Perfect Together by Kristen Ashley Book Summary

Wyn and Remy Gastineau were perfect together…

Until, without warning, Remy walks out on their life, their love and their marriage.

Wyn is blindsided and heartbroken. It takes her years to get over the loss of Remy.

Sometime later, their children call a family meeting and Remy is acting strange. Wyn refuses to hope. Remy has moved on. She must do the same.

But she’s wrong.

Remy wants her back and he’s pulling no punches. He’s determined to do the work to piece together the marriage he shattered. Forced by circumstances to tell Wyn things he never wanted her to know, Remy reveals his tragic secrets.

As the family reels from pain long buried now laid bare, Wyn realizes instead of letting go, she has to hold tight to the man and the family they made that’s perfect together.

“…the deep bonds of family, the imperfectly perfect characters, the REAL LIFE and real love. The story is immaculate.” -Verve Romance

It felt forced with weak plot devices. I really, really wanted to like this. Complicated marriages and families have stories that need to be exposed; however, the resolutions in this book seemed too quick and unbelievable. The way Remy just left, was an major angry jerk, and then had his sudden epiphany was not “real”. The way Wyn simply and inexplicably took him back THREE years later with the “I messed up, you were too perfect for me” excuse was embarrassing for her character. A person just doesn’t get through that so easily. They would be shell shocked and wary. There were a few editing problems that were distracting and the use of parenthetical thoughts resulted in me having to read sentences two or three times to understand it. The kids were over the top and and Sah’s “alpha male” reactions made me cringe. I can throw the “f” word out with the best of them, but the author over used it and also used ridiculous phrases that were meant to sound like a young person’s lingo. Having a 21 y/old son in my house who is in college himself and has friends over, I can confidently say I’ve never heard some of the phrases used (and yeah, I’ve eavesdropped a little). The women felt pampered and weak, the men felt overly male and were, quite frankly, condescending (but under the “guise” of being protective of their women). I agree with another reviewer who said it was preachy. I don’t write many reviews-mostly because I’m lazy. But, I was compelled to write this. It’s a novel that wants to be more than it is and the families secrets are devastating. But better fleshed out characters and less telling and more developing would have fed the story substance. I feel bad about this review, but I had to speak up. Beautiful, alpha males who authors assert love their women more than anything but show it in too aggressive behavior is not what women need to read. Let’s stop glamorizing 6’4 tall, muscular, possessive men with large “parts” as the ideal partner. It’s a trope that is overdone. Please.

Family and second chances. Wyn and Remy. Talk about a messy family dynamic and some friendship drama! The story is full of well developed and full bodied characters. Noel, Manon, Yves, Sabre, Melly..Remys parents…they all are captivating in their own ways. The premise of a second chance for a marriage is not my normal book story, but this fascinated me as the why was not clear at first. The story delivers emotion and drama in the relationships, history, and actions from start to finish. I love KA books and this one met all my expectations of one of her great stories!

Loved it!. Another great story told by Kristen Ashley.

A bit disappointing. Expected more. Wanted more. Pushed myself thru the redundancy of the last half of the book. One of my favorite authors and I found it wanting and a bit preachy

The Best. I have read 99% of what KA has written. I think this is my favorite. I never thought I’d say that as I haven’t been in love with some of her newer stuff. She is still my favorite author. But this book is amazing. Characters are very well developed. Storyline interesting. Loved seeing older H and h. In our world that is right now such a mess, this book served to bring a smile to my face. Great read.
