“Messily human and sincerely insightful.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
The highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, multiple award-winning novel Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is an “emotional roller coaster” (School Library Journal, starred review) sure to captivate fans of Adam Silvera and Mary H.K. Choi.
In Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, two boys in a border town fell in love. Now, they must discover what it means to stay in love and build a relationship in a world that seems to challenge their very existence.
Ari has spent all of high school burying who he really is, staying silent and invisible. He expected his senior year to be the same. But something in him cracked open when he fell in love with Dante, and he can’t go back. Suddenly he finds himself reaching out to new friends, standing up to bullies of all kinds, and making his voice heard. And, always, there is Dante, dreamy, witty Dante, who can get on Ari’s nerves and fill him with desire all at once.
The boys are determined to forge a path for themselves in a world that doesn’t understand them. But when Ari is faced with a shocking loss, he’ll have to fight like never before to create a life that is truthfully, joyfully his own.

Beautiful ❤️. I stumbled upon Ari and Dante during my sophomore year of Hugh school, about 8 years ago. I had heard many stories about the initial book and how much of a gem it was. However, for whatever reason, that year I didn’t come to finish the first book. I think the universe wasn’t ready for me to read through it just yet. Fast forward to Summer 2021, I finally gave myself the opportunity to read through the entire first book and let me tell you, I instantly fell in love. The richness and cathartic feelings that were felt when I read through it was and is indescribable. Naturally, I was ecstatic when I found out that Benjamin Alire Saenz was going to release a second part to Ari and Dante’s story, and let me tell you, he did not disappoint. The book made me laugh, made me cry, broke my heart and somehow mended my soul. It was just what I needed, and I definitely recommend this series to anyone that needs that to find comfort in the words of others. Ari and Dante have truly impacted my life and I’m so grateful to Mr. Saenz for writing such a wonderful and authentic story. ❤️
Epic.
Carried on for too long.. I found the constant (attempts at) philosophy during this book tiring and I found that all the emotions of this novel are overdrawn, overblown, with no real substance to back them up. It was sort of a hollow echo of the first novel, and though needed to complete the storyline, I was bored most of the time. It felt drawn out and honestly it was almost a disrespect to the carefully-painted characters of the first novel! It was a bit of a disappointment. I actually loved the philosophical look on young romance and emotions in the first book, I thought it felt really honest and interesting, but absolutely every concept brought up is repetitive and unnecessary. It altogether hindered character growth and stretched out an already-weak plot to the breaking point. Sorry if this is mean, I just didn’t enjoy it at all.
Wow. I don’t think the author knows a. How real people talk or b. How to differentiate between one person or the next with dialogue. All the characters have the same “way with words”… they all sound the same. They only way you know that one character is saying something is because the sentence starts with “so and so” said something. And Lordy, how many gay tropes from the 1980s can you fit into one book? Not all gays are tragic AIDS victims.
thank you aristotle and dante. this book, shows the pureness of young adults, and love in all forms. this book makes me want to become a different person. as somebody similar to the former ari, i think i’ve finally found some courage to become someone better, and to finally grow.
ari & dante. a beautiful next chapter for ari and dante. i love these books so much. i pray for a third, but we’ll see.
Another Provoking Read. The thing I enjoy most about Saenz work is the thoughtfulness of its characters. Neither Dante nor Aristotle are stereotypical. They each have their faults and quirks and can appreciate those traits in others too. There is a deep appreciation for the complexity of gay love, especially young and from an era that was only beginning to be accepting. The other female roles were refreshing as well. Strong Hispanic voices, either as mothers or friends.
Good book. I don’t know why I’ve seen so much hate for this book, it’s not the bad but it couldn’t beat out the first book. Everyone set their hopes too high and felt disappointed which I think was the problem.
