Broken beauty. It’s taken me 2 days to get my head on straight after reading this story. Dark romance is my jam and Damian and Lina’s characters could not have been written more beautifully. You’ll either be sympathetic towards these characters or just simply inspired by their strength. Damian and Lina both fall victim to Lina’s step-father. But where Damian is hardened by his imprisonment, Lina is fearful of secrets that may be unveiled. My poor, poor Lina was subjected to such a horrible life. Nothing more vile than being tricked into a sham of a marriage with a sadistic husband that starves and imprisons you. Not only scared for life, Lina must endure the pain of another sadistic husband when she is forced to marry the only man she has ever shown compassion towards.

This book had me in my feelings!. I felt such hate and love while reading this. Our heroine is tragic by epic proportions. She hasn’t had a break like ever. I loved her will to fight and to stand all that was thrown at her. The hero I really HATED him and did through most of this book. He’s a REAL anti-hero and a sadist. I am a fan of this author. She can really weave a story. I’m glad it came my way. I didn’t know if this was going to be good. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I highly recommend this book.

Great reading, loved it!. I received the book as an ARC, like Previous books the writing was superb. The story get you involved all the time, the characters are well developed and at the end everyone in the story gets what they deserved: love, vengeance, redemption and forgiveness.

Stunning. OMG !!! This book blew me away with its darkness. I totally loved Lina and Damian’s story. Danger, death, secrets, lies, dark steamy moments, sexual control over ones desire, chemistry off the charts. I was totally captivated throughout the entire book and was held hostage , riveted to every single word of this stunning read. It truly feed my need for a dark romance as does all Charmaine Paul’s books. Once again she does not disappoint. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing dark romance read. Phenomenal!!!. This book blew me away! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. I loved both the hero and the heroine and the writing was phenomenal. This is a darker book but I would put it at a mid-level dark. The heroine has suffered horrible abuse but it's mostly past tense so you don't have to endure the actual acts in the book. In present time, she is mistreated by a side character but not to the extremes of her past. This is why I say it's mid-level dark. The hero is into BDSM and he does punish her by those methods. I never felt he was cruel to her but this is my perspective. He was always aware of her limits and took very good care of her. Damian is obsessed with Lina ever since he laid eyes on her at her fathers dinner party. That night is a catalyst to his downfall orchestrated by her father and he believes by the heroine, as well. He's a very dangerous man and that is due to what her father did to him. When he gets out of jail, his first action is to take the heroine in a forced marriage. For a man who believes the heroine betrayed him, he treated her with such care and protected her to extremes. Lina was such a strong heroine. I can't even imagine the horrors she dealt with and she was never truly broken. She is one of my favorite heroines and would love to see more like her. Damian is dark, edgy and extremely possessive of Lina. I am such a huge fan of this type of hero and he surpassed my expectations. Again, I want more heroes like Damian. I could list so many things that made me love this book but I also don't want to spoil anything for other readers. To me, this is a must read!

Another great read!. I received an ARC for a honest review. This is a darker romance than the other books I've read by this author and just as good. It starts off as a revenge story for the hero since he was sent to prison by then heroine's father. At first the heroine seemed so lost in the world and in her own mind. It was dark and suspenseful on that there are a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes. No one seems to be in control.....neither the H or the h. Over time Damien realizes the revenge is taking a backseat to his feelings for the Lina. And Lina slowly finds her footing in her life with Damien. In fact she becomes stronger in mind and body.......because in the beginning she was so fragile, it was almost too hard to read about her. The heat factor is off the charts for these 2, but remember this is a dark romance.

There is beauty in the broken.. I was broken by this book, but in the most beautiful way. Charmaine Pauls ripped my heart out of my chest, broke it many times, then finally put it back in my chest at the end. I was immediately captivated with this world at the beginning of the book and with Damian and Lina as characters, and it didn’t let me go until the end. Lina went through so much that it broke my heart, but the journey to who she is at the end was well deserved. Damian deserves to get his revenge for what was done to him, and the last six years have broken him as well. Damian is obsessed with Lina and would do anything for her which I appreciated, but some of the times he punished her were brutal to read. That is why I gave the book 4 stars - some of Damian’s punishments were hard and uncomfortable for me to read. He does redeem himself in the end! Damian and Lina’s love story is as broken and beautiful as I have ever read. If you want a book that transports you to another world with a story and characters that don’t let you go until you get to the end, then read this book!

Dark, emotional and emotional romance!. Beauty in the Broken by Charmaine Pauls was a darker romance that was emotional and full of twists. Damian Hart served six years in jail after being framed for a crime he did not commit. Those six years allowed him to plan his revenge. He holds one man and his daughter responsible. They will pay. He was a strong and determined man with one mission driving his every action. Angelina Dalton-Clarke broke my heart. She has suffered so much at the hands of others. Now she will suffer at Damien’s hand. Though at times she seemed a blt lost, she was also strong in her own way. But Damian also desired her. Wanted to own her in every way. Their chemistry was insane. Though he wanted to punish he took care of her as well. Their journey captivated me from the start. There was danger, lust and a whole lot of steaminess in this story!

Wow. If I could I would give this 10 stars! This author is in a class above all that I have read to date! She hits all the marks with mystery, sex, action,scandal and characters you won’t forget.

Fabulous. Honestly I’m not sure where to start?? This book was total fabulousness and I can’t say enough about it. You have Damien who was sent to prison by the dirty, of dirties type of man. Damien is out for revenge and he is going to get what he wants, and that is Lina the daughter of the man he is out to destroy. Lina is worth billions, but due to her instability her husband will have control of her money. So you see Damien forces Lina to marry him, he gets her and her money. I don’t think he realized he would fall in love with her. This is a dark story and at times Lina’s treatment by Damien and her past treatment by others is rather rough. I will tell you I couldn’t put this book down. It’s fast paced and fabulously constructed. Loved it!!

Five out of the park stars!. Charmaine Paul’s books are always a hit with me. I absolutely love her writing and her unique story teller ways. This was no different. From character development, plot, and dark romance, she delivered a compelling beautiful story that was a page turner.

Superb!!!!!. Holy mackerel this is one dark story. Damian is a complete jerk at times but one one hand you can understand why and then on the other hand you just want to knock him upside his head. Lina is a sweet young lady that boy do we see growing throughout the story. It is a gripping story that has you wishing you could stop reading but it is so intriguing that you can’t put it down. The characters are well developed and the writing is fantastic. It has a superb storyline that can feel so realistic to the end. It is definitely worth reading and doesn’t disappoint.

WOW. Definitely one of my favourite books! This book had me hooked from the first chapter. So many twists and turns, it kept me guessing and brought out so many emotions till the very end. Just when you think its over... theres more! This was a fantastic read!

Dark and Beautiful!. This was my first Charmaine Pauls's book, and won't be my last. OMG! This story is amazingly dark, and beautifully written! I love all about it! The characters, the angst, the mystery, the suspense, the action packed, and the beautiful ending. Damian and Lina are really great characters. Damian is brutal, dominant, possessive, protective, dark, but he is also so much more than that. Lina is a beautiful and extremely strong character. They share an instant love, and a sizzling chemistry. I love that the story is told with dual POV. The storyline is heartbreaking, breathaking, totally captivating, and filled with twists and turns. Now, I am looking forward for more books written by this author.

Beauty in the Broken is a richly layered story set in Diamond Country, South Africa and told in dual perspective, thereby allowing the reader to glimpse into the minds of two very guarded and damaged individuals. The name of the book says it all, poetic in its meaning, the deeply harrowing story leaves the reader wondering if the two main characters, Damian and Lina, ever stood a real chance of surviving the corrupt and exploitative diamond world? Damian is out of prison, and he wants to punish the parties involved in framing him for theft, resulting in his false imprisonment. He intends to punish everyone who aided in framing him, even those who were indirectly involved, specifically, the rich, entitled, privileged and beautiful daughter of wealthy Diamond Magnate Harold Dalton. Damian has a score to settle and he will take no prisoners. With a penchant for cruelty, Damian blackmails Lina’s father for her hand in marriage and for the rights as her legal guardian, thereby gaining full control over her late husband’s fortune. To read about two people who have this potential opportunity to find their mark in the world but to then instantly have it ripped from them in one heartless act, had me crying in despair for Lina and Damian. The author has such a brilliant way of immersing the reader into this gritty world where corruption and greed reign, all cleverly disguised by wealth, luxury, and refinement. This juxtaposition gives a false sense of security whereby one assumes characters will err on the side of caution by making honourable decisions based on their social standing. However being wealthy and refined by polite society’s standard is not synonymous with being good and kind. Both Lina and Damian are fooled by this notion of wealth and refinement equating to goodness, and it is their lived experiences that tell a different story when placing trust in the wrong hands. They have both been exploited and now exist as shells of their former selves. It is harrowing and painful to read and yet so beautiful to see two broken people try to find their way in life again and learn how to thrive once more. They are truly “beauty in the broken”. Damian will do anything to have it all, and Lina learns how to navigate her new life without being further destroyed. Their life together is sad, destructive and so beautiful. Damian and Lina’s “dance” is breathtaking, intense and at times sweet and touching. I was cheering for both of these characters to get their HEA!!!! The secondary characters were also masterfully written with purpose to really explore Lina and Damian’s characters! I loved every part of this story and was sad when I turned to the last page and saw that it was over. Everything about Beauty in the Broken is perfect! ❤️

Dark but brilliant!. Through the ringer! Beauty in the Broken is amazingly, beautifully heart-wrenching and emotionally turbulent. It appears to be a revenge story about a young man, Damian Hart, who seeks retribution from a diamond magnate, Harold Dalton, for stealing his prospecting find and sending him to jail. Damian returns after six years in prison to take back Dalton’s diamond mine and his beautiful daughter, Angelina, as well. The simple opening belies so much more hurt and loss and damage that is eventually revealed, that this reader was literally wrung out while reading it. Honestly, this was a challenging read. The shining light that carried me through all the painful ordeal was Lina herself. If you could see Lina’s karma it would be a glorious halo of light. She retains her honour, her compassion, and her capacity to love despite everything she has been subjected to. Damian and Lina’s love should have been pure and transcendent if not for the meddling of sociopathic crooks. That they can overcome everything that happened is proof of that. Charmaine Pauls has created another incredible love story. I don’t know how she does it without leaving a piece of her soul behind each time, but I am profoundly grateful to her for this gift!
