En esta última parte, Agustín de Hipona recurre a la historia bíblica para explicar la evolución entre la ciudad de Dios y la terrenal; y a continuación recapitula todo lo dicho en la obra antes acometer por último las finalidades de ambas ciudades: el juicio final, el infierno y el cielo.
