The Surrogate by Louise Jensen Book Summary

‘WOW I was blown away by this thriller… This book had me guessing right up to the very end. An exceptional book.’ Just One More Page, 5 stars

She can give you everything you want... But can you trust her?

Kat and her husband Nick have tried everything to become parents. All they want is a child to love but they are beginning to lose hope. Then a chance encounter with Kat’s childhood friend Lisa gives them one last chance.

Kat and Lisa were once as close as sisters. The secrets they share mean their trust is for life... Or is it?

Just when the couple’s dream seems within reach, Kat begins to suspect she’s being watched and Nick is telling her lies.

Are the cracks appearing in Kat’s perfect picture of the future all in her head, or should she be scared for the lives of herself and her family?

How far would you go, to protect everything you love?

From the no. 1 bestselling author of The Sister and The Gift, this is an unputdownable psychological thriller which asks how far we will go to create our perfect family. Fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl will be utterly hooked.

Brilliant!!. The Surrogate is an intense and cleverly crafted psychological crime thriller. This brilliant novel has so many surprising twists in it that I never saw the final one coming. And, what a twist it was! Kat desperately wanted to be a mother, but sadly, she couldn’t become pregnant. Her supportive husband, Nick, agreed with Kat, that adoption was probably the best way for them to proceed. But after two failed foreign adoptions, the couple was emotionally spent. Everything was looking hopeless, until Kat’s estranged best-friend, Lisa, showed up and offered to be a surrogate. Kat took her friend’s offer as a positive sign and readily agreed. Nick’s lawyer and friend, Richard, however, didn’t think it was a wise decision at all and strongly counseled the couple against it. But Kat was adamant, and so the surrogacy process began. Kat started to doubt her friend’s integrity, though, after Lisa consistently made excuses as to why Kat couldn’t accompany her to the doctor. Lisa was harboring a dark secret, but then again, so was Kat, and Nick, as well as their lawyer, Richard. What would happen when these dark, ugly secrets came to light? Nothing good, that’s for sure. The Surrogate is an engrossing and compelling novel. I read the book in one day because I couldn’t put it down. It’s intriguing, intense and completely captivating. Thank you, Bookouture and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy!

Waste of Time. This book was so boring don’t even bother!!

The Surrogate. This book is a hot mess! No organization to it - like it’s thrown together with no rhyme or reason. Author needs to get her thoughts in order.

Surprises and Curveballs. This was a twisted great thriller. I typically figure everything out but this one threw me a curveball. Totally recommend. It’s a 10!

It’s a good long read... The most of the book is good. Up until 3/4s it drags a little bit before picking up toward the end of the book. Pretty lengthy but it wasn’t terrible.

Kept me guessing. Had a few slow parts but it kept me guessing. Thought I had it figured out early on but I was wrong. An entertaining read!

Brilliant. Couldn't put it down , a very good read !

Fab Book, couldn’t put it down!. Really enjoyed reading! Lots of twists!

The Surrogate Louise Jensen. Having previously read The Gift on iBooks I was lucky enough to be given this book as a gift by a very dear friend, it didn't disappoint it's storyline is well thought out thoroughly researched and simply beautifully written by an amazing story teller who is for me a modern day Charlotte Bronte with a thrilling twist. I loved this book so much I have read it twice in a week. It's the book equivalent of a 5* Michelin Meal loved it

Gripped.... Loved it!. Fantastic read. Twists & turns, totally gripped

The Surrogate. Another masterpiece, a brilliant psychological thriller that keeps you guessing right to the end. Twists and turns a plenty, all you could want in a thriller, I have no hesitation in giving this book a maximum 5 stars.

The surrogate. This is the third book by this author I have read in 10 days absolutely brilliant writing .... always expect the unexpected, didn’t want to put the book down

The Surrogate. Excellent, well crafted story. Despite the historical shifts (or because of them) the book’s pace was fast. Which is something of an achievement when the story covers a whole pregnancy. Lots of lovely twists, loops and a couple of red herrings.

Uncomfortable, intriguing and brilliant!. Could not stop with this book - it left me guessing, deciding and then guessing again, I was still wrong! Superbly written as you almost feel like you don’t want to know, but you know you have to - will be reading her other books for sure.

Excellent. Really good read didn't want to put it down. So many twists and turns that are just unexpected

Addictive thriller. I read many books of this genre and at times they become a little predictable. This book was fantastic and I’d read it again tomorrow. The author truly captures the characters and brings them to life. A story that took more twists and turns as it went on making it a real page turner. I’m already started on another book by this author and would highly recommend this read if you like thrillers

Fantastic. Amazing twists in the story, this book kept me in shock with every page turn and I read it in 2 days! Could not put it down. Excellent read! Highly recommended! 5 Stars

Amazing.. A real page turner! I bought this book on a whim and I haven’t regretted my decision at all. I’ve just spent 3 hours finishing the book despite not going to bed until midnight and needing to be up at 6am because I was only 110 pages away from the end and I couldn’t stop myself reading. The characters are so well put together, the story is amazing and the plot twist are brilliant.
