--The Wanderer, A Literary Journal (regarding Rise of the Dragons)

The #1 Bestselling series!

A REALM OF SHADOWS is book #5 in Morgan Rice’s bestselling epic fantasy series KINGS AND SORCERERS (which begins with RISE OF THE DRAGONS)!

In A REALM OF SHADOWS, Kyra finds herself in the midst of a burning capital, attacked by a host of dragons, clinging for life. With her beloved homeland destroyed, The Flames down and the trolls pouring in, Kyra must urgently quest to Marda to retrieve the magic weapon before it is too late—even if it takes her into the very heart of darkness.

Duncan finds himself trapped, with the others, in the burning capital, and he uses all his wits to find his men, attempt escape, and rally his forces to regroup and attack Pandesia. Across the kingdom, Merk sails with King Tarnis’ daughter through the Bay of Death as they abandon the Tower of Kos and sail for the warrior isle of Knossos. Pursued by Vesuvius and his army of trolls, crossing the world’s most treacherous waters, they know they have little chance to reach the isle, and even less chance of escape.

Dierdre and Marco survive the tidal wave that destroyed Ur only to find their beloved city under water. With everyone they knew and loved lost and dead, they must pick up the pieces and journey to the one person they know who is left alive: Kyra. Alec, meanwhile sails back for Escalon with the people of The Lost Isles, holding the precious sword that might just change everything. But none expect to encounter a land destroyed, a land that is now teeming with dragons.

With its strong atmosphere and complex characters, A REALM OF SHADOWS is a sweeping saga of knights and warriors, of kings and lords, of honor and valor, of magic, destiny, monsters and dragons. It is a story of love and broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is fantasy at its finest, inviting us into a world that will live with us forever, one that will appeal to all ages and genders.

Book #6 in KINGS AND SORCERERS will be published soon.

“If you thought that there was no reason left for living after the end of the Sorcerer’s Ring series, you were wrong. Morgan Rice has come up with what promises to be another brilliant series, immersing us in a fantasy of trolls and dragons, of valor, honor, courage, magic and faith in your destiny. Morgan has managed again to produce a strong set of characters that make us cheer for them on every page.…Recommended for the permanent library of all readers that love a well-written fantasy.”

Good story. Enjoying the story itself, but the syntax, word choice, and timeline errors really detract from the readability. These issues have grown steadily worse with each book. Kyle was captured but then he wasn't, one of the primary antagonists is repeatedly in multiple locations at the same time, like the capital city Andros, and the tower of kos on the devils finger. I'm going to keep reading, I'm invested in the story itself, but the timeline errors alone are annoying, I can be forgiving on the translation errors, but please keep your story straight.

Inconsistent. Many times I’ve had problems keeping my line of thought parallel to the books and I’m finally realizing why. The inconsistency is astonishing. In the ending of the last book, Vesuvius captures Kyle, yet in the beginning of this book Kyle is on the battlefield and survives by using a shield and bodies of others? The consistency is horrible.

Realms. In the first book of the series it said trolls are scared of water that is how the flames keep them on their own land in marda. Now in this book it has them jumping on a ship chasing merk after they extinguished the flames. If they are willing to sail now and brave the seas why didnt they just sail around the flames in the first place?

Could be better. In the last book the Troll’s Leader was at the main city battle and captured the person who put the main character on her “horse” and sent her to her mother but in this one he is not at the battle but at a completely different battle. The MC tries to excuse her many failures try to save her father as a test when her father didn’t need her and her being there didn’t serve any purpose. Still better than the last book so hopefully the next will go back to being good like the first few.

Editing. Some of this book is derivative, all of it needs to be edited. Mr. Rice, please use a thesaurus. Someone's heart slams or is slamming every chapter.

Story as a whole and characters are good but needs more!. Story changes in a few places. Kyle captured in one book but wakes up on battlefield in the next. The description of every single characters feelings is the same. All of them pushing beyond their past for the honor of death. All of them embrace death in at least two or three chapters. The story has great potential but like others have stated it badly needs editing. There doesn't need to be a crazy adventure and struggle NOT to die at the end of every chapter. After just now noticing Kyle not capture due to mistake in writing I almost lost all interest in finishing.

You need an editor!!!. There are so many mistakes in this book it’s ridiculous! Wrong names used, incorrect English, and wrong people in wrong place. It’s great to have a good imagination but if you can’t express it correctly, it’s very annoying. I thought this would be a”quick and easy read” but I spent most of the time stumbling over mistakes and writing errors. I definitely would not recommend this series to anyone…There’s still time, fix it!!!!

Wait..... Maybe I read it wrong, but it seems she literally changed part of the story in this book. Maybe I'm mistaken, but in the last book, Kyle was captured....now he isn't captured....in one of the book Kyra threw both halves of her staff and they impaled in the eyes of a squid and she fell over a waterfall. Her next chapter, she had her staff....I just don't know. I don't even know why I have faith that the next book will be better. Morgan you're better than this. Stop disappointing your fans.

Serious Logistics Errors. I was able to over look the staff error in book 4. I explained it in my review of book 4 so wont elaborate here. I am really really finding it very difficult to accept the magically increasing number of trolls chasing Merk. As he was traveling down the Devil's finger peninsula it started as a few hundred of Vesuvius's best warriors, increasing to several thousand by the time they reached the end. As Merk and the King's daughter took 1 of the 12-15 SMALL boats available, ALL several thousand trolls loaded onto the small boats.. By the time they reach the isle of Knossos the number of boats and trolls has grown into an never ending army of trolls.. Then there is the dragons.. that dont let anybe escape the citys but the heros are instantly free clear and safe from the dragons once they leave the capital city.. The horrible logistics are really making me not want to get the last book.. no matter how good the overall story line is.

Kings and Sorcerers. This is a very entertaining story of valor and never giving up, even facing overwhelming odds. Filled along to the conclusion!

Anybody left out there?. The problem with the world building here is that there is no support structure behind the invaders of the land. On one side we have the trolls, which alt least can munch on the victims. Question is what did the live on before they came south. The southern army is normal people, but what are they living on, now that the land and cities have been decimated? For a army of one million, a support staff 10:1 is needed, and its just not there. Besides that, both generals have a nasty habit of pushing their troops off cliffs and generally using them as shark bait. They are not used well, and their lives are wasted. Who would support that? Our hero’s continue to have cliff hangers every chapter. It’s getting old..

I fell for it AGAIN!. These books have no substance. No depth. Nothing. Just characters running from one crisis to another. Never spending more than one chapter at a time on any given character or happening. So sorry I bought this book and hope I can control myself when the next one comes out instead of giving in to the hope you would actually care about your characters AND readers. You are better than this drivel M Rice. You should be ashamed of what you have done to what could have been a great book.

Wasted Potential. First few books were good but now it seems like Rice ran out of energy to make it worth reading. Very inconsistent (Kyle is captured in the last book then in this book is in the battlefield never captured). These are simple errors that proofreading takes care of. Also, every single chapter ends in the character thinking “it’s a sure death.” Yeah, I won’t believe that if it happens every few paragraphs with them always never dying. Very repetitive as if Rice is rushing to get it done and undertook more than he expected.

Amazing book. I love how in the book and all the books in the series, it refers to death as a character. And I think one of the best parts of this book is how Escalon is taken over by two armies, and even though that happened the people of Escalon still stay strong, the people/characters in this book have so much personality. It’s like the book is alive. In a good way.

Not great. The author obviously never read or had the book edited. The story line has significant issues and inconsistencies.... On the bright side. Doesn't take long to read.

Great I love it. Keep it up love the book wish they were longer though

Continuity issues. All these books are written very amateurish, and from book to book ignoring specific events at the end of the previous book and including one battle that the trolls retreated from were still there later while also elsewhere at the same time, very disappointed otherwise a good read but ultimately has left me disappointed with this series, like you can’t just have one thing happen and then completely ignore that it happened and rewrite it later on in the series

Realm of Shadows. Loved every minute, great read
