And so it ends. Great sagas, characters we know well by now, few surprises, but still a great read.

Couldn’t put the book down. This book seems to be a fitting end to the series (if it is) as once again Uhtred, Son of Uhtred pulls victory from seeming defeat for his king. The book is very well written and deeply engaging as are all in the series. Once I turned the first page I knew that once again I would not be able to put it down for anything other than the most pressing responsibilities. Read the book. Better yet read the entire series. My only regret is that the story of Uhtred may have come to an end and I will miss Uhtred, Finan, and everyone else I have come to enjoy knowing.

More Utred please!. Please don’t let this be the end. The last kingdom series was great and the books are as well. Give us more Bebbanburg!

A Tradition Lost. At the turning of each year, it was my quiet gift to myself -- Uhtred, the history, the heroics and the writing gift of BC. Today, after the last page and the fitting end, I told my wife that I had lost yet something else in 2020 and read her the last paragraph. She never knew the journey and pleasure of the thousand pages that led to it and perhaps didn't understand why I read it aloud. So I did not tell her that with slight editing to reflect a belief that the nailed God triumphed, it would be a fine epitaph for any man's life. Awesome story. Excellent! Loved it!

Favorite Book series of all time!. This is possibly the greatest historical fiction series of all time. This series is just amazing, and Bernard Cornwell concluded the epic tale of Uhtred of Bebbanburg with a flourish. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great series to get into.

Five stars. Typical Cornwall. Awesome storytelling blending historical fact with fiction. The reader becomes a character, a fly on the wall. No matter the genres, the syntax and plot ease the reader’s sense of immersion in the story.

His Final Bow. Uhtred’s story concludes with a flourish in one of the best entries of the series. The mayhem takes a back seat to intrigue as Uhtred and Finan match wits with three kings to protect Bebbanburgh and emerge triumphant at the historically climactic Battle of Brunanburh. Along the way, Uhtred looks back on his warrior past with pride and regret, and seeks reconciliation with his Christian son. Dedicated to Alexander Dreymon.

Wow!. A wonderful book. I hate to see the series end.
