Switchblade by Michael Connelly Book Summary

In this original short story from #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch seeks justice for the forgotten

NOTE: This file includes a preview of Michael Connelly's novel The Crossing.

In "Switchblade," an anonymous tip puts Bosch on a case that has remained unsolved for decades, the vicious stabbing of a teenage boy whose body was found in an abandoned Old Hollywood restaurant.

Cold cases are often the toughest: With no body, no murder scene, and no fingerprints, Bosch nevertheless gets lucky when DNA evidence from the murder weapon points to a known killer. But the DA insists that science alone is not enough - he needs the case to be bulletproof before he'll take it to court.

Determined to speak for those who can no longer speak for themselves, Bosch has one chance to wrench a confession out of a cold-blooded killer, or risk letting him walk free for good.

In this gripping, never-before-published story by "master of the crime thriller" (Huffington Post) Michael Connelly, Detective Harry Bosch quenches his thirst for justice and shows why he is "one of the most popular and enduring figures in American crime fiction" (Chicago Tribune).

A Good Short Story. I enjoy short stories and that’s exactly what this is - a short story. If you enjoy authors like Jeffrey Archer you’ll understand this short story. It’s not a novel and you should not read it as a chapter of a novel - it’s a short story. Try it - you may like it.

Switchblade. This book is a ripoff! It's not a book. It's not even a short story which takes a lot of discipline. The story stops just as it is getting started, hoping the surprising revel elation just before Connelly stops writing will be enough to convince readers of a good outcome. No such luck. I am a Michael Connelly fan. That's why I bought this "book". I enjoy his books because the characters are compelling, the plots strong and the writing crisp. The thin thread of story here is hardly a plot and the writing is distractingly bad. I am so disappointed, I'm angry.

Disappointing. Just as I was settling in for a good ole Harry Bosch yarn of struggle, ladies, good to be the winner, it's OVER! WHAAAT! Come oooon !

Switchblade. This a tidbit of procedural review mainly designed to get you to read he other book he's hawking. A dirty trick and a waste of money. Pity.

Switchblade. Can't believe I just paid money for a 50 page book that's basically an ad for gods of guilt, Connellys new book which I already read. Deceptive marketing!!! Great way to lose fans. I love Connellys books but no longer trust what he's selling.

Less than weak. This is so very disappointing. I am a long time Connelly fan but this story has no substance, No ending and is not with the .89 I paid for it. At the end I kept looking for the rest of the book the ending is so weak. Do not buy.

Mike Yetter's review. If the book isn't available until next month, how'd this clown read it and review it?

Anticlimactic. I enjoyed reading this book all the way to the end. The ending did not really seem like an ending. It seemed like more of a comma. You are left waiting for the results.

Weak & disappointing. I am a long time Connelly fan. This is 32 pages of practically no story, and 60 preview pages of 'the gods of guilt'.

Good short story. It is what it is: a snappy short story that holds up just fine on its own but plays even better if you're familiar with the Bosch character.

A classic Harry Bosch. Love Harry Bosch, have for years. Easy read, especially if you have read the stories from the beginning stories. Wait till he’s “retired”.

Think twice.3. Buy a burger rather than waste it on this "short" short story. Wait till there is a story to buy. Nuff said. It will take longer to eat your burger then read this ... Whatever.

Short but good. I appreciated reading the frustrations of those who bought this expecting more - that helped me set my expectations appropriately. While no doubt a quick read, I still enjoyed seeing the world of Bosch from another angle.

Short. Good story but I felt like it ended abruptly. Way shorter than I thought it was when it paid for it. Story is 4 stars, price is 1-2 stars

Waste. Love Michael Connelly books but will say for the first time this was a waste of money and time. Story started out so well and then ended suddenly. For die hard fans do not buy to be disapointed....

Switchblade. Boy what a rip off, why would Mr. Connelly sell this as a book? This was more to sell "Gods of Guilt" which I had already read. This "book" should have cost .99 cents for 30 plus pages. I usually always enjoy Connelly's work and always look forward to the next book, like next time make it a book or tell me it is a very short story. I want my money back to spend on the next book from Connelly.

Outline for a 30 minute TV episode. I will first admit that when I purchased the book I was so excited to see a new book by Michael Connelly with Bosch that I pre-purchased without realizing it was a short story. My bad. The story was so superficial and predictable. It wasn't even a good short story. It appears to me Connelly is preparing to write for movies and TV. If this is his new focus I will not purchase anymore Connelly books. And I have read every one.

Disappointing. Bought thus because of the link in Gods of Guilt. Seems that most of what I bought was Gods of Guilt, again. Not worth it for the actual amount of new story.

Teaser only. I've seen a lot of reviews slamming this, and I have to disagree. It is not a novel, or even a novella, it is a short story. As such, it doesn't have a lot of character development, or a complicated plot. It is a teaser for the proposed Harry Bosch TV series. Looked at as a teaser, it sets up a link between the books, and the direction of the proposed TV Series. As a teaser, it does make me want to see the pilot. If you are hoping for a novel, you will be disappointed. A lot of the slams call this overly commercial, but I don't see it that way, it's a hook, nothing more.

Harry Bosch Short. Ok guys, it's $0.99 and openly stated as a short story, it's not a $15 novel. No ripoff! Harry Bosch gets a new cold case, it involves a tip and a possible killer already in the "Q". The 99 cents is for Harry's interview and finding the witness. Enough for me.

Switchblade. This book is not worth the money you pay.It is a very short story and the preview does not express the value of the book

Switchblade. Don't waste your money on this rip off. An extremely SHORT story attached to an advertisement for a book you've probably already purchased.

Switchblade. I liked it though not quite as much as previous Haller books. The Lincoln Lawyer is a hard act to follow. Still great though. Thank you!

Switchblade. A complete scam. I guess I can't trust downloading a Connelly book again. The story doesn't even end and they shift into an excerpt from his next book they are trying to sell. Shameless.
