story told well. I would recommend this book.

Amazing book!. I saw that Netflix made a movie of this and this podcast always raves about this book so I decided to finally read it. I did not look into what it was about at all so that was quite a surprise! What a story!

Too slow :(. I couldn’t get into it…although I tried

Don't waste your time. Never had I wished for the main character to get hit by a bus I until I read this. A stupid, annoying, white trash girl puts herself in a dangerous situation, causes death and distraction, snags a rich guy and then gives it all up to return to her white trash life. Don't waste your time or money.

Great book. Lots of fun. Juicy, secrets, bad girl, etc. worth it

Needs a better ending. Great read but the ending had me oblivious....

Excellent.. Knowing the author wrote this from truth in her life made it even more intense.

Confusef. This book wasn’t at all what I thought it would be about based on the synopsis and first few pages. As a thriller, it was a bit of a let down, and the plot was played out by the middle of the novel. It was kind of a one-trick pony read. I stuck it out all the way to the disappointingly predictable ending and I am still confused about the rave reviews. Can’t relate.

So good!. This book was so good! I saw the trailer for the movie coming out on Netflix and wanted to read the book before. It keeps you on the edge of the seat, has the right amount of mystery to keep you interested.

Loved it. Loved this book, very entertaining and interesting characters. However, the book could've used some tighter editing, certain parts could've been left out to make the story really top notch. Almost excellently written, just needed a little bit more expertise.

Got me through an 18-hour flight .... However, had I not been stuck on a long flight, I might have given up.

Okay.. I did not enjoy the ending of this book. Very predictable.

First novel. So good!!! Quick read. My first novel. Won't be my last. Love her writing style. At times I could smell the room as she described in such great detail!!!!

Fantastic!!!. Best I’ve read in a while!

Really enojyed this!. I really enjoyed this book. Very intense story, indepth characters. Good and surprising ending.

Ok. It was ok. Without giving away any spoilers, I found the resolution to be disappointing.

Great book!. Can't wait until she writes another one.

Luckiest Girl Alive. Engaging and interesting.

Slow burn. Just give it a smidgen of time before you throw in that literary town. You’ll be glad that you kept plugging along!!!

Pretty good, but hard to follow at times. It was a good story, but can be hard to tell when going from past to present sometimes.

stunning. I was totally enthralled the entire time I was reading this book. Please allow yourself the same pleasure.

Micjmc. Only read a portion of book and that was more than enough. Very crudely written, not sure we were ever going to get to the point of the book. Waste of money as far as I am concerned. I have experienced reading many different authors and this is the first time I ever dumped a book without finishing it.

Great Read!. I am not a big reader and I couldn't put it down! Read it in two days!

More like BORDest Girl Alive.... I bought this e-book, and got 16% of the way through it. I’m bailing now. Author takes a long time to get nowhere.. Her style of writing is just not for me. Seemed very juvenile, and was not engaging.. I was determined to finish it because I paid $13 for it, but I just cant take it anymore.

Luckiest Girl Alive. Great story! Highly recommended!

Creepy, creepy, creepy. Quite the page-turner. A fascinating glimpse into the sociopathic brain.

Couldn't put it down..... Knoll has a way of bringing the reader in to the story to the point that I could hear the school lockers slamming shut and smell the cafeteria food. Her intense storyline and tightly credible characters felt truly real to me...I still don't know if I can ever look at mint chip ice cream ever again. "Luckiest girl alive" is a story that will bind you to that comfortable chair in your home, right to the last chapter. I am betting every person that reads this amazing story has a bit of "Ani" in them. A fantastic read!

Great. A great read! A bit slow in the beginning but well worth it!

Did not live up to the hype. I kept waiting for a unexpected twist, for a great ending, and I did not get it, predictable book.

A well-crafted, shocking story. Definitely worth buying!. Jessica Knoll has written a well-crafted, shocking story. The main plot is certainly creative and intense, and the author captured my attention with both her character development and the feeling of authenticity her writing conveys. All in all, a very good read, and one which may appeal to a wide audience. Definitely worth buying, in my opinion. A mild criticism: Although some of the conclusive sections might be seen as a little predicable, well, isn't life a bit like that, too? In that sense such aspects of the story seem to make it even more realistic and plausible, rather than less. Yes, I might have appreciated a final twist, but then again that would have likely been just too contrived. In retrospect, (and now that I have thought about it a bit more) the way in which this book's plot progresses and peaks is just right. A minor caution: However, please be aware that some of the themes and descriptions may upset more sensitive readers, but then again, such a strong plot line probably demanded this type of approach. The other minor caution: you will want to keep reading and reading until you finish! Seriously, this is a real page-turner! I barely slept last night...and when I did, it wasn't well. I felt compelled to keep going, to find out what happened next. I was that emotionally invested. Good work, Ms.Knoll!
