Crashing the Net by Jami Davenport Book Summary

This book includes the bonus novella Crashing the Boards.

Jealous boyfriends and glitzy parties can be a recipe for disaster. When the gorgeous yet controlling Cooper interrupts a party Izzy was paid to crash and almost ruins her career as a professional party crasher, Izzy kicks him to the curb. She learned early in life not to count on anyone, and she will not relinquish her independence, not even to a sexy-as-sin pro athlete who can melt her heart with one wink.

As the Sockeyes hockey team opens their inaugural season in Seattle, Cooper finds himself minus a girlfriend and plus a surly teenaged nephew. Cooper doesn’t want to be a surrogate dad, he doesn’t want to play in Seattle, and he doesn’t want to be alone. He misses Izzy, but seeing her with other men at parties turns him every shade of green. Regardless, he wants her back, and he’s willing to change, if only she’ll give him a second chance. Aware of her precarious finances, Cooper makes an offer she can’t refuse by hiring her to be responsible for his nephew when he’s traveling with the team.

Fearing Cooper isn’t capable of changing his control-freak ways, Izzy resists his efforts to turn their financial arrangement into a personal relationship. He needs a sweet, docile girlfriend, and Izzy cannot be that woman. Yet, when tragedy strikes, Izzy is there when Cooper needs her the most, and love has a way of getting what it wants, no matter the circumstances.

Confused. The summary was so confusing! The book was even harder to understand! Boo.. thumbs down

Ice melting!!. This review is from reading an advanced copy from the author. Jami Davenport scores with the latest release in the Seattle Sockeyes series. Izzy and Coop sizzle enough to melt the ice as well as your heart. Riley's storyline had me crying and glad for happy endings. I can't wait to see if he eventually gets his own story!

Crashing the Net. Loved the book read it in one day just couldn't put it down.

Lost some of the heat from Crashing the Boards. Izzy Maxwell and Cooper Black met in Crashing the Boards, and sparks were instantly flying. But now Cooper's jealousy is getting in the way of everything Izzy has tried to build for herself and her sisters, and Izzy decides to go back to the way that's always worked for her — rely on herself, focus on her business, provide for her family, and forget about hot men whose possessive tendencies threaten to make her dependent on anyone else. But Cooper's not ready to let go just yet… But... Don't let my three-star rating fool you. The book is lots of fun and just as well written as the first two. I'm just not a big fan anymore of lovers forcing themselves apart because of issues in their past, and Izzy's pretty much the poster child for that trope. I suspect that many romance fanatics will absolutely love it. Judging Covers: I see Crystal Gayle circa 1970 and John Corbett from his Northern Exposure days. Probably not the best image to have in my head when trying to get into a new romance. The Verdict: Izzy and Cooper are over. Done. No more. Except… Well, do you really think they can stay away from each other? Izzy's definitely got issues, and they've become the bricks in a great big wall she puts between herself and potential relationships. Essentially abandoned by her one-hit wonder parents back in the day, she and her sisters discovered that crashing parties was the way to keep themselves fed, and they've turned that little discovery into a bona fide business venture. Now grown, they stick together, professional party crashers invited by hosts to liven up events and make sure the guests have fun. It may not be the most conventional career, but it pays the bills. Cooper's got issues of his own, and going caveman every time another man is near Izzy isn't the half of it. For one, he's dead set against remaining in Seattle, a city that tainted his past and left him estranged from his sister. And when the nephew he didn't know he had shows up at his door, he's willing to help the kid out, but he knows he's not cut out to play parent to a sullen teenager. Izzy and Cooper's story is one of avoidance and denial, as they're both allowing events of the past to close off possibilities of a future. Izzy has no trouble being involved with a man, but she fiercely guards her independence and is in many ways unwilling to compromise. Cooper, on the other hand, has no problem turning his heart over to Izzy, but she's pushed him so far away that he knows better than to push back. So when he gets the opportunity to help her out, understanding her more in the process, he works it into a way back into her life. While I certainly enjoyed their continued story, it wasn't quite what I was hoping for after Crashing the Boards. In the previous book, these two were fighting a sizzling attraction to each other, each one of them stubborn about giving in, though neither could really help doing so. In this continuation of their journey, the heat is still there, but they have begun to settle into something comfortable, and the added family drama has them less at odds with each other and more at odds with themselves. In any case, it's still a great read, and I'll definitely be continuing with the series. ***FicCentral received this book from Tasty Book Tours for free in exchange for an honest review.

a heartfelt emotional ride. Coop and Izzy's story continues in Crashing the Net. coop and Izzy both have emotional skeletons in their respective closets and are afraid of trusting the other. Throw in Riley and his emotional baggage and we have a heartfelt emotional ride as they all learn to be a family. Great characters and realistic descriptions of the emotions the characters go through during the different events in the book. I really enjoyed watching all of the characters grow and face their demons.

Loved it!. Two equally strong characters who have been scarred by their family are afraid to let go and love! Wonderful story full of twists and turns.

This book had really good reviews but…. This book had really good reviews but for me it did not flow very smoothly. I also felt the character depth was lacking for the main characters.

Enjoyable. This book held my interest as have all of Julie Davenport’s books I’ve read. They never disappoint.

So good!. Can't wait to start on the next book!

Crashing the net. One of the great authors, one who has a way to hold your interest and have you turning page after page. I can’t wait to finish this series and continue on to the next exciting/romantic book and new series.

Crashing. Excellent book! I could not put it down!

Crashing the net. Fantastic book. I have never cried reading a book before and I am 81. The school shooting chapter was so real it was impossible to remember it was fiction.
