The Party. First time reading this author. I did not enjoy this book. Too much jumping around, before the party, after the party. Couldn’t like any of the characters or their behavior. The only character I felt sympathy for was the couples son.

Great Read!!. I loved this book. It kept me enthralled throughout. The ending totally surprised me, and I was left wondering what was coming next.

Predictable. I’ve given this book two stars because I found the whole thing long-winded and drawn out, only to result in a conclusion I could see coming a mile off. I guessed the entire outcome very early on the book so this was no ‘edge of your seat’ psychological thriller.

The Party. This book has you gripped from beginning to end. Well written ,going along with the central character to the conclusion. A different idea in a book. Couldn’t put it down.

Good but long…. I liked the story but I felt it was long, and a little unnecessary in parts. The writing was very repetitive when she describes feeling “slightly sick” and saying “my breath sticks in my throat” in response to nearly every scenario in the story!

Page Turner. I love that this book was a real Page turner. I have flown through it and found the characters and flaws highly relatable. I guessed early on who the attacker was but despite that, I couldn’t wait for the reveal which is always a sign of a great read. I shall definitely be reading books from this author again.

The Party. Have you ever been on a night out and had a bit of a memory lapse? I know I have. I’ve also acquired myself the odd unidentified drunken injuries, normally on my shins, knees, ankles and occasionally the elbow or forearm but nowhere near the extent Rachel suffered during the fateful New Years Eve party at her neighbours. The big question what did happen to Rachel? Rachel’s trying to repair her rocky relationship with husband Gareth and staying out all night was not the way to do it. But Rachel loves her husband, and she would do anything to try and save her marriage. Will they survive the events of The Party? I really liked the way the story jumped between before and after the fateful night. The chapters showed life leading up to the end of the year and the steps Rachel and Gareth took that started to fracture their relationship. In the weeks of the brand new sparkly year are not a fresh start, in fact it’s probably worst start to any year that faces Rachel. I doubted everyone Rachel spoke to. Every one of her neighbours had something to hide from that party. I did have a moment of “ooooo was it XXXX” (yup I’m not saying who, there are #nospoilers here) but it was brief and dismissed oh so quickly….. The writing was brilliant. I devoured the book in two sittings. I’m so glad I got to read it before anyone spoilt it for me unlike the author’s debut which is still unread. I may not read Ms Hall’s debut for some time but I’ll definitely be reading Tell Me No Lies.

Predictable. Okay story but so predictable

Boring!. It was a bit long winded - with not much excitement. I wouldn’t recommend.

Very good. Gripping, thrilling. Not scary. Enjoyed the ending
