Publishable By Death by ACF Bookens Book Summary

Change is hard in a small Southern town, especially when it brings a side of murder.

All Harvey Beckett wants to do is help the residents of St. Marin's find the perfect book for that moment, snuggle with her hound dog Mayhem, and be ignored by her cat Aslan. But when the small, waterside town's newest resident discovers the body of the community's persnickety reporter in her bookshop storeroom just before her grand opening, Harvey can't help trying to solve the crime, even when it might cost her business and her life. The more questions Harvey asks, the more secrets she uncovers.

Will Harvey and her friends be able to solve the murder of the town reporter without her becoming a victim herself?

Some Unfortunate ā€œHistoryā€. I like that people came together... itā€™s nice when we recognize that God is not partial.

Books, Murder and Mayhem!. Loved this book! Book shop background - heaven! Intriguing murder mystery with diverse, intelligent and believable characters (likeable and otherwise), inhabiting a small Eastern Seaboard community - my first foray into this series.! Itā€™s great fun to feel totally immersed in all aspects of the story - almost like one of the community!

Publishable by death. Excellent Thriller Many very interesting characters as well as history and twists and turns A must read!

Interesting. I am glad that the book is fiction, because of the events in the book.

Great discovery. Iā€™ve only just discovered this author and this first in the series. Good story and great characters. I highly recommend. Iā€™ve already ordered the next one.

Good intentions that went wrong.. While I appreciated the friendships made by the characters in the book, I am still trying to figure out why the author felt the need to tell what their ethnicities were when introducing of them. Not sure it mattered who was white, black, or otherwise. Iā€™m pretty sure Iā€™ve never read a book were the author seemed to think it was necessary. As for the motive of the killer, I thought that was pretty lame.

Good story.. Great story, but next time maybe you could leave out the gratuitous and unnecessary references to race. There were several places where you referred to people by race where it was simply not germane to the story line. It makes you sound a bit racist when I donā€™t think you are.

Not believable. Plot is good, however the town is too good to be true. Most small towns/ neighborhoods view newcomers from so far away ( cross country) with suspicion, especially those from large, liberal cities. Too friendly, too kind, too welcoming. The struggles of opening a new business are too easily overcome, and the numbers of visitors to the store are quite exaggerated. Day Lili

I enjoyed this book immensely!!!. A quick & satisfying read for all of you cozy mystery fans out there, but not in any way superficial! The author deals fairly with the difficult subject of our nationā€™s deplorable racial history while remaining an enjoyable read!!

condescending. Another overly plump heroine who seems to be always thinking of food, eating, planning what to eat. if this at least a biracial author I will ignore the condescending. i like black people pandering. if not just show it in person and stop strutting the probably well intentioned white people talk. it is insulting. we are not in need of your "I will teach everybody to be equal and get along" blather. we are not children needing your praise.

Thoroughly enjoyable!. With several really likable characters, and a well-paced storyline, this book was a joy to read!

Among the best Iā€™ve read in 2022.. Not only is this a wonderful cozy mystery, but exhibits character development, and wonderful bits of factoid information that fit right into the progress of the novel.

Great read. Kept me interested. Characters are wonderful and appreciated the digs being mentioned throughout.

Love it. The author does a great job of introducing characters! Just enough detail for things to make sense but not bog down the story. I appreciate the references to other great reads too!

Saccharine sweet. The overall story was nice. However, the author goes into a deep dive of unnecessary detail (overly describing customers down to race, how to pick toppings off pizza, the sweetness of everyone's coffee, the many examples of books and what they're about, etc). I appreciate details, but also like to let my imagination fill in the gaps. The ending was tied up quickly. Most of the action was about the town fair and history of the town vs the murder. I'm not sure which genre I would place this book: not enough for murder mystery, too tame and generic for romance.

Punishable by Death. Fun concept. Held my attention. Enjoyable

Publishable by Death. Enjoyed this stand-alone story in the series.

Punishable by death. Good book and refreshing reading without all of the torrid details of a crime book. I love the Cozy mysteries. Good author and series. Grandma Fox

Mystery. Mystery and friendship mix nicely in this book.

Review. This was a nice book. It wasnā€™t too much focused on the mystery that happened though

Punishable by Death. Great read, also very informative. I read it in one day. I couldnā€™t put it down.

Publishable by death. Loved this cozy mystery! Especially enjoyed all the references to actual books I now want to read as well. I also must try the popcorn recipe. Thank you!

HUMOROUS. I found this one to be a clean, Cozy Murder Mystery thatā€™s easy reading but somewhat predictableā€¦ Itā€™s a good distraction from the crime thrillers that I typically read.

Publishable by Death. A story I had to read fro. Beginning to end, as quickly as possible. Heartwarming ,sad and powerful. Wow!

Publishable by Desth. Enjoyed the setting, characters, and plot. It was entertaining and interesting with the historical information and references to literature and art.

Publishable by Death. Light reading. As an avid reader I found this book impossibly unbelievable, naive, and Pollyanna ish.
