Deceiving the Duke of Kerrington by Ginny Hartman Book Summary

Hope Hillburn was born to a life of servitude and never once questioned her role in society. As a lady's maid to Noelle Parrish, she had everything she wanted out of life; a secure and honorable post, a decent room to call her own, and ample time to write fantastical tales of winsome creatures while her mistress, Lady Noelle, attended the various society events offered by the ton.

Lady Noelle Parrish knew that her father was anxious to see her wed but she never imagined he'd go behind her back and arrange for her to marry against her will, to a duke with a questionable reputation no less. Disheartened by the prospect of marrying a man she's never met and the possibility of foregoing a lifetime of love, Noelle makes the impulsive decision to flee England with an American gentleman she's only just met.

There's only one problem...

Lady Noelle's father, the Earl of Brattondale, would never permit her to marry an untitled American, nor was he willing to go back on his word to the duke. In her desperation, Lady Noelle convinces Hope to take her place after noticing an uncanny resemblance between them both.

Against her own better judgment, Hope agrees to take Noelle's place when she realizes there's no other way for Noelle to flee to America without causing her family disgrace. Thrown into a life she has only ever viewed from the outside, Hope must convince everyone that she is a lady lest her farce be discovered. She is confident that she can handle society's strict rules of propriety but she soon learns that guarding her heart from falling in love with an incredibly handsome, self assured duke with a penchant for snarling isn't going to be quite as easy.

Really enjoyable reading. I loved the characters in this book and for the most part after the two main characters meet, its fast paced and never boring. However I felt a little let down. I felt the author could of expanded more in certain areas of hope and pierces relationship. A lot of missed opportunities to add more depth and romance to the story. For example, Pierce admitted to playing the pink fore but never attempted to surprise her with it. Hope wrote stories but we never got to see her really share any with him. Also pierce finds out her mom died, but when he sees her next, no mention of it and doesnā€™t seem to be any stress about her mom from her character. Also I wish after they (spoiler alert) find out that she is noelles and devens sister, I wanted so badly to see the families reaction and acceptance of her. Again this was a really enjoyable read, I just wanted more in regards to their relationships

A Page Turner!. I couldnā€™t put the book down and enjoyed every minute of it. The story had a touch of fairy tale/magic to it (it reminded me of Cinderella in some ways). Great read and the seriesā€™s looks promising.

Sweet regency romance!. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! It was the first Iā€™ve read from this author and Iā€™m a fan already. The story was far-fetchedā€”but then, thatā€™s the beauty of fiction, right? The characters were endearing and the chemistry between them was sizzling despite being a clean romance. The ending came together somewhat abruptly, but still answered all the right questionsā€”I would have liked more, but for a shorter book, it wasnā€™t hurried.

Deceiving The Duke of Kerrington. I truly loved this story. Enjoyed reading from the first page to the last. What an awesome read of true love and the story behind the birth of Hope. I just couldnā€™t put it down! Wow very impressed. Congratulations!!

Fantastic and funny. I had a good time trying to figure out who tricked who. This story was so entertaining and interesting that I couldnā€™t put it down. It all works out for the best with a happy ending for all. Great read!

Creative. Creatively done. I love this kind of writing, fast-paced and exciting. It tugs and warms my heart.

A fantastic read. Very nicely written, keeping the best surprises for the end. A feel good novel.

A fairly decent storyline, BUT. . .. This novel DESPERATELY needs professional editing. Desperately. Run-on sentences abound, nearly to the point of distraction. And the absence of commas to set off direct address is positively rampant! The storyline is actually fairly decent, though definitely predictable. But dear lawd, PLEASE enlist the services of an editor!!

Deceiving the Duke of Kerrington. Despite some flaws with facts (geldings are not female horses!) and minor writing errors, this is a lovely story.

ā€œDeceiving the Dukeā€. Loved, loved, loved this book! What an escape it was to read about happily ever after šŸ˜Š. I mean we all have enough of the reality that this is usually not the case. I was transported and caught up in rooting for Hope. R.K.C.
