A Lesson in Passion by Jennifer Connors Book Summary

Ginny has a successful career, nice home and good friends. The only thing she's missing is love. Her past attempts at dating always seem to end badly, until a friend recommends some romance novels. Meant to be instructional, Ginny laughs off their usefulness.

Ian is a powerful Scottish laird, living in Medieval times. As the new leader of his clan, he is honor bound to make decisions that benefit his people. Tough, but fair, Ian has made a name for himself among the clans of the Highlands.

A freak accident leaves Ginny in a world within herself, the world of the romance novel heroine. Fighting off an evil band of Lowlanders, Ginny meets her hero, Ian, powerful laird of the clan McKenna. Ginny soon realizes she is in the body of an Englishwoman and is being forced to live with the McKenna clan.
Ginny assumes she must fall in love to move out of this world and back into her own. So before her hero can marry another, she schemes to win him back and hopefully reach her goals.

Horribly written. This book is about as well written as a "Dick and Jane" book. Couldn't get past 3rd chapter.

Unique Spin. Great book! I really loved the unique spin on typical romance novels. I couldn't put it down! Wish it had a different ending...I felt horrible for the husband and wondered what happened to the baby and Ian. Already bought the rest of the series for my upcoming vacation to the beach. I am hoping we find out about Ian and the baby or maybe I'll wake up on my vacation living with some yummy Scottish laird. Knowing my luck... I'll end up with the guy that takes care of the horses :)

Couldn't put it down. Good short story. I like the travel-in-time concept and the relationship with the highlander. The romance was well written. Didn't like the sudden ending of the story and how it changed era. It felt too abrupt. Overall great free story.

A Lesson in Passion. Oh my gosh this book was so awesome slow yes, but it was witty. What is so hilarious is the fact she just keeps moving and doesn't know when she will stop. I recommend this book to anyone hot guys and Irish men

Loved the books!. I originally downloaded the first book Lessons of Passion for free and got hooked. I couldn't wait to find out what happened to Ginny on her journey to get home. I ended up purchasing all of the series. I love the concept of time travel and the heroine is a modern day woman who has to somehow navigate herself through these romance novels.

A lesson in plagiarism?. I was moderately entertained. I am relieved to read that other readers also noticed the blatant similarities to Julie Garwood's amazing stories and characters.

Best. Omg this was a really good read I couldn't stop reading and when it finally finish I was so mad..now I'm gonna by the other books can't wait to hear the end of it.

Just ok. The book was good until it got to the end. Sorry but I don't like books that have no ending.

A lesson in Passions. I was not sure I would like this book but then I was drawn in and didn't want it to end!

Pretty Cool. This is a good book. I would have thought it was great if the story would have ended with Ginny and Ian. I was fine with that. I don't know necessarily, if would like to continue reading the series, since all it sounds like is that Ginny will be "jumping" from book to book. It was still pretty cool, though.

Outstanding. Outstanding

Awesomely wondrous. I loved it! I was beautiful, romantic, witty, and just an all around good read. I hope to eventually have the $ to buy the sequels!

Lesson in passion. Was not expecting much.. Slow start but pleasantly surprised. Now wondering what is next.

Good Read but ending felt sad in a way. I really enjoyed this book. Well written with excellent character development of not only the two main characters but the supporting ones as well. The author makes you care about the different perspectives presented. The ending (spoilers) left me feeling a bit sad and unfulfilled knowing that "life"and love was simply shed like an old glove. How does she simply move on in the second book of the series without feeling the loss of this man she comes to love in this first book?

Disappointed!. Wish the story would have concluded with this book. I understand that it is one in a series. But, come on ! Dragging it out with five or six more and still no end in site. Reads more like a soap, just not believable. Bring her back to present day and give her a wonderful romance to end the series.

A lesson in passion. Great story!

Awesome Book!!!!. This book was really good i thought. I also loved that Ginny sings 70's music a couple of times cause i love 70's music! Recomend to anyone who like historical romance!

Disappointing. Ginny is a modern woman who has no luck with men. Friend at work gives her romance novels. Ginny & her dearest friend are taking a week vacation in the Caribbean. It is a disaster. They are going home when they have an accident & Ginny wakes up in Scotland hundreds of years in the past. The book then becomes a romance novel & as I am wondering how she & her hunky laird will live in the current era, she faints. She wakes up in the 17 or 18 hundreds. She is unmarried. Then the book ends .

Great. Awesome

stupid. the book started out fine then took a strange weird turn. when it continued to be weird and disinteresting, i skipped ahead to see how long it would take to right itself, but it didn't appear to ever do that. i so lost interest and stopped reading it. thank God it was free, otherwise i would've been angry if i paid for this nonsense.

Lesson in passion. Very boring at the beginning ,gets interesting later

quick read. believable charecters and a wonderful plot.

A Lesson In Passion. Great beginning and story line. Then became just another period romance. But it kept you going with small stops and starts as the heroine forces her opinion on others in a time not her own. You excuse her saying she's just being "the romance novel heroine" exerting her strong personality against an intimidating man. However, when she interferes on a battle it feels inexcusable. Having her knowledge she should know you don't change the past. And is not even within the realm of possibility these people would allow her actions. I feel she is the one to learn the lesson. In the excerpt of the next book she doesn't seem to be sad or miss the man from the previous book. Showing no lesson was learned.

MUST READ!!!. I get some of you thought the ending sucked, but this book was AMAZING! I couldn't put it down. In fact, I'm pretty sure I set a record in reading it by finishing in an hour and a half! So it you want to read a book that keeps you on your toes, occasionally jump in the book and punch someone, and make you wish you could trade spots with the main character, THEN GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND READ THIS FREAKING AMAZING BOOK!!!!

Uggg. Fun for a while, but glad it was free.

Excellent story!. This book was great! I couldn't stop reading it. I'm planning to buy the next couple of series.

Great book!!!. Love it!!

Trippy. While I found the first part of the story interesting it wasn't as good as the middle. The transitions to each location need work. Ginny's observations of her world and her ponderings on the romance formula are hilarious. The author could've had more fun here. She started out strong, but ended up with a relative conservative heroine. Overall, the writing was enjoyable, if a bit simple and horribly unedited at times. The story was funny and a very good read.

Hilarious. I found this to be a funny book. The Heroine reminded me a lot of myself so I found her predicaments to be things that I would walk into. Could not stop reading. :)

Enjoyed!!. Thoroughly enjoyed, not knowing there were more adventures for Ginny. Sad to see her move on to lose Ian. Bought the next 4 to continue the saga.

Awesome!!. Loved this book SO much I bought the other books in this series. Love them ALL!! Great Job and so creative!

Lesson in passion. Was one of the best books I have read in a long time !

Good stuff. Very awesome. Everytime I read this book, it's like the first time reading.

Love?. I interesting but with 4 sequels it seems like some sort of porn book? She didn't love Ian but just wanted to sleep with him and I'm guessing that's what's going to happen in the other books - just having sex with all these guys until she "learns" her lesson and finally falls in love?? Yea... Not interested.

Decent. It was pretty good.. I was skeptical at first ... But I liked it

Love it!. This book was so good I bought the other three. I needed to see what happened to Ginny. Its like a good book that doesn't end, at least not anytime soon.

Ohhhh me Laird!!!. I got this one free and when I say what a fun treat, it was really a good story and I literally laughed my head off when she punched the one highlander in the balls... Riotously funny moment for me! Easy read but not short well worth my time very enjoyable! Thank u!

Great book until the ending.... Jennifer Conners handled the time travel theme well in this romance novel. There were often funny situations between the male lead, Ian and his time traveling female lead, a feisty modern American by the name of Ginny. This book reads like any romance, with obstacles and villains thrown in to make the two leads realize that they are meant for each other. What I do not like however is the abrupt ending. I realize that Conners is trying to do something different with the romance novel genre, but it just does not work. This book is the first in a series of 5 books, but it seems like the abrupt ending will not be tied up in the second book. Without giving away more, I have to say the ending spoiled the story for me.

A Lesson in Passion. Although the transition from lying on a beach in the Caribbean to being kidnapped in the hills of Scotland was a little lacking, I found this book to be an excellent Adventure/Romantic read. The characters are believable and the details are very catching of one's attention. I will definitely be buying more in the series!

Strange book. Not to crazy about this book. It's strange & the "Scottish" language is weird too. Would have rather Ginny find a present day man & encountered passion. Sending her to another time could have been cool I suppose but rather, it ended up strange. Sorry!! Concept was good I think - just didn't really pan out well. Keep writing though!! Out of the box thinking is great!!

Loved this series! :). I've read all categories of books and before long they tend to run together but this series is so different. Every book in this series is a different time period. I loved the change of pace and that it broke up the normal by throwing her into a different situation, and life story.

Love. I love this book I can't wait to read the next one

Passion. I read the synopsis, then started reading the book itself unsure if I would finish it. After a few chapters the author really pulls you into a bizzar world, but with a ironic, sarcastic point of view. At the end I didn't want it to end and nearly threw my reader. When I found out it was a series, I really got into the playful corniness, yet steamy romance of it all.

Enjoyable!. I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read book! Left me wanting more Ian not a transition. Great book! Read it all today!

Edit. The story line is nice, easy to follow, the characters come alive, but I noticed throughout the book that there were a lot of misspelled words or words missing, what happened to editing?

Lession of Passiom. Didnt like how the story ends.... Leaves you with that empty feeling and disgustment why it never explain and justify the start and end. Does not correlate at all... Thought i was liking it and crave for more but in the end, just ended up like a beginning of a story again?????

A lesson in passion. It seems someone has been stealing characters from Julie gar wood!

Completely enjoyable. Perfect light reading to pass the time on the morning commute!

Choppy story line. Can be much better

Lesson in the value of editors. I would like to say that once I got past the typos, the punctuation problems, the scrambled tenses, the POV leaps, the word misuse (laid is the past tense of lay not lie), the anachronistic language and attitudes of the period characters (a Scots laird worrying about his "rep"), and a bunch of other distractions, I found "Lessons" a good read. I didn't. The characters were shallow and at the mercy of the writer's whim. Men were medieval one moment and sensitive 90's guys the next. I could have taken it as a "romp" except that because it bleeds right into the next story without closure, it's apparent that our heroine is going to be a serial polygamist. I read it through mostly because I was interested in how the writer was going to wrap this up in the present day. She doesn't. So there is no ending, happy or otherwise. It desperately needs an editor!

Nice!. Good book. Love the modern take on traditional romance story. Wish it wasn't a part 1 of 3.

Lessons in passion. Don't download it is not a full version it finishes abruptly and goes into the authors next book. Wish it was all their.

Left me wanting more. Despite more than a couple of spelling issues (they really bug me!) I enjoyed this book a lot more than expected. Good characters and nice premise. The to and fro in time made me think of Barbara Erskine novels. I'm even tempted to buy the sequels and I normally stick to the free books!

I love it. I love all of her books so far. This one really got me hooked and I love how as soon as that story has finished and the character is happy, there is a whole new story line for her. It's one of a few series books I have been able to stay hooked to. I would definitely recommend this book, although some people have said that she is a strong woman and that the person who's body she is in, is not as strong a character as her that it doesn't flow well, but if you read later books you will see that it just depends of the situational, and can not just base it on one story. Looking forward to the 8th one.

Loved it. Lovely book, really got immersed in it but was so sad when it just ended that way! Is there more to this?

Truly captivating!!. A great read, was not expecting the twist in the story! Left me wanting more! Could not put my iphone down, truly captivating!

Brilliant. Captivating, I was left wanting more after every page

Sounds familiar?. I wonder if Diana Gabaldon has read these books... Then she'd be struck at the similarity between the synopsis above and her international best sellers featuring exactly the same premise. Writing bad fiction is one thing, copying another is worse. If this is the case you should be ashamed of yourself....

Ending. A truly beautiful story, utterly wonderful until the ending where the whole book turns to utter crap and not worth reading, if you are to read this book DO NOT read the last page otherwise you will hate the book forever. Other than that it was perfect (other than some grammatical errors)

Disappointing. The biggest pet peeve is the occasional random switch to the present tense. I'm also not sure how they managed to book a room in a resort when "the entire resort was booked by" someone else. And then the intro is over and everything becomes cringeworthy...

Great!. Captivating and a quick read....recommended

Wrong ending. Good story if you miss the ending out

A lesson in passion. Excellent book had me hooked. Would recommend.

Brilliant!. Although there are a few typos throughout, the idea behind this book and the rest of the series is one of the cleverest and most interesting that I've come across in a long time. The narrative is engaging and the heroine both easy to empathise with as well as having an intrinsic spark that most romance heroines lack. So far I have read pretty much one of these books a day and they are worth every penny, will just be sad when the series finishes.

Great fun!. A carefree romance novel with a twist from convention. It is the complete book despite the abrupt ending. And it's free! Wonderful!

Lame. Beginning and ending is lame. To travel back in time and space over some unknown meat dinner and then to jump into another time and era for book 2 is definitely lame. Middle part is good enough. A story plot with intention of slight supernatural bit nothing really supernatural to bring the events about. Even if it's just a comatosed dream from a bad accident, still lame to have dreams that are vivid and transpire over multiple eras and times. Not very well-thought out book to begin with. To continue with more books in series that are just gonna be Ginny in different era and place, but with knowledge of about future is what I won't consider as worth the money. And I do pay for books that are worth the costs. Not tempted enough to want to read subsequent books. In addition, also noted quite a lot of grammar/typo error. Get a proof-reader.

Amazing. I loved it and right now this book has increased my love for Scottish men haha it was a really good read and I enjoyed it hopefully the next one will be just as good

A right riveting read!!. Really enjoyed this book, couldn't put my iPhone down once I got into it. The ending is a bit of a let down but it does make you want to read the next one (which unfortunately isn't free) to see what happens to Ginny!

Just like Quantum Leap. It's ok but 'Ginny' is transported into other bodies sorts out their lives just like the Quantum Leap programme. However the only reason why these men fall for her is because they like strong woman which is what Ginny is, so when she leaves the body the story does not add up!! Much more cleverly written romance out there tbh!

A lesson in passion. Really enjoyed it. Quick easy read.

More please. Great book. Hooked from the start. Please write more.

Good read. Really enjoyed this story and didn't want it to end! The ending wasn't the best but has made me really want to purchase the next in the series

M. Really good

:). It's a great book, a big page turner. Amazing story line but wish the second one was free but I suppose she has to make her money somewhere.

Not bad. Nice easy read.

Brilliant. I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't put my i phone down, a real good book, will definitely be buying the next one that follows on from this book.

Brilliant. Had trouble putting it down it truly captures you and I then bought the second book. Hoping now she will write a third.

Shockingly awful, don't bother.. I gave up after 2 chapters because the grammar, structure, and storyline was so appallingly bad. I love a good chic lit, but there are much better ones out there. This author has no talent and needs to fire her editor.

Good read. An abrupt end and an unusual start didn't take away from enjoying the book-looking forward to the rest in the series...

Good read. Couldn't put it down lol. Cute and easy to read!

Awesome. I really loved it I couldn't put my iPhone down, I wasn't expecting to be captured by it's storyline but it hooked me. I loved the fact that she got transported to Scotland such s random place to go from America, it made me want to go there so much more, but was slightly surprised at no mention of the loch ness monster. After starting to read the next book I'm so looking forward to it.

Silly but fun. This book certainly has some weird elements but the central story of Ginny is fun.

A lesson in passion. Brilliant book, couldn't stop reading it! Loved it!

Can't complain. It's very good for a free book. The ending is quite abrupt but serves it's purpose as it leaves u wanting to follow the lead into the next book. But what happens to the characters left behind???

Left disappointed. Very well written, and I fell in love with the characters, but the ending was so disappointing. If you're looking for a true romance novel just take note that this doesn't have the typical "happily ever after" ending you might expect. So disappointed.

REAL FUNN. It was so fun to read.... Cute and funny characters., not too heavy storyline was great !!! Every line made me laugh n some cry. ... <3 <3 AWESOME READ

Loved it!. Couldn't put it down from the 1st page. Was disappointed this book ended and relieved to find more!!! I am definitely a Fan now, I loved the humor! Read this book!!!

All good. Story was fully of witty funny and lovable as everybody saying i felt sad on ending ..but i m looking for other series ..i love all the characters

Very moorish. The gritty characters and historical settings of this series left me wanting more. Anticipating book 4!

Great series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a little slow to start with but when it went back in time, it really improved. Can't wait for book 5.

Converted skeptic. Wow. I wasn't looking for a e book when I stumbled onto this series. I fell in love. The twist really made it stand out from other books. I love the heroine her characteristics really make the series. I couldn't book these books down. The story line was great I got totally immersed in the story. Wish there were more...

Lesson. Great book well written but a really bad ending. Just didn't fit the flow of the story.

I loved it. I was hooked on this book, it was absolutely amazing and well written. It really took me out of this work and into Ginnys, I literally went out and rented 10 medieval movies just so that I could get a better understanding of it all. I liked it alot. That's all I have to say.

Easy Reading. Quite enjoyable read. Easy to immerse yourself into the Ginny character, you admire her for her strength yet you feel for her insecurities set in a foreign place,.

An enjoyable series. I love the humorous twist in the lesson series. The stories are very engaging.

A lesson in passion. Really enjoyed more than I thought. Beginning was too much though.

It's a good book. This book was good but unless ur willing to pay for the rest of the series I recommend u not read this one either.

Great. Instead of the typical romance, it provides variety from the different time periods and the mysteriousness of Ginny's situation. Overall very good book. The only thing I would complain about is the lengthly intro into the actual excitement and the lack of descriptiveness & creativity when the lovemaking scenes arrive.

Fun read. I liked the concept of a modern day woman falling into a romance novel. The inner banter she had with herself was funny and it's a refreshing tongue in cheek approach to the romance novel.

Different approach to a Romance Novel. The author is a great writer, very slow start and very abrupt changes in the story leave u confused. Horrible ending there is no conclusion to the story u r left with too many questions. The story is a good read and definitely a different approach to a Romance Novel.

So good. Honestly, I've read alot of the books on iBooks and most tend to be so short and badly explained. Your usually thrown into a plot that you haven't been able to get a good grip on. This story however gives pretty good descriptions without over doing it. You in most ways can link with the characters, I found this story interesting and well presented.

A lesson in passion. Enjoyed this book immensely!
