The Housemaid Book Reviews
The Housemaid by Sarah A. Denzil Book Summary
The Howards don't know who I really am, but I'm learning all their secrets.
It seems like the perfect job. The wages are great, and accommodation is provided within the walls of an actual mansion. Not many little girls dream of becoming a maid, but this is an opportunity for me to get back on my feet. And to revisit my past...
But the strict housekeeper, Mrs Huxley, watches my every move, emerging from the shadows when I least expect her. And Lord Howard's son, Alex, takes an interest in me. I'm drawn to him because I know he's bad for me. There's a general atmosphere of unease at Highwood Hall, from the narrow tunnels laced throughout the sprawling house, to the abandoned north wing, rumoured to be haunted.
No one outside the hall knows where I work and yet a gift box arrives. One tug of the pretty ribbon unveils a miniature doll version of me trapped inside a dollhouse. In this scene I'm dead, lying in a pool of red paint at the bottom of the perfectly recreated staircase.
Someone sent this threatening package to me, but who?
And what do they want?
All I know is that nothing is what it seems here. And now I know what the Howards are hiding, I could be in grave danger…

Serial murdering family. This is a rather dark tale about a wealthy family in England with an heirloom castle who have a habit of disposing of maids. Twisted but I have met people who feel that entitled due to their wealth.
Started great. I just want fond of the ending, as it began to get predictable.
Well written. Not a dull moment in the storyline
Well written. Smart, engaging, page turner
Omggg. This book kept me on my toes. Every time I thought I figured it out, I hadn’t lol
Great read!!. This book has so many twists and turns it was impossible to put down. The beginning is a little slow at times, but once it picks up it is amazing! Highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mysteries and horror!
Unnerving twist. I want a sequel where mini psycho didn’t actually die!
The Best. Great story, I loved the characters. I enjoyed the suspense. Excellent . GSC Freeport New York
Tedious.. I thought I’d never finish it. For some reason it just didn’t grab me like other suspense novels.
Great book!. love love love loved this book! such a good and easy read had my attention the whole way through. sad its over!
Intriguing. Great read. Very suspenseful and surprising. Not at all what I was expecting.
Love this book! A true Rollercoaster of emotions & excitement!. My first time reading this author but definitely won’t be my last! Whata “Ride”
WOW!. Could NOT put it down after part 2.
Not bad. Ruby traveled from her Aunt’s house to Highwood Hall looking for her mother whom she hadn’t seen since she was 6 months old. She answered an ad for a housemaid. The book had the feel of a historical novel but you knew you were in modern day. Maids had a history of disappearing from Highwood Hall. Ruby had an ulterior motive for wanting to get a job at Highwood Hall. Her mother had worked there when she was pregnant with her. She was determined to find out what happened to her mother. What she finds out is disturbing. Follow the chain of events with all its twists.
