Cream of the Crop by Alice Clayton Book Summary

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton brings her trademark blend of funny and sexy to this second contemporary romance in the brand-new Hudson Valley series!

Manhattan’s It Girl, Natalie Grayson, has it all: she’s a hot exec at a leading advertising firm, known industry-wide for her challenging and edgy campaigns. She’s got a large circle of friends, a family that loves her dearly, and her dance card is always full with handsome eligible bachelors. What else could a modern gal-about-town wish for? The answer, of course, is...cheese.

Natalie’s favorite part of each week is spending Saturday morning at the Union Square Farmer’s Market, where she indulges her love of all things triple cream. Her favorite booth also indulges her love of all things handsome. Oscar Mendoza, owner of the Bailey Falls Creamery and purveyor of the finest artisanal cheeses the Hudson Valley has to offer, is tall, dark, mysterious, and a bit oblivious. Or so she thinks. But that doesn’t stop Natalie from fantasizing about the size of his, ahem, milk can.

Romance is churning, passion is burning, and something incredible is rising to the top. Could it be...love?

Creamy. Yum another witty fun book by Alice Clayton. I love her quirky characters full of flaws and insecurities that make them seem like they could be your best friend. Natalie full of confidence but also scarred from the past. Oscar on his path but still shadowed by a past that he didn't want but was finally out of. Bring them together in a charming town full of other fun and witty people and you just know that love is in the air. Great read!

City Meets Country. This book with its sexy farmers really tempts the reader to head to the nearest farm. Overall Cream of the Crop is a contemporary romance, but it does a good job of educating also. I had never thought about how cheese was actually made before reading it. Natalie is a total city girl. She has a professional job, wears expensive shoes, loves to dress up and makes flirting an art form. She has an in to all the most IT restaurants and night spots. Oscar sells his cheese at the farmer’s market every Saturday morning. He’s stoic and straightforward. Natalie and Oscar are easy to like on the surface as is, but learning their backgrounds is what truly made me love them. Natalie is a plus-size girl who rocks being sexy. She seems to have always had the perfect life, but knowing her past enforces how awesome she is now. Oscar has a story of his own. He’s had disappointments, but he’s made his way in life admirably. I enjoyed meeting these new characters and catching up with the wonderful cast from the first book. I’m looking forward to more from the Hudson Valley series

Another fab rom-com from Alice Clayton - 4.5 stars. If I’m in the mood for a lighthearted romance featuring wacky heroines and laugh out loud humor, I can always count on Alice Clayton. I have yet to read a book of hers that didn’t leave me smiling, and she really delivers the goods with Cream of the Crop. Natalie is a saucy, fun-loving, and successful New York City advertising exec. She also happens to be a full-figured fashionista who radiates confidence and has men eating out of the palm of her hand. Basically, she’s sexy and she knows it. Oscar is a hunky dairy farmer and artisanal cheese maker. Although Natalie is usually charismatic and daring, she gets absolutely tongue-tied and fan girlish whenever she sees him at her local farmers market. When Natalie’s work takes her to Oscar’s small hometown in Hudson Valley, New York, it’s her chance to charm the pants off him (literally) once and for all. Cream of the Crop is signature Alice Clayton all the way. She’s a master at mixing sugar and spice, and this story has more than a touch of steam. Oscar and Natalie really heat up the sheets. And doors. And trucks. And hay. And… well, you get the picture. Written strictly from Natalie’s point of view, the story includes her zany internal monologues and hilariously awkward/sexy encounters between the couple. I took off a half star because this is one of those instances where I liked the heroine more than the male main character. Oscar is definitely one sexy mo fo, but he can be a bit of an inconsiderate jerk to Natalie when push comes to shove. I adored Natalie. Her wackiness makes her all the more charming and perfect best friend material. Somehow she manages to be strong but vulnerable, put together but cheeky. Cream of the Crop is sure to please if you’re looking for a feel-good, witty, and sexy romance. This is the second book in the Hudson Valley series, but can be fully enjoyed as a standalone.

Great bday present. This book was released on my birthday and I could hardly wait after reading all of Alice's other books. I loved Natalie and Oscar's story. They both overcame heartbreaking pasts but they found each other. Alice's characters stay with you and you feel like you either know them or you want to know them. I love their humor and passion.

Funny. Love that she is a size 18!

Hilariously Awesome. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. Showing women of all sizes to love yourself and be you and not have to give up anything and find love with a hot guy awesome

Loved this!. I'm an admirer of all Alice Clayton's books and this one is "The Cream of the Crop" so to say. Loved the humor and the overall chemistry of both characters. Enjoyed all the characters from this series making an appearance in this book. You won't be disappointed!

Hot read! Fun read!. Alice Clayton is my favorite hot& funny author. I called in late to work to finish this one!!!

Funny!. Another funny and wonderful book by Alice Clayton.

Fabulous!. Bailey Falls, perfect spot to fall in love with a handsome, cheese-maker.

Not everyone’s HPE. I really didn’t like this story. The synopsis makes a big deal out of writing a truly plus-size heroine, but she comes off really trashy early on. Why do writers who want to empower women always write about a plus-size one that is flamboyant in their dress, mouth, and sex life? When Natalie walked over a picnic table to force her way next to her guy’s side, I was humiliated for her! Yeah, the guy was hot & built, but he had no personality & all the emotional awareness of an actual caveman. And this didn’t change at the end, SHE did (doesn’t that defeat the point?). Overall I just felt like there wasn’t much heart or depth to the story
