Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan Book Summary

Newbery Honor Book

New York Times Bestseller

This impassioned, uplifting, and virtuosic tour de force from a treasured storyteller follows three children, in three different times and places, whose lives mysteriously intersect.

Lost and alone in a forbidden forest, Otto meets three mysterious sisters and suddenly finds himself entwined in a puzzling quest involving a prophecy, a promise, and a harmonica.

Decades later, Friedrich in Germany, Mike in Pennsylvania, and Ivy in California each, in turn, become interwoven when the very same harmonica lands in their lives. All the children face daunting challenges: rescuing a father, protecting a brother, holding a family together. And ultimately, pulled by the invisible thread of destiny, their suspenseful solo stories converge in an orchestral crescendo.

Richly imagined and masterfully crafted, Echo pushes the boundaries of genre, form, and storytelling innovation to create a wholly original novel that will resound in your heart long after the last note has been struck.

Not good but not bad. •Spoiler warning• The book is amazing it was well written and was very creative in someways however THEY CLEARY DIDNT KNOW HOW TO END THIS BOOK it's annoying that we get so drawn into the story and BOOM new person new story that has nothing to do with the other stories till the very end, also the fairytale part of it is basically just a stop and plot device just to say why a M is on it on a harmonica, and it's the only thing that connects the few characters in the book together, and they barely resolve the The questions left on remained at the end of the chapters parts and it really stucks. Also at one point we that Ivy's brother was going to die, Frankie and his brother where running away and when a different character was getting taken to some prison or something they just say this: Ivy's brother really just lost too fingers; Frankie and his brother's stepmom really did want to adopt him; and and and the last segment they don't even speak about that dumb prison thing Idk. THEY JUST CUT IT ONCE THE PART GET SUPER INTERESTING!!! Well I'm done with my little rant thank you for who listened. Baiiiii

Have not read it yet. Is the book good or bad. The comments are both good and bad. What is the story about and why is it good or bad?

Longest Book I’ve Ever Read. ECHO is a good book, but I did have somewhat some trouble reading it in time for my book report, but if you are bored of the short books then pick up Echo. Echo inquires of which when Otto starts in the forest and gets a bump and meets Eins, Zwei, and Drei, including a harmonica. The harmonica somewhat has an M on it, which questions the others. The lovely music of a harmonica travels throughout three children: Friedrich, Ivy, and Frankie. They all meet which hearing such the harmonica’s beautiful sound makes them all get interested. I figured this book from my fourth grade friend Giana DeVito, who said it was hard, but I braved up the challenge to read it. I almost hadn’t finished Echo in time, but the book is a page-turner. The book is hard for me, but I loved it anyway with musical instruments and all — so magical and soft.

Love echo. This book is amazing I love it so much! I love how there is 4 perspective and it's so good it's worth the money

Don't buy! Waste of time! Terrible writer!. It is obvious that Ryan had no idea how to end this book. It has 3 different sub stories, and a main story going, and each one is just put to a halt right at a critical moment for the characters. Then at the very she end she does a time jump so she doesn't have to explain how the characters got out of it. And the fairy tale part means absolutely nothing. Just bait to get the reader hooked. I'm so mad that I wasted my life on this. Even Twilight was better than this.

I guess you could call it good. I mean half i enjoyed at parts but half I dreaded so read it if you want

Echo. Honestly it's one of the best books I've ever read. It's both mysterious, plot twisting, emotional, joyful and beautiful. It's an impossible book to put down and you must read till the end to love this book.

Don't buy. This book is extremely depressing I had to go and buy a new book halfway through to cheer me up

Amazing recommend for everyone!. Read till the ending or you won't get the amazingness it truly is.
