The Snowman by Jo Nesbø & Don Bartlett Book Summary

INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER • Inspector Harry Hole tracks a Norwegian serial killer in this “fiendishly complex and terrifically entertaining” (The New York Times Book Review) installment of the New York Times bestselling series.

"Maddeningly addictive.” —Vanity Fair

One night, after the first snowfall of the year, a boy named Jonas wakes up and discovers that his mother has disappeared. Only one trace of her remains: a pink scarf, his Christmas gift to her, now worn by the snowman that inexplicably appeared in their yard earlier that day. Inspector Harry Hole suspects a link between the missing woman and a suspicious letter he’s received. The case deepens when a pattern emerges: over the past decade, eleven women have vanished—all on the day of the first snow. But this is a killer who makes his own rules ... and he’ll break his pattern just to keep the game interesting, as he draws Harry ever closer into his twisted web. With brilliantly realized characters and hair-raising suspense, international bestselling author Jo Nesbø presents his most chilling case yet—one that will test Harry Hole to the very limits of his sanity.

Snowman. Great book!!!

My favorite so far... This is the best harry hole novel so far, it is fast paced, still has the typical twists and turns, but it doesn't slow down like some of the previous ones have done. It was pretty clear where this was going to go in the end rather early on, but not who was going to be the bad guy doing it..

Thrilling!. Kept me on my toes I couldn’t stop reading! Loved the twists and turns.

The Snowman. Outstanding book! I loved the detective Harry Hole, and am now reading another book by this author. Harry seems to be a popular name (Dirty Harry, Harry Bosch) for detectives who have to fight with politically correct but incompetent bureaucratic establishment types. Loved Rakel and Oleg, and hope they will be part of Harry's life again! I'm looking forward to the release of this author's 2017 book and can't wait to read another Harry Hole thriller!

Well Developed.. The plot is engaging and entertaining. The thing that really impressed me was the way the author subtly introduced fine details into the plot that he would call back to 20 chapters and 250 pages later. The story was laid out in detail and all plot points were nicely resolved in the end. I recommend this book.

100 Words or Less. Can a single scene ruin an entire novel? Yeah, I think so. [No Spoilers] About midway through, a scene unfolds making me roll my eyes and groan as the latest victim turns out to be unlucky klutz. There goes my sympathy. There goes my awe of the genius evil killer. And I certainly lose my respect for the author’s plot. That’s a shame. I really wanted to like this book. In the end, however, that one bad scene made a handful of other questionable scenes that much more unbelievable.

Wow.. Go Norway GO!. Really impressed with this scandinavian invation. Jo nesbo is just as exciting as Stieg, if not more. Keep'em coming, and we'll keep reading.

Hole yourself away for a few days.... This is one of those books that you do not want to stop reading. The plot twist and turns and every time it seems resolved there is a new turn. I only wish more of the Harry Hole novels were translated into English.

title fine. Badly written, poor flow.

Hard to Put Down. Once I got started, I didn't want to put it down. I could have done without the "love" scenes but, thankfully, there aren't many of them. I skipped past. I'd definitely recommend it for mystery fans.

The best thriller. This is way better than The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series!

Really good!. Some of the sex scenes were really random, but the plot was fascinatingly developed, with just the right amount of confusion and twists to keep you turning the page! This is a must-have.

The Snowman. Superb!

The Snowman. Good thriller. I Am now a Harry Hole fan and will read others. As goodlylo as Larsen. Silverswan

Snowman. Brilliant! Intricate and relentless - his best yet.

GREAT READ!!!. It was a wonderful journey that held me captive throughout.

Great!. I was hooked from the beginning.

The snowman. What a pleasant surprise. Extremely well written and translated. Hard to put down. Well researched. Better than dragon tattoo books in terms of writing etc. Better than mankell mysteries and I've read them all. Enjoy!

The Snowman. Definitely Jo Nesbo's best--riveting, couldn't put it down.

Good Read. Interesting, a bit too long. I would possibly read more by this author. I don't agree that this was better then Dragon Tattoo Trilogy. That series had much more interesting characters, and I liked the fact they were a trilogy. G.

The Snowman. Could not put this down easily, great read! Fast paced and full of detail.

Great until snowman becomes too predictable. Worthy successor of Agatha until it becomes too predictable who Snowman is, after that the thrill is gone, and feels like words written to fill pages and explain Snowman's nature. Ending is too Hollywood like.

Amazing. Great plot twists and even better character development, can't wait to see Martin Scorsese's film adaptation. Buy this book.

Exceptional!. Great book, it will keep you turning the pages past your bed time...clever plot, interesting protagonist...very riveting!

Heart Pounding. All of Nesbo's books are a piece of mastery, but this is the pinnacle. Although , the identity of the Snowman was predictable, it was still a page turner till the very end with my heart in my throat.

The Snowman. While Harry Hole does get his man it is at the cost of a few innocent people along the way, and a few guilty ones as well - you get the sense that serial killers have a fighting chance of escape in sleepy Norway With Scandinavian murder mysteries in vogue at the moment, this one lacks the depth of others. There are some twists, but they are a little obvious and predictable, and fail to capture tension. It's a good read nit a great read, I wanted more character details and a more sophisticated resolution

The snowman. Exceptional read. Couldn't put it down.

A page turner. Couldn't put it down, but after a while the violence got to me. Not as well written as Steiger Larsen's trilogy, but so fast paced that the lack of artfulness isn't missed. That sounds odd, I know, but like in the best shoot 'em up movies, where the nonstop action masks the fact that the story is lame, the gore and pace cover the flaws here, too.

Loved it!. Can't wait to read another Harry Hole novel!
