Very moving. Beautifully written book about loss and how trauma affects memory. Incredible story.

So Brave. Well done. The pace and the details were just right. The lives fascinating. Every aspect of this experience was pretty clearly described, and not overly dramatized. It felt like this is the only way she could relay it. But I’m not entirely sure if she held back or I did in evoking my full emotions. Maybe both. She definitely has my utmost compassion and respect.

Wave. You are a brave, beautiful soul that your "three" boys would have wanted you to be! Move on now. If you can. You're boys would want you to find Peace & love again. You will NEVER forget them. Thank You for Your Dtory. I am so moved by your story. Halfway through I didn't know if I could finish but I am so glad I did. This is a testament to survival after tragedy. I am just now learning more about the 'wave' and am humbled to have read this story. Again, thank you and good luck to you in all that you do. Awful. I'm sorry for her losses, but I couldn't make myself finish this.

Inspiring and enlightening. A greater hug I could not give this woman. I truly felt all of her emotions and could not put her book down. I needed to know how someone could go on after such a tragedy. I hope she loves again because any receiver of that love she exudes would be one very happy being.

Wave. Terribly depressing. Couldn't finish it.

A journey, page by page, memory to recovered memory. Exquisitely written, describing the indescribable with heart breaking accuracy. Helped me appreciate the everyday smells, sounds, interactions with my children, often unappreciated in its tedium. Shines a fierce light on what matters and how our relationships are inextricable from our sense of self.

Last week, I explained to one of my fellow church members that we hear too much of the man made disasters of today and that we sometimes forget about the "Natural" disasters that have befallen our world, ie. the loss of some 250,000 souls lost to the 2004 Sonami. Sonali Deraniyagala, you have showed us the ultimate in loss and let us share in your grief process. Your writing ended with a reality that your role as a daughter, wife mother and friend brought you full circle to you continuing to live with you reaching out to your loved ones that you lost in a most natural way. This was centered around your most important role as wife and mother to two beautiful boys. Our past is part of our present and you will always be the friend, daughter, wife and mother thru your past life connections and your book shows that life will continue to be lived and experienced thru those heart connections. Wave review. The book is beautifully written, but so depressing I had to force myself to slog through.

Wave. Inspiring! I find it interesting to read how someone could survive and move on after experiencing the most unbelievable and tragic loss. It definitely puts life in perspective. Beautiful book and a wonderful tribute to her family.

Raw and moving. An incredibly sad life event and aftermath, described in such moving and raw detail. I won't even attempt to put myself in Sonali's shoes, but as a Lankan living overseas, with 2 young boys of a similar age, a love for Sri Lanka and it's beaches where I grew up, I was totally gripped by this book. In total admiration of her courage and resilience to live through her pain and share her experience in such a moving way! Profoundly sorry for her loss but enormously thankful the manner in which she has shared her story.
