Rome by Jay Crownover Book Summary

Sometimes the wrong choice can be just right . . .

Fun and fearless, Cora Lewis knows how to keep her tattooed "bad boy" friends at the Marked in line. But beneath all that flash and sass is a broken heart. Cora won't let herself get burned again. She's waiting to fall in love with the perfect man—a baggage-free, drama-free guy ready for commitment. Then she meets Rome Archer.

Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He's stubborn, rigid, and bossy. And he's returned from his final tour of duty more than a little broken. Rome's used to filling many roles: big brother, doting son, supersoldier—but none of those fit anymore. Now he's just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the dark demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer through it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes a blinding flash of color in a sea of gray. Perfect may not be in the cards, but perfectly imperfect could just last forever . . .

Awesome. As usual amazing !!!! I wish I was Cora. Rome is one amazing man!!!!! I hate that I have to wait til April for Nash's story 😭

Rome. As usual, Jay Crownover has written a great book! The third installment of The Marked Men series is as great as the first two! It also has a great lead in to the next book or two. Great Read!! Thx Jay!!

Rome. Great book!! All of the Marked Men books are great! Can't wait for Nash!!

Rome. Another good one. Rule is still by far my favorite. I love how these books overlap and tie in together, but can still be read as stand alone stories.

Love Rome. I thought I loved Rule, but I really loved Jet. Then I read Rome. There is no word to describe his character. Worship? Romantic? Amazing? Tortured yet more than lovable. Absolute must read!

Rome. Imperfectly PERFECT!

Probably one of the best ones of the series yet.... I was not the original person set to review this book but I am so glad I was able to. I had read Rule when Ms. Crownover was just a new indie writer. I knew after finishing she was going to be a hit. I truly enjoyed Rule and Shaw's story and all the characters she created. I did not get to read Jet but when I saw that Rome's book was coming out I knew I had to sign up. He stayed with me from Rule's book and I was excited to see where his story was set to go. Ms. Crownover did not disappoint :) Rome was sexy, sweet and going through a lot after returning home from war. I knew he was injured from Rule but his injuries have forced him to come home indefinitely. This is not easy from him at all. Not only did he bring home demons from the sandbox but he has bunch of crap he still dealing with since his brother, Remy, died. Relationships are strained with everyone in Rome's world including his relationship with himself. Struggling to find his new place in the world and his family, Rome is not always the greatest person to be around or the most sober. Cora was the fiery, no holds bare pixie from the Marked tattoo parlor. She loyal to a umpteenth degree and loves all her inner circle of friends fiercely. She is the glue that holds them together plus the conscience the crew needs but she is battling her own set of baggage after being cheated on by her ex-fiance and having a less than stellar relationship with her dad. She is looking for the "perfect" man and family because she refuses to allow herself to be hurt again in any way. Rome and Cora are the most unlikely pair ever. Not only in size and look but in attitude. They are the last two anyone ever expected to get together especially since all their first meetings ending up in some type of fight but when Rome needs someone to save him from himself, good things sometimes do come in small tattooed packages...haha. I absolutely loved Rome and Cora's story. I loved the honesty and realness of their relationship. Cora and Rome's relationship is far from easy and they are thrown a lot crap, some good and some bad but they make it through and somehow manage the find the light at the other side. They are the perfect imperfect couple. "Because I'm freaked out that whatever I say might be the wrong thing. And right now, being with you is the one thing that feels solid and real...You're so full of color, so vibrant you never get lost in all the grey in my head. I don't want to lose that." -Rome I loved that Cora held him accountable for his actions and made him not only see himself but the world for what it really was. I loved that Rome broke her twisted version of "perfect" and put her sideways in the best way possible. She needed it. Best part for me...was the twist in the middle because to me it is the BEST. TWIST. EVER...lol. I am a sucker for them and they always make every book great to me. Ms. Crownover....you made laugh, cry, swoon and definitely steamed up my Kindle a few times. Thank you...it was joy to read. The Epilogue will blow your mind and sets up Nash's book for you. So effin' excited for that I cannot express in words. A must read when it comes out on 1.7...you will not be disappointed.

Captivating Story. This is one of my favorite stories within the series. The connection between Rome and Cora is heart warming as they fight to stay together.

Rome. Rome was all gentleman, still have Rule's story as my favorite. Will go for Nash!!

Nothing like Rule, opposites. This was ok. Rome definitely does not live the same way Rule does. Rome dealt well with his PTSD, glad he sought help, glad another veteran helped him find his place in the world and kept him focused, and glad he found love and commitment. The story was missing passion, drama, and angst. It did not draw me in the same way Rule's story did. Still a fun read. Cora is so cute. It was nice to read a story about two people who may not pair up together from head to toe, yet they still made it work. Not too many stories address the height differences between a man and women. While most stories brag how they fit together perfectly, like they were made for each other, this one did not worry about that.

The Bookmark Blog for Rome. I have been so excited to dive into Rome. After reading the first two books in the series, (check out my review of Rule here and my review of Jet here.) I jumped for joy when this one showed up in my mail box. I have been so excited to read Rome’s story. I loved him and wanted to know more about him. I have to admit that Cora wasn’t my favorite of the girls, but I figured that I would grow to love her as much as I had loved the others. Guess what? I was right! See, Rome was even more complicated that the other two boys put together. He was the glue that held the Archer family together, and when the family started falling apart, so did he. He was in combat when his brother died and he didn’t take the news that his brother was gay very well. He was the big bad protector, and not being able to protect, well, he had a lot of trouble with that. And Cora, she was kind of an alpha too. So turning over her complete trust to another person, especially when someone had broken her hearts bad in the past was hard. But these two are so perfect for each other in the long run. Yep, I fell pretty hard for these two and I loved this book. Jay did it again and it was an amazing read. And according to Goodreads, we have three more to go, Nash, Rowdy, and Asa! I can’t wait!

The best one yet. Really enjoyed Rome's character. Enjoyed the story even more than Rule. Must read.

Best Ever. I loved Rome and Cora's story. I am very anxious for Nash's. Just thinking about Rowdy gets me very very excited. Great Job!

Advance read. I was Luckily enough to get a advance copy from the publisher, Rome & Cora story phenomenal by far best book in the series. Read in one sitting can not wait for Nash story!!!

Love this series!!!. I thought it might be odd for Rome and Cora to hook up but I love their story!!!

Rome. Loved it!!!

Another hit!. This author has done it again. She takes real world people and weaves a story where the characters have depth and the story has purpose. I laughed, giggled, got teary eyed and sighed. The gauntlet of emotions. I really can't say enough. This book and all of the Marked Men Series are worth your time and money. But.... Start with the first book. Rule

Jay has done it again! It's amazing!. One of the best books I have read in a while. It will make you laugh and make you cry. I loved Cora and Rome. They were made for each other.

New fave author.. Rome is one of my fave characters. Love the books.

Love. I love these books. I'm not a reader and read these books in 2 days

Rome. This is the 3rd book in the series and I can’t stop reading them. The best part is that they continue to pull in the characters from the previous novels and continue to develop their stories as well. Can’t wait to read the next one! Love how the author also provides a sound track at the end for each character! Well written and character development that has you falling in love with them all.

Rome. Please keep writing, love these characters....

Where is it?. Thank you to the author for making each person their own story. I see a trend where the author breaks up a book into 3-4 parts. It's only for $. Thanks again for not doing that. I can't wait for this book. The other two were great!!

Rome 😍. Cora and Rome could not have made a better pair! Great book! I love this series!

Love this series so much!. Can't wait till April to read the next one!!!

Best in the series. By far Rome had the best story out of the 3 books so far. I love Cora. She was his rock! It kept me well entertained.

Such a GrEaT read!. I loved Rule and Shaw, was okay with Jet and Ayden but SHUT THE FRONT DOOR---Rome and Cora are fantastic! Ms. Crownover you rocked this from the first chapter to the Epilogue! Anyone who wasn't satisfied with Jet MUST read Rome because it for certain is that good! Kudos!

Rome. Thought it was coming out today? I adore Cora! Cant wait to read it!!!
