Traduit pour la première fois par un jésuite en 1772 sous le titre «Les treize chapitres», qui l'a fait connaître en Europe, ce texte est vite devenu un texte fondateur de la stratégie militaire auprès des différentes cours et état-majors européens. Rarement, un livre ancien (écrit entre le 6ème et le 3e siécle avant Jésus-Christ) n'est resté aussi moderne, car cette philosophie de la guerre et de la politique fondée sur la ruse et le semblant, plus que sur la force brute, qu'il décrit, est toujours d'actualité. Et même, hors de la «chose militaire», Sun tzu reste une grande référence pour décrypter la stratégie d'entreprise et la politique. La formulation précise et imagée de Sun tzu ajoute à l'intérêt du texte, une touche de sagesse millénaire...
