The real nightmare starts when her daughter is returned…

A girl is missing. Five years old, taken from outside her school. She has vanished, traceless.

The police are at a loss; her parents are beyond grief. Their daughter is lost forever, perhaps dead, perhaps enslaved.

But the biggest mystery is yet to come: one week after she was abducted, their daughter is returned.

She has no memory of where she has been. And this, for her mother, is just the beginning of the nightmare.

Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, C. L. Taylor and Lucy Foley

After Anna. Wonderful read. I finished this book in two days time. I simply couldn't stop reading. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Predictable. I have enjoyed all the other books by this author but this one was hard to even finish. Would not recommend sadly.

After Anna. A real thriller!! I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book!!

Twisted. Anna is the five-year-old daughter of Julia and Brian. She comes up missing after school one day and one week after Julia tells Brian she wants a divorce. After a week, they think their prayers have been answered when Anna shows up, apparently unharmed physically and mentally. What they don't realize is that their lives are going to go down an even darker road than they could have ever imagined and they will never be the same because of it.

A good, quick read. Lots of action. The storyline was interesting, but if you're a fan of the mystery/thriller genre then the "bad guy" is quite obvious early on. A good, quick read that doesn't require a lot of the reader in terms of remembering hints, clues, characters, etc. Even though the ending was predictable, it was still a page turner.

Predictable. And the mother-in-law and husband were a little over the top and not believable.

Couldn't put down!. Really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing, and I wanted to finish it as soon as possible.

Highly predictable. Grabbed my attention but was difficult to stay engaged. Highly predictable. I figured out who kidnapped her almost immediately.

After Anna. Has a twist at the end, a little unexpected but also kinda saw it coming. The rest of the book leading up to it really drug out and I was kinda bored.

Not too bad. The book itself was pretty interesting, and had my attention from yesterday afternoon when I started reading it till close to midnight when I finished it. I struggled to like the main character though. Julia was whiny, never content, and a pain to read about. I was actually rooting for Brian by the middle, and was disappointed in how it ended. It was somewhat predictable, but didn't stop me from wanting to see how it ended.

Great!!!. Wow, what a great book! I could not put it down, haven't read a book til 3:30 in the morning for years. A must read if you love suspense and wonderful characters.

Inexpensive - a clue. Predictable plot, flat characters, trite ending.

After Anna. WOW,,,, great book, full of intrigue, mystery, and murder... Could not put it down...

Disappointing. “...as she turned into the main road, she passed a man, his springer spaniel wet with sweat yet still straining at the lead.” So, dogs don't sweat. It's why they pant. Common knowledge. There are so many additional errors that it was distracting. This felt like a draft rather than a finished product. Needs better editing! Minimal character development. Decent plot, but it would take the right editors to get this into shape.

Anna. Really good book in short you get in brief child is abducted but even when that is resolved the book takes another twist really good read

Just ok. Very predictable. The story didn’t build for me so I found myself skim reading until the interesting bits.

Such a good read!. Loved it! Didn’t expect the ending

Really good. Had this in my TBR book list for a while now and it was amazing I'm from Altrincham so I'm only down the road from the places Alex Lake writes about. I'd worked it out half way through but still it was a very good read. I'm on killing Kate now I think I've worked it out also but who knows. If u like Mary Kubica the good girl you'll enjoy this writer aswell. I look forward to more from this writer!

Boring. The plot is so slow!

Quite predictable. I thought that the book was going to have a big twist but it was as expected. Still a good book

Ok. Although I was stuck to this book at the start it has parts which drag on a little bit, I actually skipped through the middle part as it was a little predictable, and my predictions were right. Which put me off a bit and skipped a lot of the end too

Fab!. Really enjoyed this book! Didnt see that twist coming at all. Kept me gripped all the way through!

Great book. Could not put it down

.... Is this book really on top charts? Im surprised. I would not recommend. Its not that thrilling.

Good read. Another good read from Alex Lake Enjoyed the book even though it got a bit predictable towards the end but plenty of twists and turns and worth reading

Very disappointed. The boom was good and kept me engaged throughout but I was very disappointed with the ending as it felt like the story ended mid way through. It was like it was missing a chapter if not an actual ending and didn't explain what happened in the story. Very frustrating

Gave up. The story was really good at first and had me addicted but after a certain point it became very dragged out, boring and the ending was predictable. I couldn't be bothered to read the last few chapters.

After Anna. A very captivating read from beginning to end with an enlightening twist

Snooze fest. One of the most boring books I’ve read in a long time!

Great read!. Thoroughly enjoyed this book which had a good storyline, was evenly paced and had some interesting, flawed characters. Very good read! Great ending too!

Didn’t finish. Got bored and didn’t finish it

Intense. Well written but very very intense for any of those who have children or nephews and niches they love. Be warned.

After Anna. Loved it. Couldn’t put it down.

Predictable..... ...and I rarely predict them! Halfway through, however, it seemed so inevitable that I had to skim read from that point on. Shame.

Good read but guessed it.. Reading a book, I usually enjoy the ride. But not when in the middle of the journey, I already guessed who did it. Would make an excellent thriller movie though.

Chilling. This novel keeps you on the edge of your seat. From page 1 you are hooked & don't want to put it down. I really hope there is a sequel to this story. I seriously didn't want it to end & was a little disappointed that it did. Definitely the best thriller I have EVER read.

After Anna. Should be a part two book... Riveting but would like it to continue... Couldn't put it down ..

Yawn.. Boring and predictable. Don’t bother.

A must read!. I couldn't put it down! Loved it!

Amazing thrilling book. Amazing thrilling book, such an epic page turner. Narrated so well, could not put it down

After Anna. It's been a long time since I read a book that hooked me so well that I couldn't put it down.very believable characters and plot with a nightmare complication! felt the main characters anguish on every page. Why aren't there more books by this writer? There should be. Highly recommend the story from beginning to end.

Review contains NO spoilers. I enjoyed this book and despite being busy, made time to read it in a few days. Despite knowing that Anna returns, as the blurb overly tells us, I found the book to be quite enthralling, although it does get a tad slow in the middle, before picking back up again near the end, where you find out who did it (which I had guessed earlier on, but didn't mind, it happens when you read a lot of thrillers; you have to be right sometimes), which left me trying to power read it with anticipation of what was going to happen! The last few sentences of the book felt a bit abrupt to me, like it might be leading to a second one, but as far as I can find, there is no talk of it in the pipe works, so to say. There are a few points in the book where I felt that I didn't particularly like the characters, but over all, it was a good read that I would recommend, especially as already said, to fans of Gone Girl and similar books.

Meh. Was very predictable

Great read. Awesome

After Anna. A fantastic read! Highly recommend:)

OMG..... Loved this book. Couldn't put it down...read it in 24 hours. Totally did not expect the ending..I thought it was someone else right up to when we found out who it was. Would love a sequel to it. And a movie.

I stayed awake to continue reading... Great book!. This is the kind of book you I literally could not put down... Towards the middle it does get a little tedious but the author must have realised this and got on with it.

A page-turner!. I can see a sequel coming from this. I liked its pace and pauses. An interesting twist in who the killer was. It was hard to visualize the hideout settings.

Good, fast read. This is not the type of book I would ever read. Not really sure why I bought it in the first place. I'm really glad that I did! The story caught me very quickly and the quick pace kept me reading! I loved the authors way of characterizing the people in the story. You really get to know them and care about them deeply; something I don't usually find in shorter books. Definitely worth the read no matter what your usual type of book may be.
