Reads like the inquisition. This book had me hooked early on, but cooled down very quickly, a little bit of excitement here and there but overall it was boring. The final fight scene was ridiculously long and so uninteresting, I actually started skipping over parts of it. I’m a history buff and the story reminds me of the 12th century inquisition, sprinkled with a little bit of futuristic technology and wizardry.

Too verbose... So many words and so little action..

Really liked it but a bit short. This was an enjoyable read with some interesting concepts and characters, but it felt too short. Right when it felt like it was getting going it was over. That being said, I will be buying part two and can’t wait to see what happens!

Buy this one and pre-order the next one. The armored saint by Myke Cole is an incredibly told story. It is the first part of the trilogy and it is full of emotion, integrity and action. I don’t want to talk about the plot too much as I think that would give too much away in the story as straight forward and concise as this. . I enjoyed it immensely and recommend it highly to anyone

Wonderful writing and characters, but felt like half a book.. It is very rare that I get hooked this quickly in a fantasy book. The characters, the plot, the fight of good against evil, the unseen twists, all really well done. His explanation of love and the corruption of those who choose to label it really hit home.But, like others have said, it’s over just as you really get involved. It feels like one of those books that was split into chapters to have you buy the next. I didn’t realize I was only buying 1/3 of a story. If you’re publishing it in this format, don’t charge the price of a full book for a fraction of the story. Other than that, well worth your time.

Cynical marketing. Feels incomplete and way too short, like it's been cutoff at a cliffhanger for marketing reasons. Story felt like it was just starting to get going and was developing some potential, so it was really disappointing to find it cut off in such an abrupt and incomplete manner. Honestly thought I'd accidentally skipped multiple chapters. Having to pay another £8 - and wait months -to read what should have been a single book isn't acceptable as far as I'm concerned.

Good stuff from Cole. I’ve not read much Fantasy in years, but I’m glad I picked this up. Cole’s grim world is filled with memorable characters and some truly grim occurrences. Short, but left me wanting more: I’m eager to see the rest of the series.
