Legion by Brandon Sanderson Book Summary
Now also available in the complete collection Legion: The Many Lives of Stephen Leeds.
A novella from #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, Legion is a fast-paced, witty, and supremely fun thriller with a psychological bent.
Stephen Leeds is perfectly sane. It’s his hallucinations who are mad.
A genius of unrivaled aptitude, Stephen can learn any new skill, vocation, or art in a matter of hours. However, to contain all of this, his mind creates hallucinatory people—Stephen calls them aspects—to hold and manifest the information. Wherever he goes, he is joined by a team of imaginary experts to give advice, interpretation, and explanation. He uses them to solve problems…for a price.
His brain is getting a little crowded, however, and the aspects have a tendency of taking on lives of their own. When a company hires him to recover stolen property—a camera that can allegedly take pictures of the past—Stephen finds himself in an adventure crossing oceans and fighting terrorists. What he discovers may upend the foundation of three major world religions—and, perhaps, give him a vital clue into the true nature of his aspects.

Loved it!. I hope he explores this concept further.
Legion Review. Great read. Smart, witty, fast enough to stay interesting and short enough to read in a couple hours. Would love to see more of these.
Great storyline!. I loved this short book. Please continue this character series!
Poorly written.. The choppy unimaginative dialogue killed this book for me. "I said." "She Said" " I replied." "He said." As a SciFi fan I was too bored with the pedantic use of language to get into much of the plot. The multiple persona aspect could have been more interesting if the narrator didn't automatically present it as something bizarre, a little discovery might have pulled me in but just laying it all out from the beginning left me uninterested. I'm glad other people seem to be enjoying this book but it just wasn't my idea of a good read.
Classic Sanderson. Engaging, fast paced and a hellava good read. Brandon Sanderson has firmly established himself as one of the best authors of our generation. With this standalone novella written on a flight back to the U.S. he shows us why that is. This is short and sweet - and a wonderful introduction to his writing style if you haven't read anything else. Like any good artist - this leaves you wanting more - so - much - more. This book explores time travel in a way I've never read before, throwing in a new type of hero/power with his main character Stephen Leeds. Enjoyable, and well worth the price.
Awesome, but short.. This is a fantastic quick read. It was imaginative without bring contrived.
Great!!. In agreement with everyone, these characters and their personalities are so fascinating and fun but the story goes very fast. I do wish I could read more about this character and his "illness" if we want to call it that. No regrets, I'd pay for that again or for something similar... it's well worth it.
Short but amazing. Brandon's brief story of mr. Leads is pretty much flawless. The only thing the book was lacking was more content, but that's to be expected in a novella. Read the entire story within a 2 hour plain ride and loved every moment of it. Hopefully Brandon will revisit these characters in the future.
Great but short.. I really enjoyed this book, especially in the way that it dealt with the aspects' personalities. The only complaint I have is that it's just so short and the ending felt very abrupt, when I wanted to read even more about these fascinating characters!
Wow!. Such a talented author truly challenging himself to tell a compelling story about a complex individual that comes off in typical Sanderson-style of simple and excellent!
Excellent and original. I found this short story/novella an excellent showcase of Mr Sanderson considerable writing talents. One would think that writing a book about a man who talked to multiple aspects would be confusing, but not so. It was clear, interesting and humorous.
Amazing. Amazing
Wow!. I dont think this guy is human. I've read each of his books and each time i'm left with nothing but awe at how a mnd can come up with this brilliant stuff!
Loads of fun. I can't believe how versatile this author is!
Legion. Brilliant as expected of Brandon Sanderson. I hope he makes a series out of the Stephen Leeds character.
So good. I have yet to read something by Brandon Sanderson that I don't love. This was a gripping and entertaining read. It fells like a Sherlock Holmes or Tin Tin story with a science fiction twist. Worth the three dollars.
A fantastic read. This is one of the best books I have read in quite a while. My only problem with it was that it was so short.
Brando Sando. Great Sanderson novella. The concepts of a time-capturing camera and the multiple “aspects” of Stephen Leeds kept me turning the pages. Recommend to Sanderson fans.
Just one complaint. Another home run for Sanderson, but 3$ for a story this short is a bit steep. Still, like most if not all of his stories this one is well thought out and intriguing. If you aren't reading his work you should be, he is one of the best fiction writers out there.

Loved it. I loved this book. I hope he goes back and does more on this character
Great read. A great read. I do hope that this turns into a series as the idea of the main character being a split personality is fascinating.
Agreed. I, too, hope this character sees the light of day again!
Original and thought provoking. This is undoubtedly the most original storyline that I've read in years. The author has created an extremely complex character with 'aspects' of his own brilliant mind brought to 'life.' Additionally, the idea and implications of a camera taking pictures of the past is very thought provoking with many pros and cons brought forward within the pages of this book. A very interesting read.
